MOBILE, July 31 .-—Cotton. —Received since the 23d inst. 623 bales, and exported in same lime 4307 to Liverpool and 611 to Boston, leaving the stock on hand and on ship-board not cleared yesterday 48,184 bales, against 18,411 same time last year, and 149 the year before. Our report of this day week left the market qui et but very firm, both parties waiting the 4th of July steamer from England, then about due—middling cottons were quoted at 10 cents. On Saturday the telegraphic despatches of the Britannia’s news were received, and on Sunday the letters and cir culars came to hand. The sales in this market on Saturday* reached a bout 800 bales, at prices decidedly* in favor of sel lers. On Monday* the firm position of holders and the in Imposition of buyers to operate before hear ing from the other domestic markets limited sales to 300 bales. Tuesday, the market opened with an animated demand, and at the close of the day the transactions footed up fully* 3000 bales at .still firmer prices. Wednesday, there was less doing, only some 500 bales changed hands. On Thursday again, there was a good enquiry, but the indifference on the part of holders to offer their slocks at pres ent prices restricted the sales to some 1500 bales. Friday, owing in a measure to the inclement state of the weather, only 300 bale* were sohf> It will be seen by our quotations that the favorable news from Europe has advanced the price of cotton in this market fully per lb. The demand has been steady, and the very unfavorable condition of the weather, it paving rained almost incessantly* for near a month past, has tended to inspire holders with much additional firmness. 7’he sales of the week are very large for the season, footing up a boul 6500 bales, taken principally for the English markets. . . v , LIVERPOOL CLASS&pf;aU»PK.. ... Crenshaw, for the purpose of manufacturing COTTON GINS, and would also inform them that 1 have engaged Mr. Crenshaw, who will superintend the manufacturing of them.— My gins shall be made of the best materials, and I can say with propriety they are the cheapest gins sold in the Southern States, taking the workman ship in consideration. I will warrant my gins to make cotton equal to any made on any other gins in the Southern States, giving the true staple of the cotton and making it perfectly free of knap and clear of moats. My gins will be delivered at the purchaser’s residence free of charge and warrant ed to give ample satisfaction. All orders addressed to the subscriber will meet with prompt attention; repairing done in good style and at short notice. All old gins of 10 inch saws I will repair and put them on improved principles, and also warrant them to make as good cotton as any of the improved gins, and at a much less cost than a new gin. J. D. HAMMACK. Crawfordvilie, Ga., May 4. 1 I will say to the planters who may favor Mr. Hammack with their patronage 1 will exert all the ability I have in superintending the shop; and every gin sent from the shop shall be in complete order, and warranted to be the cheapest gins ever offered to the public; and from my long experience in the business, I know the gins cannot be surpassed, al : though agents from other shops have resorted to | the contemptible practice ot slandering me and saying my gins have prostrated me, though it is not true. In full confirmation of what I say, I Offer a i few certificates from gentlemen who have used my gins, and could furnish many more of this kind, if required. S. R. CRENSHAW. Dear Sir: I hare used the Gin bought of yon for : two years, and I very cheerfully recommend it to J the Cotton planters of Oglethorpe and other coun ; ties of Georgia. It turns off sufficiently fast to make good Cotton—it being 50 saws—will throw out about 800 ibs. of lint a day. The quality of the j Cotton has, in Augusta, ranged half cent higher at each of ray sales than other sales of those days, j | and it has been pronounced by those considered | competent to judge, as in no way inferior to the Cava Gin. Yours, very respectfully. F. MERIWETHER. April 24th, 1847. Oglethorpe Co., April 22,1817 I have used for the last three years a machine that was made by S. R. Crenshaw, of Crawford vilie. 1 consider it one of the best Gins I have ever seen. Two small mules will gin, with a great I ; deal of ease, three bales per day, and I do not think there is a gin in Georgia that can excel it in making fine cotton. In fact, Mr. Crenshaw has a >ld a great many gins in this county and Elbert, and I think that every man who has purchased is perfectly satisfied. All of his gins which have been sold in this county, and they are not a few run light, pick fast, and what is better than all, when the cot ton is carried to mai'ket it sells for the very highest price C. S. MERIWETHER. CiiAwroEDViLLE, May 4, 1847. Mr. J. D. Hammack —l certify that I bought of S. R. Crenshaw, last year, a forty-five saw anti i friction Cotton Gin, which performs well and makes as good cotton as the Carver Gin, in my opinion. P. G. RHOME. { This is to certify that 1 purchased one of Mr. S. R. Crenshaw’s improved anti-friction Cotton Gins | last year, and find it to be superior to any Gin I have ever used. I think it superior to the Carver Gins. It makes superior cotton, giving the true staple of the article, and gins 900 lbs. of clean cot ton per day, and runs very light. C. R. ZACHERY.
