THIS valuable preparation combines all the

and Liver Complaint, Nervous Diseases, Dropsical

ginating from a depraved or Impure state of the
Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most fe- !
tspectfully assure the public that he has n4t offered !
preparation to their notice without due reflex
ion. and close and rigid study, nor until after ;
welve years’ experience had manifested its great I
u leriority over every other article of the kind. —
•‘’an 1 he now recommends it with confidence, fully
believing that the above combination of medicines
will effectually eradicate from the system a class I
of diseases some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety of
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially !
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impnri- j
t j of the blood.
Cancer an 3 Cancerous Tumors..
He has used this preparation in upwards of tw en- ,
t y well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors. and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of 1
goitre, and it has never failed in a simrle instance to
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary
c ase of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing hrnneho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say
ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that
he has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate
Scrofula —King’s EviL
This preparation has been used in numerous i
cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell- |
ings, and always with the most decided success. j
Sldn Diseases.
He has prescribed it n a great variety of cutane- |
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt |
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew j
and jaundiced skin, Ac.
Dyspasia ancl Liver Complmiit.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, arid with the happiest effect, i
T ic-D oulemreux.
It has been tfsed in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Hiieunl \tism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every
case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gr out.
A number of cases erf gout have been cured by
this preparation. In one' of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with if set severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, and I
for five months immediately previous to his taking (
the Alterative he bad been confined to his room; |
but before he haJ finished the third bottle, he was j
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re- i
turned to his business, from which he had so long
been excluded by his affliction.
D :*o psical S wfilings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
which wate *y or ca careous depositions, and all un
natural enlargeme its are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whale system, removing
sick and marbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
T»ecn taken for some time, no matter for wiiat pur- ,
.fo<e, the general health of the patient has always
'been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
«f the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
-t er, bronchocele. and scrofula, h ive been cured by
Td»is me Ucine, that have ever been recorded; but
’Waal of room in this sheet precludes their pubiica- !
ition tit this time.
Cancer.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative.
{ln the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear- j
in lire right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of I’eter
. Bfre chp«f -Salem N. J. It was examined by many
1 and was considered by all as cancerous,
and be odes bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All pr oUable means of removing it were used
Without the Slightest benefit. It continued to in
crea-e,botk in size and painfulness, until all hope
nbf savin" ’ierillfe, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, af:er’ a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
p -oprietor, aait two other medical gentlemen. The
w uole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get aL-ouX again. She remained feeble,
and her "Vnerahhealth was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
snrin rr of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had fieen removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the-right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
Sain fill as to deprive her of rest. The glands lin
er the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
t.d tobe a m i»s of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit.
(COth her parents having died of Pulmonary con
<bumption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually,
but steadily increased feaily, as long as she took it,
which was’ about six months, and the skin over and
around the tumour was wet night and morning with
a strong solution of lodine i4ul llydriodate Potash.
The tumour continued increasing in size for about
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
oaln suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled oat at the base, and became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her
right exiila were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, which had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
In possession of the diseased breast, and those who
Choose may examine it. He would also say that
fie could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah Y oung, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J,., had
a goitrous tumonr on the left side of her windpipe,
as large as the half of an orange, which was cured
bv using this Alterative for about four months.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phil a
delphla. was also cured of aa enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breas’-bone, and extended around on each
*»de of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced grow'ng when she was but five
years old. and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using this Alterative, which she took for seven
months, which entirely reduced the enlargement;
iind she has now as smooth and prett\ a neck as can
be found, The proprietor is not at liberty to give
ter name la print, but will refer persons to her.

HDW AWFULLY CULPABLE.
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, N. Y.
VjfUST those lie who have Pulmonary Consump
:f 1 tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or
Chest, after reading the following letter, just re
ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West
chester County New York.
Taukytown, Aug. 9, 18+1.
Dear Doctoi It is difficult to find words to ex
press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for
i the interest you have taken to relieve me in ray
distress. In the year 18+2 I contracted a heavy
cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
months after, 1 commenced coughing and raising
offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having
heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
coughs 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they had
not tiie least effect on me. I then called in the
best physicians in the place, who attended me a
few months, but without success; I then saw an ad
vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three
bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets,
but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect j
from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in
jury tome. Shortly after using it, I commenced
raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down
sick and confined to the house for three months,
during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell away
very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis
1 of New York, (one of the best physicians in the
1 city.) but he could do me no good. 1 again became
j worse, and was confined to the house all last winter
and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting j
1 any hotter, as I again raised blood and ray cough |
was very severe, together with a pain in my j
breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends j
now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought
| every day was the last. About this time 1 heard
of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good
i for consumption, but I was like many others, and
was fearful that it might he a regular humbug; I
1 however finally consented to try it, as I thought it
i could make me no worse. My brother then pur.
chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, \ . Y., and
commenced taking it, and by the time 1 had used
one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the
morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still
keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the
pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no
more blood. Within the last two months I have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
I would therefore, advise all who have any affec
tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe
it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him call on me. and I will convince him of its
virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE.

