THIS valuable preparation combines all the
medicinal virtues ol those articles, which long
experience has proved to possess the most safe
and efficient alterative and deobstruent properties,
or the cure of Scrofala, King's Evil, 1I kite Stcell-
Lleers, Scrofulotts, Cancerous and Indolent
Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections, Rheu- \
mutism . Gout, Scurvcy, Neuralgia or Tic-Doulou
reux, Cancer, Goitre or Bronchocde , (swelled Neck,)
Enlargements of the Bones. Joints, Glands, or Liga
ments or of the Ovaries, Liver, Spleen, Kidneys, Spc.
All the diseases of the Skin, such as Tetter, Ring
worm. Biles, Pimples, Carbuncles, dpc., Dyspejtsia
and Liver Complaint. Nervous Diseases. Dropsical
Swellings. Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori
ginating from a depraved or Impure state of the
Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he has net offered
this preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after 1
twelve years’ experience had manifested its great
superiority over every other article of the kind, —
and he now recommends it with confidence, fully
believing that the above combination of medicines
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of diseases some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety of
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu- ,
mors, and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
Me has prescribed it in'over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary
case of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing broncho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say- |
ing that they can he cured as soon as Fever and >
Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that
he good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, i
bat that it destroys the virus Or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as (hat of scrofula emaaat c
Scrofula—King's Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous
cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell
ings, and always with the most decided success ■
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane- I
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt |
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew
and jaundiced skin, Ac.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, a»id with the happiest effect.
Tic-Douloureux.
It has been used in several cases of N euralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases ol chronic rheumatism, and in every
case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gout.
A number of cases of gout have been cured by
(his preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been alllicted with it so severely for thirteen |
s ears as to entirely disable him from business, and
for live months immediately previous to his taking I
the Alterative he had hern confined to bir room; I
but before he had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he had so long
been excluded by his affliction-.
Dropsical Swellings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has i
■been taken for some time, no matter for what pur- t
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some 1
•6f the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
<cer, bfdnchdcfele, and scrofula, have been cured bv
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in ibis sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.
Cancer.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 18.31, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter ;
Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in- |
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was 1
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832. by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
whole and entire right breast was removed, and as- i
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by i
ail present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a made its ap- }
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right I
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ,
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
cred hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
eoth her 'parents having died of Pulmonary con- i
bumption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually, |
but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it,
which was about six months, and the skin over and ;
ground the tumour was wet night and morning with
a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash.
The tumour continued increasing in size for about
fcix weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled oat at the base, and became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas- 1
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her
right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
Ijer general health, which had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who
choose may examine it. lie. would also say that
he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, hut he has not room here !
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah Y oung, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had
a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe,
as large as the half ot an orange, which was cured ;
by using this Alterative tor about four months.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street,
delphia, was ai-.o cured of ap enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast bone, and extended around on each
tide of her neck to behind her ears, and from her *
ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformK j
ty. It commenced growing when she was but five
years old. and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced •
using this Alterative, which she took for seven !
months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; j
and she has now as smooth and pretty a n_ck as can ;
be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in print, but will refer persons to her.

TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT. |
375 Bowery, N. Y.
1 TINT those be who have Pulmonary Consump- '
! JL tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver ci
; Chest, after reading the following letter, just re
ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of W est
chester County New Y ork.
Takrytown, Aug, 9, 1844.
Dear Doctor —It is difficult to find words to ex
press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for
the interest yon have taken to relieve me in my
distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy
cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
; months after, I commenced coughing and raising
offensive matter, which smelt very had. Having
heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
j coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had
J not the least effect on me. J then called in the
i best physicians in the place, who attended me a
few months, but without success; I then saw an ad
vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three
‘ bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets,
| but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect
from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in
i jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced
: raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down
sick and confined to the house for three months,
during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell away
very fast; 1 was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis
; of New York, (one of the best physicians in the
city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became
worse, and was confined to the house all last winter
and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting
; any better, as I again raised blood and my cough
; was very severe, together with a pain in ray
i breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends
now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought
} every day was the last. About this time 1 heard
ol your BALSAM OF Ll\ ERW ORT being good
j for consumption, hut I was like many others, ami
was fearful (hat it might he a regular humbug; I
however finally consented to try it, as I thought it
could make me no worse. My brother then pur
chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N . Y., and! !
commenced taking it, and by the time 1 had used
one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the j
morning 1 had an appetite for my breakfast. 1 still
keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the
j pain in my breast is entire!} gone, and I raise no
more blood. Within the last two months I have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
I would therefore, advise all who have any affec
tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe
it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
I'ofthe Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him call on me, and 1 will convince him of its
! virtues. Y ours, respectfully, DE REV'ERE.

The great demand for this most important work, !

for the married, as it discloses important secrets
which should he known to them particularly. —
Here every female can discover the causes, symp

certain mode of cure, in every complaint to which
j her sex is subject.
It is an important question to the married why it
is, that we behold so many married females sickly,
debilitated, and prostrated ? as, also, the causes,
and whether they are susceptible of remedy. They
will here find those important matters, connected
: with discoveries in medical and physiological sci
ence, which meet this question.
This work is destined to be in the hands of every
wife # and mother who has a regard for her own
health ancLvvelfare, as well as that of her husband.
The revelations contained in its pages have al
ready proved a blessing to thousands as the innu
merable letters received by the author will attest.
It is of course impossible to convey more fully,
in a public journal, the various subjects treated ( f
as they are of a nature strictly intended for the
married or those contemplating marriage ; neither
is it necessary, since it is every one’s duty to be
come possessed of knowledge, whereby the suffer
ings to which a wife, a mother, or a sister may be
subject, can be obviated.

