THIS valuable preparation combines all the ; medicinal virtues of those articles, which long | experience has proved to possess the most sate and ellicicnt alterative and deobstruent properties, or the cure of Scrofula, King’s Evil, U kite Sivell ings, Ulcers, Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections, Rltiu/.- I mutism. Dropsical j Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori- i ginating from a depraved or Impure state of the Blood or other fluids of the body. The. proprietor of this Alterative would most re ; spectrally assure the public that he has not offered *his preparation to their notice without due rellec lion, and close and rigid study, nor until after i 1 welve years’ experience had manifested its great s uperiority over every other article of the kind.— u nd he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He bas prescribed it in almost every v ariety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, canceroos, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from j obstruction or enlargement of the glands 01 itapuri- j ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho cele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may he removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that they cun be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from w hich that peculiar x; lass of diseases, as well as that of scrofula cmanat e Scrofula —King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases of scrofula. King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell ing's, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane- I ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt | Theiim or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaundiced skin, &.c. • j Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, anti with the happiest effect. TioDouloureux. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every "case in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been aiilicted with it so severely for thirteen ! years as to entirely disable him from business, and ffor five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before be had finished the third bottle, be was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re- j -turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Swellings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion ' excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un ■natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts j tone and vitality to tjie whole system, removing j sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur- | nose, the general health of the patient has always leeu improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting case cured by Jayne’s Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phcebe, wife of Peter : Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, dnd besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it wore used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, bat by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. j John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by j all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi- | ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly Fad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the \ spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her Breast KaA been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right creast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi- i ly increased for several months, and became so Sainful as to deprive hes of rest. The glands un- ■ er the right arm were enlarged; and seirrfeus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case avas consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, ; •oth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumption. The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, | which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour | swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her fight exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four- , teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J.. had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, whicli was cured by using this Alterative tor about four months. Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila deiphia, was also cured ot an enlargement ot* tlie throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformlr ty. It commenced growing when she was but live years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven ; months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. MUST those he who have Pulmonary Consump tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Chest, after reading the following letter, just re- I ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of Wcst | Chester County New York. Tarrytoavn, Aug. 9, 1844. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress- In the year 1842 1 contracted a heavy ♦ cold, which finally settled on my Jungs; in a few 1 months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, w hich smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman's Lozenges were good for a | coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not tlie least effect on me. I then called in tke best physicians in the place, who attended me a j few months, but without success; I then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three bottles, at tlie corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell away I very fast; I Avas then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the f city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as 1 again raised blood and ray cough was very severe, together Avirh a pain in my ' breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave uy all hope of my recovering, and thoug ht every day was the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, but J avus like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; 1 hoAvever finally consented to try it, as I thought it J could make me no worse. My brother then pur_ chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and commenced taking it. and by the time 1 had used one bottle full J could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for n?y breakfast. 1 still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last lavo months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. I would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr, Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases of tlie Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and I Avill convince him of its virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE. CHRISTIE’S GALVANIC RINGS AND Magnetic Fluid, raMHS remarkable invention, which has received X the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Proiession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application ol Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers ot Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are inseparable from the general mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical detect, that this new applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state ol perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes ot the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. I he Galvanic Kings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, to one sjngle cause—a derangement of the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that other “remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. The Cralvanic Kings have been used with entire success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, applying to the head, face or limbs; Gout, Tic- Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap poplexy. Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum bago, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors, Dizziness of the Head, Pa ins in the Chest and Side, General Debil it U, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys pepsia. which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain Preventive for the preceding complaints they are equally recommended. The Kings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact tire sensation is rather agreea ble than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, Ac. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrest the ]wogress of dis ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, SfC., entirely remedies, this, objection ; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re lieved. 1 hese articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of NetTons-Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar complaints, a- * - CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemists to be one ot the most extraordinary disco erics of mod ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the. Nerves sensitive to Galvanic action, by these means causing a circulation pf the influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system hv means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it | is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its I result. The combined inventions are in every way perfectly harmless ; they are at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial, a« a test of their surprising efficacy aiul permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application and tiie mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Rings and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in tiie Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in W eakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi nal Complaints, their effects are of tiie most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive (or Colds, and in all affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Pias ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither iiapair l ed or exhausted, while the action continues. J A NT'S LIVER AND DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE. ]‘N offering this valuable medicine to the people . ot Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim for it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and i Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and reconi- ! mend its use, from my personal observation and use of the article in my own practice. This article is favorably received wherever it has been used. I am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Terrell of Putnam, ReV. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear, their testimony to its \ alue.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, gives-it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valuable medicines that can be used in imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation | and irregular stale of the bowels It L useful in billions complaints, to peisons. recovering from bil- ; lioqs fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To i pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, , this medicine’s-well suited. In regulating the state j of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, i it is particclarly'-useful 1 could append a long list of certificates, but for- I bear, prefeeing to rely on the virtues of the medi- I j cine to sustain itself. THE startling drawback o i nearly all Medicinal Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also DA'hKfated I the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al- | ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary I Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of j one disease at the expense of another. To obviate 1 this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that ; would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they had almost despaired of success when tlie labors ol i science and research, were rewarded by a discov- j ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the ! Medical Facility, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum is | named Or. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which Purify the Blood, and remove ail corrupt and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from | the body in a manner never before rivalled, and ! which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what- j ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and ■ invigorate the constitution durine: the progress of i their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite ; those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable 1 qualities, Evacuation and Tnvigorafion. for they are 1 at the same time a STRENGTHEN!NG PURGA- ! LIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. The two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s \ Pills are WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA. So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of tfie other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness, j Dr. Le Roy’s Pills arc the most active and search ing Medicine in existence- They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so 1 prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They ! not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
