LATEST DATES FROM HAVRjJ EPT. 15
NEW YORK, Oct. 9.— -Cotton. —The pressure
to sell has continued since our last, and we notice
a further concession by holders of half a cent per
lb. making one cent since last Saturday, conse
quenl upon the very unfavorable advices by the
steamer Hibernia. The sales of the week are
2850 bales of which 1550 were Upland and Flori- |

OCT. y, 2 P. M.—Cotton, 700 bales at a further
decline, making in all l£c tbis week: good mid

Corn is better; low mixed sold at G6c., and high
mixed, perhaps below. atGßc. Oats 48 a 52c.
Exchanges and freights steady. Whisky 2i>£ a
30 cents.
CH \RLESTON. Oct. 13. Cotton. —There has
been a moderate demand for Cotton during the
three last business days, and holders have met buy
ers at the reduction of Ic. per lb, the decline noticed
in our report of the morning of the 9th inst. The
sales reach upwards of 1000 bales at extremes
ranging from to 11c. The bulk of the operations
were at prices ruling from 10 to lOjj;. We quote
fair and fully fair 10| a lie.
Rice.— 3everal parcels of new havo been sold
since our last at prices ranging from 3$ to 3J. We
understand that several hundred tierces of the old
crop were contracted for at $4 per hundred, which
absorbs the whole of the crop of the last year.
MACON, Oct. 12. Colton —The market since
the receipt of the news by the Hibernia, has been
dull and spiritless. The receipts have been fair for
the season, though the sales have been light. We
quote to-day 9 a 9|c.
Corn —Nothing doing beyond the few sales ma
king for borne consumption. We quote 30 a 35c.
Flour —s 24 as 3 j»er 100 lbs.
Bacon —The stock has become considerably re
duced, and a good article readily commands 8A a
10c.
Lard —9 a 10c. per lb.
No change in other articles usually spoken of in
the markets.
The receiptr of Cotton at New Orleans from the
Ist to the sth of October, inclusive, were 13,15 G
bales, against 4,551, in the same time last year.
NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 7 PM. — Cotton.— The de- I
xnand has been fair, but owing to the higher rates
demanded by factors the sales have been limited
to 1,000 bales.
Sugar. —The market continues dull. Yesterday
30 hhds. strictly Prime were sold at and to
day 30 hhds. Cuba Muscovado at s^c.
I Flour. —. Sales 250 bbis. Si. Louis at $4 60; and 400
bbis. do. at $ 462; aud 475 bbis. choice Iliiuois at
s 4 50.
Com Meal. —300 bbis.. part slighly damaged,
•old at #1 50.
Lard. —l,3oo kegs Prime were sold at 13c,
Freights. —No engagement made to-day.
Exchanges. —Demand rather better, but rates
unchanged. Sterling 5 a 64 per cent. prem.; Francs

MOBILE, Oct. 9. — Cotton. —The receipts for
the week are 2,732 bales, and the exports 1.895*=
to Liverpool 1,330, and New York 5G5, leaving
tile stock on hand and on ship board not cleared
last evening, 17.331 bales against 7,281 last season,
and 3,520 the year previous.
Our last report left the market d«H and declin
ing, sales only 16 a 1700 ba'eo —middling were 104
a 10| cents The transactions this Week have
b *en still limited though larger than last, amount
ing to some 2500 bales, taken .partly for England,
and a portion for ournothern markets, at a decline |
ol fc. on all a sow lots were said
early in the week at a greater reduction than our i
quotations for the closing market will show. Hold
ers towards the close Were no* 'Willing to submit
to any lower rates, and buyers finding prices stif
fening up a little withdrew almost entirely. The
sales of the two past days do not exceed 010 bales
The new crop comes in pretty freely, in view
of the low stage to which ohr rivers arc now ap
proaching—the receipts being 5,482 bales airainst
2.9 iri same time last season. We learn that some
improvement is perceptible -in that now arriving
mcr prev.ous rccipts, aitkedgh a considerable por- |
?io« oi the « miples now on factor’s tables is of a very
indifferent and badly ginned de-cription-—showing
how much the early picking suffered from the long
‘continuance of wet weather. The market, at our
'quotations, closes quiet, but steady,
