The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has not offered t| v j s preparation to their notice without due reflec tion. and close and rigid study, nor until after wclve years’ experience had manifested its great uperiority over every other article of the kind. — i he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially m cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, ’ and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancsr and Cmcerons Tamers. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every" case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled TQeck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, ami it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary c ase of failure. Ail were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho cele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to he understood as sav ing that they' can be cured as soon os Fever and Ague, hut with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, us well as that of scrofula emanate Scrofula —King’s Svil. This preparation has been used in numerous -r ases of scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulous swell ings. and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every •case in which it was used until the system became • uffectad by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by ■this preparation. In one of these cases, the man bad been afflicted with it so severely" for thirteen vears as to entirely disable him from business, and for live months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he ha i finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and so m af.er re turned to liis bu iness, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Swallings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements arc reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and ra >rbid headaches, giddiness, wandering paifts and nervous affections. lu fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say' that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bro.ichocele. and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1331, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right bread of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter ►Stretch, of rSadeni N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, hut by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before, in the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple iff the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, noth her parents having died of Pulmonary con humption, The experiment was no»v made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour wa? wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour svycllcdout at and became soft, and then began to diminish, an 1 continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left, breast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession ot the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large us the hall ot an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. ’ Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phil a dclphia, was also cured ol an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each hide of her neck to behind her cars, and from her ears to her shoulders, and prod iced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven mouths, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by WM. K. KITCIIEN. sop 23 Jy 2 Mole Agent for Georgia. BRUSHES. ~1 A VERY' variety of Hair. MI ST those be who have Pulmonary Consump tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or i Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West chester County New York. Tarkytown, Aug. 9,1844. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in mv ; distress. In the year 1812 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a coughs 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a I few months, but without then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s I Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three j bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, | but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect from.it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in -1 jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced raising blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down ■ sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetite and feil away very fast; 1 was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the i city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and 1 gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as 1 again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends | now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time I heard of your BALAAM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, but J was like many others, and was fearful that it might he a regular humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then pur chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N . Y., and - commenced taking it. and by the time I had used one bottle full 1 could sleep all night, and in the morning 1 had an appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have 1 gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. 1 would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement relative to ymjr valuable medicine, let him call on me, and I will convince him of its virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE. GALVANIC RINGS AND Magnetic Fluid. I rrUIIS remarkable invention, which has received ! .I the almost universal approbation of the Medi ' cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial | agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic | Batteries. Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.. ; are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious : powers of Galvanism applied without any of the | objections which are inseparable from the general ; mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new' applica tion was projected, w hich after nnceasing toil and j perseverance has been brought to its present state jof perfection The Galvarric Rings answer all the ; purposes of. the most expensive Machines, and in ; many other respects are more safe and certain in i accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the j Magnetic Fluid , are confidently recommended in i all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un | health y state of the nerdous or vital system, and those i complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, to one single cause —a derangement of | the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, applying to the head, face or limbs; Gout , 77c- Doloreux , Toothache, R ranch'd is, Vertigo , Nervous «r Sick Headache, Indigestion. The improv j ed modification in the Galvanic Pelts, Pracelets, ' -S'C.. entirely remedies this objection ; any degree I of power that is required can readily be obtained. Galvanic Rings, j and all their modifications. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemists to be one oi the most extraordinary discoveries of mod ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the Ferres sensitive to Galvanic | actum, by these means causing a circulation of the : influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra- I pid and permanent relief. No other composition in , : chemistry is known to produce the same effect or ; , to impart a similar property to the nervous system j by means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the j ; slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its i result. The combined inventions are in every wav , perfectly harmless ; they are at prices within reach ! of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial, ’ as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent ’ benefit. : Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable ajiplication | and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic \ Rings and their modifications, acting upon the j ! same principle, but having this advantage of more ! local application. They arc confidently recoin- I mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure I of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all herVous complaints, and as a positive remedy in eases of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness ior Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi- 1 nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided j character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys- | tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; | as a certain aid in Constitutional W eakness, as a Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas- 1 ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage, i In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while the action continues. IN offering this valuable medicine to the people ol Georgia, lor the relief ami cure of many dis j eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim | For it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure ail ; diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom | mend its use, from my personal observation and use ol the article in my own practice. This article is | favorably received wherever it has been used. I | am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of : Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. | Ferrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La- I grange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, j gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest j and most valuable medicines that can be used in imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular stale ol the bowels. Jt is useful in | billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil lions levers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To | pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, , this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state | ot the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. I could append a long list of certificates, but for- I bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi -1 cine to sustain itself. THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also Debilitate! • the &ijstem. Hence Purgative Medicines have; al j ways been regarded as at best hut a Necessary ErU; Patients resorting to them for the relief of I (me disease at the expense of another. To obviate this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that ; would at the same time PURGE IT RIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they ! had almost despaired of success W hen the labors fit j science and research, wore rewarded bv a discov | cry which fully realized the fondest desires of the Medical Faculty, dud which is justly regarded as | one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum is j named Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which Purify the lilood, and remove ail corrupt ' and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from i the body in a manner never before rivalled, and ' which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and i invigorate the constitution during the progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities, Evacuation and Tnmscoration . for they are at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. Ihe two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s ' ! Pills arc WILD CHERRY A SARSAPARILLA. So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purities; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at- j tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the mo>t active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro- j duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a 1 family medicine they have no rival.
