Sand's Sarsaparilla. The curative influence of Sarsaparilla in cases of acute and chronic rheumatism, has only recently been observed and acknowledged. It was long thought that preparations of the root could only be in scrofula and disease of that class* but the beneficial effects which have resulted fron|administering Sands 7 Sarsaparilla in the most iuve.erate cases ol rheumatism, have complefclj" exploded that idea, Colchicum was for a long time con;|dercd a specific; but it has been demonstrated thatlthis dangerous medicine in many instances causes the metastasis or translation of the complaint to the heart. This fatal result it is the direct ten dency of Sands 7 Sarsaparilla to prevent, by purify ing the blood, through which alone disease can be conveyed to the scat of life, from all its impurity. jFor further particulars and conclusive evidence or its Superior value and efficacy, see pamphlet which may be obtained of agents, gratis. I>4ViD Adams, of the Palmetto ; Regiment, son of David L. and Mary B. Adams, of Hamburg. (S. C.) aged 2d years and 11 months. Among the many bereavements which have spread j mourning through our land since the commence- j meat of the Mexican war, few have caused a deep er sorrow than the early death of the subject of this notice. The cherished hope of his parents, the centre of a large and devoted circle—his was j a soul manly and fearless, quick to catch every i generous impulse and callous to every selfish sug gestion. No purer offering on the altar of his Country has won the admiration of the brave, or drawn forth the tear of sympathy and love. Os those on whom the blow lias fallen heaviest and Who will bear its impress to the tomb, we are hap py to know that they possess the sovereign and Only balm that a parent's torn bosom can find. Beneath their deep, deep anguish, swells the deep er spring of a Christian’s faith and hope, which Coming out from the throne of God, mounts to its source and reveals the object of their love, now safe from love 7 s alarms, and drinking deep of the pleasures that flow at (rod's right hand. Thus have they been enabled to personify the lovely virtue of resignation and to prove to the world the efficacy ' of the faith on which it is founded. Sublime con solation! We commend it to all who bore to him relations more or less endearing, and especially to those who loved him with a tenderness only less than parental. May we all be enabled to kiss the rod that smites ns, and humbly to confess the righte ousness of His decree, who gave and who hath taken away—blessed he his name. * C. € o in m c r c i a I. Latest dates from mvkrpooi sept, 4 Latest dates from havku sept. 2 Extrrcts of letters received in this City. LIVERPOOL, Sept. 3.—The complexion of the Cfioney market has not improved since the depar ture of the steamer of 19th ult. but furtheC heavy ' failures in the corn trade, and the dishonor of rttof-e hill* founded on shipments of breadstuff's have creased the distrust and difficulties of the time. The crops of grain irt the most productive dis tricts are already secured, and, though there has been some unsettled weather, the harvest in the latter districts has on the whole, been progressing favorably, as is sufficiently indicated by the de pressed state of the corn markets. Flour has de clined to 21 a 25-. for the best Western Canal, and 'Philadelphia and Baltimore may be quoted 3s 2 a 23s 6d per bbl; sonr IDs to 21s; American wheat bs to 7s (id per 70 lbs. The cp.jps in France are represented as abundant beyond all former years. The disease in the potato crop appears to be in creasing, much as it did last season, from the dim inished culture this is now of much less importance. It has however checked the fall in Indian corn, the best parcels of which are now selling rather 'more freely at 26s to 30s per quarter and heated i •taud damaged parcels at 20s to 23s for cattle.— Indian corn meal 14s aI ts fid per bhl. Occasion al forced sales of all kind of gain and flour are made ■ , •for cash below the quotations, almost daily. Though the last accounts of the unpromising pros pect of the American growing cotton crop are con sidered as more decidedly favorable for holders, Vet ehr market has declined I a|d per lb. The sales for the week ended 27th ult. amounted to 20710 hales, of which speculators took 1000 and ex porters 1600, and the business for the week ended 1 this evening has been 20,000 bales, of which only 1 <’>oo is on speculation and 1500 for export. The American descriptions this week consist of 2090 j Upland at 6| a 7|, 9920 Orleans at 6J a ’B|, 2730 Alabama and Mobile at a and 190 Sea Islands at 1a 20d per lb. The quotation for fair Upland is 7J, fair Mobile I\, and fair Orleans 7fjd per lb. The unsatisfactory state of the trade of the spinners and manufacturers is forcing a further curtailment of the consumption of cotton, and this, together with the mrmey pressure, effectually checks spe- ! eolation. HA\ RE, Sept. 2. Arrived during the last two j days 8000 bales, which increases the stock to 14,- j 000 bales. The advices from Liverpool have damp ed our speculators. JOHN A. MULLEN, Agent, Opposite the Masonic Hall. fTf* Orders from the country promptly attended tc Sept. 24 FLORIDA “ CITIZENS of this beautiful and healthy State, allow me, a native Georgian, the pleasure to call your attention to one of the greatest and most useful Medicines ever discovered—one of a simple and harmless nature-one which has proved itself to be an infallible remedy for the FLYER AND ; AGUE, effecting a certain and speedy cure. The I time mentioned is truly very short, and will be doubted by many, but I have certificates from the first Physicians and of gentlemen of the highest re spectability of Savannah, where 1 reside. It is known by all that a poison wall soon circulate through and effect the whole human system, then why not a simple and one that is harmless? This Medicine is not a Northern Humbug, but a South ern Remedy altogether. It is made in the city of Savannah— it is recommended by citizens of Sa vannah, Georgia. South Carolina. Florida, Ac.; and to be candid, all my Printing is Southern, executed by Mr. E. J. Purse, of Savannah; so you will at once see it is altogether a Southerner, and if it was my intention to humbug any c immunity, 1 would not choose gentlemen’s names that are well! known and in the same place where I reside. I submit the testimony ol residents of this city, among whom are the first Physicians, and I presume you are acquainted with many of them. The Medi cine offered to the world, is a safe, certain and speedy cure for Fever and Ague, which it will do j in the very short space of Twelre f lows. As Flori- j da is a newly settledconntry.it is liable to a yreat. i deal of this troublesome disease, and it will be to | the advantage of every family to keep a supply on I hand. Citizens of Florida: it is not my intention j to weary your patience with a string of nonsense j or of advertisements, for I can assure you that I am j pretty we liaised up in this part of the work; but! wish you to try this Medicine and satisfy your selves, and you will for the first time believe that a disease could be cured in Twelve Hours, and the only way to prove it is to try it. 1 reallv do not know why a Southern Medicine should not be as good as one that is manufactured at the North. My Medicine has effected a perfect cure where all others have failed. I admit there are many other remedies, but not one that can be come so popular, and so certain of curing this com plaint, as Humphreys’ Remedy for Fever and Ague. Only think for a moment. Twelve Hours to be a healthy man! It is strange, very strange, that truth should need so much boasting at last; but such is this world. I will not tax you with any more ot this, but willingly I leave the Medicine to recom mend itself to Florida- And now, to close, T pledge my honor the Medicine does not contain any Mercury or anv Mineral Preparation whatever; il i *• a I ege table only. I am respectfully, yours, Ac. W. HUMPHREYS. Jk.. Druggist, Corner Bay and Drayton-streets, Savannah- SOUTII CAROLINA, PLANTERS of this noble State, I ask you to give the above Medicine one and a fair trial, j and you will find it to excel all the humbugs of the 1 North.