GALVANIC RINGS AND
Magnetic Fluid.
1 riAHIS remarkable invention, which has received
A the almost universal approbation of the Medi
i cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en
tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial
agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious
powers of Galvanism applied without any of the
objections which are inseparable from the general
mode now in use. The strong doses, and' at irreg
ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the
Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im
partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to
remedy .this, radical defect, that this new applica
-1 tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and
j perseverance has been brought to its present state i
| ol perfection. The Galvanic Pings answer all the
i purposes of the niost expensive Machines, and in
many other respects are more safe and certain in
1 accomplishing the desired effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection w ith the
Ma grutic Fluid, arc confidently recommended in |
i all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un
: healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those
complaints are among the most painful, and upiyer
! sal to which we are subject. , i hey arise, without
exception, to one single cause—a derangement of
I the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that
other “remedies” having so often failed, a new
agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
| cions application of Galvanism,
i The Galvanic Kings have been used with entire
success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs : Goat, I'ic-
Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous
or Stole Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy,
Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap
popleay, Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum
bago, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head. Pams in the Chi st and Side, (General Debil
ita. Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and
all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed ‘Dys
pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally
successful. Their extraordinary elfects upon the
system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a
certain Preventive for the preceding complaints
they are equally recommended. The Rings are of
j different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va
j rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the
! most delicate female without the slightest incon
venience. In fact the sensation Is rather agreea
ble than otherwise.
The Galvanic Eelts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, Ac.
In some cases of a very severe character and of
long standing the power us applied by the Galvanic
Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis
ease and ultimately to restore health. Tae improv
ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets,
SfC., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
' of power that is required can readily be obtained, j
and no complaint which the mysterious agent of 1
j Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re
lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms,
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
j pei'feet convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are
i used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
Nervous Deafness ; and with almost uniform success
as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
: similar complaints. •
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings,
and ail their •modifications. This composition has
been pronounced by the French Uheini Is to be
one of tire most extraordinary discoveries of mod
-1 ern science. It ;s believed to possess a remarkable
power of rendering Vie Nerves sensitive to Galvanic
action, by these means causing a ciri. ufrtifia of the j
influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra- '
pid and permanent relief. No other composition in j
chemistry is known to produce the same effect or j
; to impart a similar property to the nerVous system 1
! by means of an outward local applicat'on. The
Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the
slightest injur v, its application is agreeable, and it j
is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its j
1 result. Tire combined inventions are in every way i
perfectly harmless ; they are at prices within reach j
of ail. and the discoverer only requesters fair trial,
as a test of their smoking efficacy and permanent
benefit.
CLiistie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plan
ters.
These articles form another valuable application j
and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. • They 1
are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic j
I Rings and their modifications, acting upon the
same principle, but having this advantage of more
local application. They are confidently recom
i mended as a valuable addition in tire speedy cure
of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous
! complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of
Bain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Bain in
the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness
1 or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi
j nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided
! character, and they have often been used with
! complete success. They are also of the greatest
advantage in Bains and Weakness of the Breast,
and are highly recommended for many of those
complaints to which females are especially liable.
As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys
tem when debilitated by disease or other causes;
as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the
Chest, generally,the Galvanic Strengthening Plas
; ter, wall be found of great and permanent advantage.
In a few words, it embraces ail the virtues of the
j best tonic preparation with the important addition
of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair
-1 ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These
articles will be found entirely free from those ob
' jections which are a constant source of complaint
j with the ordinary Plasters in common use.
[UPThe great celebrity and success of these ar
\ tides have caused them to be counterfeited by un
! principled persons. To provide against impositions,
j Dr. Christie has hut one authorized agent in each
city of the Union. The only Agency in Augusta,

’ DR. JOEL BRANHAM’S LIVER AND
DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE.
IN offering this valuable medicine to the people
of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis- |
eases incident to a Southern climate. 1 do not claim
for it infallibility; neither do i say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and '
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recora- 1
mend its use. from my personal observation and use 1
of the article in my own practice. This article is {
favorably received wherever it has been used. I
am allowed to relePto Mr. George Heard of Troup.
Mr. John W arren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of
Cobb, Mr Ashury Hull of Athens, Mr. William 1). j
Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La- i
I arrange; to which a great number of names might
j be added, who bear their testimony to its value.—
* Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his ,
1 own case, and lias prescribed it to many others,
| gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest ■
! and most valuable medicines that can be used in
’ imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state ol the bowels. It is useful in
! bilhous complaints, to persons recovering from hil- j
lions fevers.and in sick or nervous head-ache. To 1
pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, I
this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state ,
of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, j
it is particularly useful.

VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS.
THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal
Agents has ever been that in their process of pur
gation and purification, they have also Debi/ifated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines ha*e al- 1
ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary i
Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of j
one disease at the expense of another. To obviate j
this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that
would at the same time
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN.
But their efforts w ere nearly fruitless, and they ■
had almost despaired of success when the labors of
science and research, were rewarded by a discov
ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as
one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
named
Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills.
\\ Inch Purify the litood, and remove ail corrupt i
and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from i
the body in a manner never before rivalled, and j
which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what- {
ever, hut on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and |
invigorate the constitution during the progress of
their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite 1
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable
qualities, Evacuation and Invin-oration. for they are
at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA
TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC.
'I he two paiucipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s
Pills are
WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef
fect of the other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su- j
periuduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges
tive Functions, and hence their operations are at
tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. |
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so :
prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, i
the patient is of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chj le,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a ;
family medicine they have no rival. Price 25 cts.
per box.
