Canoer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer end-cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. The success he has met with in curing broncho cele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may Ire removed with as much Certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to he understood as say- ; ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and ; Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as ikit o£& Scrofula—King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous ! cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with, the most decided success. Skin Diseases. H« has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaundiced skin, Sec. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. Ti c-D onlonr eux. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great i many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every case in which it was used until the system became i affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen vears as to entirely disable him from business, and rfive months immediately previous to his taking ' Alterative he had been confined to his room; fin* before he had finished the third bottle, he was c.usb ’"id to walk about the streets and soon after re mise -1 to his business, from which he had so long heed- excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Swellings. Cancer. An interesting c wse cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of /831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right brea st of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of ■Sale wN. J* It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable me.msof removing it were used -without the slightest, benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope ■of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was •abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Ur. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bud. as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the ■ part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right ibreast. previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap ipeared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very serofukus habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumption. Tho experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses* three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wetnijjht and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash, The tumour continued increasing in size for a&out six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the .base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and e&ts&kued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The iu her left breast, and those in her right eyiffa were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which hadbeej* so bad for four teen ye#rs as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored/ The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention oyer a dozen eases equally inter esting, wherein bis Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J.. haul a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, whieh was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss lb S—, South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breastbone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing wttn she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at whieh time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; I and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. THIS , ...markable invention, which has received the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries. Electric and Magnetic Machines, <fcc., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are inseparable from the general mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemists to he one ol the most extraordinary discoveries of mod ern science. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system by means of an outward local application. Tarkytow n, Aug. 9, 1841. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which I teel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. In’the year 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a lew months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman's Lozenges were good for a coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a few months, but without success; I then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, 1 commenced raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and confiued to the house for three months, during which time I lost my appetite and fell away very last; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no good. I again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, but I was like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; 1 however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then pur chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and I commenced taking it, and by the time 1 had used one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have fained in weight six pounds and much in strength, would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver.
