Weather and Crops.
The “Oldest Inhabitant” recollects no such
season as we have had in Middle Florida for
several weeks —we might say months past.
The “drought” which usually comes in May,
this year came not at all. In lieu thereof the
whole spring was so far as respects rain highly
seasonable. And when summer came, in
stcap of a diminution we have an increase of
wet. There has been scarcely a dry day for a
month past —the last week averaged two hard
showers a day.
Our friends abroad will inquire what is the
effect of all this on the crops? 1 n regar dto
corn, the venerable gentleman above mentioned
says, he has never seen a finer com crop. And
really what we have observed in several coun
ties convinces us that he is right.
Os Cotton the general report is, (except
where the grass has been utterly unmanage- t
able,) that it is extravagantly fiourising—far J
two much so, for the satisfaction of sagacious |
planters. “Too much weed and too few bolls,” j
even should there be no caterpiller, which i
every one confidently fears, it is not thought
the yield of Cotton will be large. But in re
gard to Corn there can be no mistake—an
abundant harvest seems certain.— Tallahassee
(Florida ) Journal , I.2 th inst.
Wistar’s Balsan of Wild Cherry.
Scarcely a day elapses in which we do not re- ‘
ceive some new testimonial in favor of Wistar’s |
Balsam. The subjoined was sent us yesterday by j
an entire stranger, who could have been influenced
by no selfish motives.
New Hampton, April, 6, 1846.
Mr. Fowle:—Dear Sir-Having beentroublcd about
four years with pains in my side and stomach, and j
after trying various remedies but to no effect, I
tried the Balsam of Wild Cherry, which gave me
immediate relief, and I can hereby assure the pub
lic, that in my opinion, it is the best medicine for
Lung and Consumptive complaints which has ever
been introduced to the public, and I judge from my
own experience. J. A. LOOMIS.

Sand’s Sarsaparilla.
Every plant and flower in the universe teaches
us by its simple power in the cure of diseases —that
none of God’s creations are in vain. As numerous
and various as the products of the vegetable king
dom, are the diseases to which man is subject—
and surely we may believe that in the great cabi
net ot Nature which is opened to us, every one of
these ills may find its balm. Let hundreds then
who have given themselves up to despair still hope.
In Sands’ Sarsaparilla has been discovered a
certain remedy for many diseases which have hith
erto baffled all skill, In cases of Scrofula, Chronic
Rheumatism, obstinate Ulcers, and diseases which
hrise from an impure state of the Wood, it never
fails.
For further particulars and conclusive evidence
•of its superior value and efficacy, see pamphlets,

MOBILE, 'July 1 1' market dur
ing the past week has been very firm but *he trans
actions have been on a more, iitjftifed scale than the
week preceeding. During the early part of the
week the views of holders were above those of
purchasers, and in anticipation of daily later for
<Mgn advices, neither party Was disposed to yield.
The non-arrival of these advices until Sunday had
the effect ot keeping the market in a quiet state
during the first four days of our commercial week,
though the limited sales made were at prices to
cent above our last last week’s figures. On Sunday
Liverpool accounts by the Caledonia to the 19th
ult. came to hand, showing an improvement of Jd
in cotton, and a further decline in breadstuff* since
the sailing of the steamer of the 4th alt. There
had also been an improvement in the monetary af
fairs of England, and the growing crops were pro
mising. These favorable circumstances had im-
Earted confidence to the commercial community
ighly favorable to business and trade. The sales
of cotton in Liverpool for the week ending the 18th
ult. amounted to 36,460 bales, at an advance of Jd
on American descriptions, and the stock on hand
was estimated at 501,0<J0 baies, against 723,000
same time last year. This favorable news confirm
ed the pretensions of holders in our market, and
buyers came forward yesterday and took about
1200 bales, at the figures given below, which are
about 3 cent advance from those given last week.
Good middlings are principally in demand and
readily command 10 cents. The sales of the week
amount to 3500 bales, in daily transactions as fol
lows: Wednesday GOO, Thursday 1000, Frida’y UK),
Saturday 400, Monday 200 and Tuesday 1200. The
week closes with a firm market at our quotations.