GALVANIC RINGS AND
Magnetic Fluid.
riAIIIS remarkable invention, which has received
I the almost universal approbation of the Medi
cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en
tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial
agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious
powers of Galvanism applied without any of the
objections which are inseparable from the general
mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg
ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the
Machines, has been pronounced after a .fair and im
partial trial, to he decidedly injurious, and it was to
remedy this radical delect, that this new applica
tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and
perseverance has been brought to its present state
of perfection. The Galvanic Kings answer all the
purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in
many other respects are more safe and certain in
accomplishing the desired effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in
all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un
healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those
complaints are among the most painful and univer
sal to which we are subject. They arise, without
exception, to one single cause —a derangement of
the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that
other “remedies" having so often failed, a new
I agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
cious application of Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire
success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic-
Dolor eux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous
or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy,
Ejii/epsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap
poplexij, Stiffness of Joints, Sjnnal Complaints, Lum
bago, Neuralgia, Nerrors Tremors, Dizziness of the.
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil
ity, Defciency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and
all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys
pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally
successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the
system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a
certain Preventive for the preceding complaints
| they are equally recommended. The Rings are of
! different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va
rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the
most delicate female without the slightest incon
venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea
. hie than otherwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bauds,
Garters, Necklaces, Ac.
In sbfee eases of a very severe character and of
long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic
Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis
ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv
ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets.
entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
of power that is required can readily lie obtained,
and no complaint which the mysterious agent of
Galvanism cun effect will fall'to be permanently re
lieved. These articles arc adapted to the waist, arms,
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
perfect convenience. The Galvanic Neckldref, are
used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
similar complaints.
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings,
and all their modifications. This composition has
been pronounced by the French Chemists to be
one of the must extraordinary discoveries of mod
ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable
power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic
action, by these means causing a circulation of tiie
influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra
pid and permanent relief. No other composition in
chemistry is known to produce the same effect or
to impart a similar property to the nervous system
by means of an outward local application. The
Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the
slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it
is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its
result. The combined inventions are in everyway
perfectly harmless ; they are at prices within reach
of all. and the discoverer only requests a fair trial,
as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent
benefit.
Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
These articles form another valuable application :
ami the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They j
are tw important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic
Rings and their modifications, acting upon the
same principle, hut having this advantage of more
local application. They are confidently recom
mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure
of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous
complaints, and as a positite remedy in cases of
Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in
the Side, Asthmatic Affections,-and in Weakness
or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi
nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided
character, and they have often been used with
complete success. They are also of the greatest
advantage in Pains and W eakness of the Breast,
and are highly recommended for many of those
complaints to which females are especially liable.
As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys
tem when debilitated by disease or other causes;
as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds, and in all affections ot the
I Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage.
In a few words, it embraces all the virtues ot the
best tonic preparation with the important addition
of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair
ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These
articles will be found entirely free from those' ob
jections which are a constant source of complaint
with the ordinary Plasters in common use.
[Uy’The great celebrity and success of these' ar
ticles have caused them to be counterfeited by un
principled persons. To provide against impositions,
Dr. Christie has but one authorized agent in each
city of the Union. The only Agency in Augusta,
Geo., is at the Store of

J N offering this valuable medicine to the people
. of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis- |
eases incident to a Southern climate, 1 do not claim i
for it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure all
diseases." But in Chronic Liver Affections and |
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom
mend its use, from my personal observation and use
of the article in my own practice. This article is
favorably received wherever it has been used. I
am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup.
Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of
Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hullpf Athens, Mr, William D.

he added, who bear their testimony, to its value.—

VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS.
THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal
Agents h/i> cm been that in their process of pur
gation and purification, they have also Debilitated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al
ways been regarded as at best but a Accessary
Eri!; Patients resorting to them for the relief of
one disease at the expense of another. To obviate
this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that
would at the same time
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. j
But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they i
had almost despaired of success when the labors ot I
science and research, were rewarded by a discov
ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, *nd which is justly regarded as
one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
named
I>r. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills.
Which Purify the Blood, and remove ail corrupt
and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumul dinns from
the boefy in a planner never before rivalled, and
which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what
ever. but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and
invigorate the constituting durimr the progress of
their operation.* , Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable
qualities. Evacuation and lump-oration. for thev are
at the same time a STRENGTHEN! NG PURGA
TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC.
'I he two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy s
Pills are
WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef
fect of the other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su
perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges
tive Functions, and hence their operations are at
tended by no Ke-action or Subsequent Costiveness. ;
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root Os Diseases, and their action is so
prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken,
the patient is aware of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro- |
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a
family medicine they have no rival. Price 25 cts.
