The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has net offered his preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after welve years’ experience had manifested its great u period tv over every other article of the kind, — R an Ihe now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every var.ety ot diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards ol twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors. and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. , Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) , He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho cele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may he removed with as much certainty as Fever and j Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say- j iag that they can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainly; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not onlv cure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate Scrofula —King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases of scrofula. King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it : n a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaundiced skin, &-c. Drspoosia and Liver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest eflect. Ti c-D onlourenx. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every case*in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have beep cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets aud so >n after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical 3wallings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by Which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur- Eose, the general health of the patient has always een improved by it. in conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele. and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1331, a caacero is tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Sale nN. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest beae.it. it continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, afier a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1C32, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the p-oprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. in about three months, af.er enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her "-encral health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 18.37. upw urds of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumption. The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as lo ig as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and H vdriodate Potash. Tne tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas in'* until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right evilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen oases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R—■— l ‘ S—South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the sUin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears toaher shoulders, and produced awful deformi tv. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as cam be found. MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West chester County New York. Taukytown, Aug. 9, 1844. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. 1 then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a few months, but without success; I then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time I lost my appetite and fell away very fast: I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the city.) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up ail hope of ever getting any better, as 1 again raised blood and rnv cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time 1 heard of your BALSAM OF Ll\ ERWORT being good for consumption, but I was like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then pur chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and - commenced taking it. and by the time I had used one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. 1 still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. Magnetic Fluid. riAHIS remarkable invention, which has received I the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied withbrff any of the objections which are inseparable from the general mbde now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals', in which Galvanism-is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im- i partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica- , tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection/ The Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un healthy stale of the nCrrous or vital system, and those complaints arc among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, to one single cause—a derangement of the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that other “remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis ease and ultimately to restore health.