highly puffed in news paper advertisements as some
others, do their work equally as good, if not better.
He is willing to put his Gins in comparison with
any others made in the United States, and will war

j well.
I As regards certificates, he could fill columns
| with them, but would prefer that those in want of
i a good Gin shouldcall on him personally, or by let
ter, in which case satisfactory and numerous re
ferences can be given.
He has been engaged in the business some years,
and has never heard a complaint of work turned out
of his shop, from which circumstance he has come to
the conclusion that his Gins have given general
satisfaction, since their manufacture has been un
der his sole superintendence. •
My terms for all New Gins are cash, before they

THE REMEDY NEEDED.
Dr. Woodruffs Dysentery Cordial,
For Dysentery , Diarrhcca, Griping Pains and
Summer Complaint of Children.
FROM Benj. Gardner, editor of the Southern
Shield, Eufaula, Ala.
I Another Life saved by the Cordial, after
I Physician’s slcill had failed to benefit.
Dr. Woodruff —Dear Sir: I take great plea
sure in testifying to the efficiency of your Dysen
terey Cordial from testing its virtues" in my own
family. Mrs. Gardner was last summer most vio
lently attacked with that disease, and after a!! emi
nent medical skill had been battled in its efforts to
remove the disease or afford relief, and apprehen
sions began to be felt by myself, that she would not
survive much longer, under the intense agony ijj
which she was laboring, I had recourse to your in
valuable Cordial, and before she had taken one
bottle of it, relief was obtained; and after taking
two, was eutirely cured. I feel sure that lam in
debted to it, for'her life. Y'ou can use this as vou
rhay see proper. BENJ. GARDNER.

THE IMPERIAL RAZOR PASTE.
Read what Sam’l W. Flournoy, Editor of the
Columbus Enquirer, says in regard to it;
Having made trial of the Razor Strop Paste for
some 5 or 6 months, I am satisfied that it is all that a
stiff bearded man can require to put his dull razor
in complete order.
When I purchased a box of this Paste I had no
faith in its superior qualities, but experience has
convinced me that it is entitled to all the celebrity
it has obtained; the article is a first rate thing and
no mistake. SAM’L. W. FLOURNOY.

other Line, and with greater ease and comfort, as

from Petersburg to Baltimore supper included, $4.
iln the putting forth of the above Schedule,we have
been guided and admonished by the knowledge we
have of what other lines have already suffered in
giving the Traveller false information respecting
their Schedule time, and have, to the best of our
I knowledge and belief, made an average time of the
i arrival and departure between Charleston and
Baltimore, by the Bay Route, for the last two
months, during which period there has not been a
single failure, by the Boat, to arrive at Baltimore
in time to take the Morning Train for Philadelphia
and the several Routes going North, South, Last,
and West.
The Bay Company have been in exlstance up
ward of Twenty Y'ears.and through this long period,
their Boats, built expresslly for the route, have suc
cessfully run without loss of Lite or Property—
this fact alone should, and we believe will, be satis
factory to the Travelling Public, that the Chesa
peak Bay Route is one of the safest in the whole
Union.
We were prepared and fully expected to meet
with strong opposition from the Monopoly Line, but
had hoped that the warfare would have been con
ducted in a business like and honorable way, and
that their Cards would have contained none of that
misrepresentation and false inuendoes with which
| they afe filled againsj the Bay Line. However, we
care not, knowing that we have the cheapest and
most pleasant route; pledging ourvclves to convey
the travelling public by our scheldule,we are willing
to abide the issue and leave the result to their
choice.
Any further information will be cheerfully given
and tickets can be had, by application to the under
signed at the Charleston Hotel.
