Constitutional J Hsordea s and diseases ori ginating from a depraved or Impure staie of the Hi nod or other fluids of t lie body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re- ‘ tspectfully assure the public that he has not offered 1 Jus preparation to their notice without due refit c- j ion, and close and rigid stud\ . nor until after 1 welvo years’ experience had manifested its great uperiority over every other article of the kind, — ■'an I lie now recommends it with Confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. lie has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially jn cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement ot the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases oi goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary c;up of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho reic and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that thev can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate Scrofula —King’s Evil. 't his preparation has been used in nnraeron -r ases of scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it : n a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew ; and jaundiced skin, (Sec. G DUt. A number of cases of gout have been cured hi this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for live months immediately previous to Ids taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room but before lie had finished the third bottle, he wa enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his btfsiaess, from which he hud so long been excluded by his affliction. A>( i nitered'n<r rase cured Inj Jayne's Alterative. Ju the spring of 1331, a cancero is tumor appear ed in the ri glit breast of Mrs. Plueb». wife of Peter oF Salem N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic murks oi one. All (it 'liable means of removing it were used without the slightest bencht. it continued to in crease both in size amd painfulness, until all hope of saving, h r life, but by a painful operation, wa abandoned, which, as era consultation of eminent Fays cm,is, was performed, dau. Ist, 1332, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the f o irietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The w.iole and- entire right brea>l was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a ca icerof the most malignant charac t-er. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings-, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general hexy'.lh was exceedingly bad, as in deed it lead been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful turn >r made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased lor several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm* were enlarged', and seirrhus, and ahard. irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast, ISo operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumption. The experiment wa» now made with this Alterative. It was at lirst given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, us long as she took it. which was about six mouths, and Ihe skin over and itruund the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out tat the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, aau continued'gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left b-reast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever ajipeared afterwards-, and her general health, which hadbeen so bud for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examhm it. He would also say that fie could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. fsarah Voting, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S- , South Fourth-street, Phila delphia. was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, amt extended around on each side of bes neck to behind her ears, and from her cars to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not *.l liberty to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by WM. K. K.ll CHEN. sep 28 ly 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. BRUSHES. Takhytown, Aug. 9, 1841. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find w ords to ex | press the gratitude which 1 feci towards you for be interest you have taken to relieve me in mv 1 llstress. In the year 1312 I contracted a heavy i -old. which finally settled on my lungs; in a few ; month' after, 1 commenced coughing and raising »ffensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a ew mouths, but without success; i then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s j Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, hut 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect ! from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it. I commenced raising blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down i sick and confined to the house for three months, I during which time J lost my appetite and fell away very fast; 1 was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, {one of the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became wmrse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, ami I gave up all hope of ever getting , any better, as 1 again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought | every day was the last. About this time 1 heard of your BALSAM OF LI \ ERA\ ORT being good 1 for consumption, but I was like many others, and i was fearful that k might be a regular humbug; I [ however finally consented to try it, as 1 thought it | could make me no worse. My brother then pur. | chsed a bottle of it at 373 Bowery, N. Y., and j commenced taking it. and by thr. time I bad used one bottk* full 1 could sleep all night, and in the i morning 1 bad an appetite for mv breakfast. I still | keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my brva»l is entirely gone, and I raise no j more blood. Within the last two months I have ‘ gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. 1 would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and I will convince him of its virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE. WVWV DR / CHj GALVANIC RINGS AND Magnetic Fluid. riAHIS remarkable invention, which has received JL the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by' means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are inseparable from the general mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, In which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to he decidedly injurious , and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has hcjqi brought to its present state jof perfection; The Galvanic Kings answer all the i purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in | many other respects are more safe and certain in j accomplishing the dfesired effect; The Galvanic Rings, used in connection ivilli the Magnetic Fluid,, are confidently recommended in ; all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un \ healthy slate of the nervous or vital system, and those complaints are among the most painful ami univer sal to which we are subject. They* arise, without exception, to one single cause I—a 1 —a derangement of the Nervous system—-dnd it was in tlifese cases that other u remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rinas have been used with entire success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic- Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous dr Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, j Epilepsy, Fits, ('ramp. Palpitation of the Heyrt, Ap pop/e.ry. Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lvm ! bago. Neuralgia, Nen'ors Tremors, tHzziness of the i Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Devil | ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and j all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys j pepsta, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive ofgans, they hate been found equally ! successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must he witnessed to be believed, and as a ! certain Preventive for the preceding complaints they' are equally recommended. The Rings are of ; different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va- I rious ornamental patterns, and can he worn by tbe most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea ble than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, &c. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic RingS is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis ; ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets. ; entirely remedies this objection; any degree ■ of power that is required can readily be obtained, I and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re lieved. These articles are adapted to tbe waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are j used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or ! affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar complaints. CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, j and all their modifications. This composition has j been pronounced by the French Chemists to be I one ol the most extraordinary discoveries of mod- I ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable ■ power of rendering the A erves sensitive to Galvanic ! action, bv these means causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system bv means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it I is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its resJ.lt. The combined inventions are in every way perfecu v '‘armless ; they are at ju ices within reach I of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial, ; as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent ! benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Pias ters. These articles form another VtJuable^ application and the itiy sterious influence of Galvanism. I hey j are too important adjuncts to the genuine (rdirartic | Rings and their modifications, acting upon she same principle, hut having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous | complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of ' Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the tslde, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In {Spi nal Complaints, their effects are of t he most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are Highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. 1 As an effectual means for Strengthening the sy s tem when debilitated by tlisease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, us a Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the j Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas i ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those ob jections which are a constant source of complaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. tUTThe great celebrity and success of these ar ! licles have caused them to be counterfeited by un | principled persons. To jirovide against inquisitions, Dr. Christie has but one authorized agent in each city of the Union. The only Agency in Augusta, Geo., is at the Store of HAVILAND, RISLEY &, CO., Druggists. IN offering this valuable medicine to the people of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis- j eases incident to a Southern climate, 1 do not claim for it infallibility; neither do 1 say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dyspepsia, 1 can confidently advise and recom mend its use. from my personal observation and use i oftlie article in my own jiractice. This article i* favorably* received wherever it has been used. I [ am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb, Mr. .\shury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Terrell ol Putnam, ReC John E. Dawson of La grange; to w hich a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, aud has. prescribed it ftf frfsfrty others,, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valuable medicines that can be used in imjierlect digestion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in billions complaints, to person's recovering from bil lions fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful; * I could apjiend a long list of certificates, but for bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. JOEL BRANHAM, Eaton ton. Ga. Price ft I—For sale by A. G. WILLIS, March 11 UH n>nv'q VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS. THE startling drawback on neariy all Medicinal Agents lias ever been that in their process of pnr gatiou and purification, they have also Debilitated the System, Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary Evilt Patients resorting to them for tire relief of one disease at the exjrense of another. To obviate this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that would at the Same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they had almost despaired of success when tbe labors of science and research, were rewarded by a discov ery which fully* realized the fondest desires ol the Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of tbe most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum is named Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which / ‘tieify the Blood, and remove ail con upt \ and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitiub what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and invigorate tbe constitution durine the jirogress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite those, heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities, Evacuation and Inri'novation, for they arc at the same time a STRKNGTHF.N LNG PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. The two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA. So jirejiured that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and jiurilies; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are tbe most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an honr or two after they* are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chy le, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
