responding week last year, 12,120 bales.) Export
ed in the same time to foreign ports, bales,
coastwise 1333 bales, making the total exports of
the week 1333 hales ; and leaving on hand a stock
ol 25;128 hales, inclusive of 5091 hales on ship
board not cleared, against a stock of 33.G73 bales
same time last year.
Our last weekly review left the Upland market
at its close with but a very moderate demand, ami
buyers generally averse to operate, even at the
somewhat easier terms granted by such holders as
were disposed to effect sales. During Saturday,
the first day ol the past week, there was no change
lor the better; on the contrary, the depression
was more severe, and prices more in favor of buy
ers tha.i previously. Ihe sales of the day amoun 1 -
cd to hi!) bales. On Monday, the market opened
under a tresh impulse, and in progress of the day
assumed much activity. Prices, consequently, ral
lied, enabling holders to ellect sales at a decided
advance on those otfered by buyers during the de
pression on Saturday. The sales of the day em
braced near 1990 hales.
hince that time, however, all animation his again
disappeared, and the daily operations have been
to a very limited extent only, and in favor of pur
chasers generally. Yesterday in particular, the
market was very depressed and drooping, and the
sales made, being in a manner forced, were at low
er rates than during Monday, The transactions of
1 uesday were G3O bales—of Wednesday 130 bales
—and yesterday, Thursday, (being a holiday) 373
hales——making the total amount ol the week’s sales
3312 bales at the following particulars: 70 bales at
8J; 27-1 at 83;2G at 8£,35 at 89-1 G; 18G at 8.A.47 at 83;

A icc. \\ itiiout any material change generally,
the market during the past week has been of some
w hat a fluctuating character, both in demand and
prices. Ibe transactions of the week, at the same
tune, hat e been to a fair extent, nearly' coming up
to tlie supply. \\ ij,|| the exception of one choice
parcel, taken for the K rench market at #l, prices
generally have varied from s3i|as;s£, principally at
the former figure. We compute the aggregate
i S m thepMt week to be about 1600 bbls,, against
LfbO bbls. received. Exported*™ sometime 1281

‘VI R* c ®. Boston 3-hi cents per lb for Cotton, and
&1 per bbl, for Rice. Philadelphia $1 per bale for
Cotton.
(rrain. Corn keeps very quiet, but prices re
main comparatively firm, as we understand that no
sales, although in small lots only, have been made
by dealers under 03 cents without, and 70 cents
with bags. The receipts of the week qy Railroad
amount to 2700 bushels.
Hour. —Bakers from whom the only demand
emanates, continue to supply themselves but
sparingly', and the market for the article is conse
quently very dull. Holders of Baltimore offer at
#(i{. and of country as #ss a $G for fine and su
perfine; we have heard, however, of a sale of 30
bbls. of the latter at While there have
been no receipts of Baltimore for some time past,
the arrivals from the country are increasing'—
about 800 bbls. having been received the past
week by railroad. 1
Malt. —-Pile balance of the arrivals of the past
week, consisting of about 3000 sacks, has been
dishosed of at $1,13 a $1,20. Since then 3200
sacks arrived yesterday, and remain afloat unsold.
a Sgi'ig.- Plus article is extremely dull of sale
at this moment, there being scarcely any demand.
\V r e quote Kentucky nominally 17 a 17^'.
Male Hope. —ls likewise dull; but as the stock is
not large, and there being always some inquiry
for the use ot our Cotton presses, prices continue
at from Ti a 8J for Western and Philadelphia.
ALBANY,(Ga.) Nov. 3.—* Cotton. —»W T e can now
announce our market as being fairly open, with a
good attendance of buyers, and an abundant sup
ply of money. A small lot of fine cotton was sold
last week at 8 cents. W e can now quote prices at
C$ a Bc, and a good demand.
\V ETLMPK A. Nov. 2.— •Cotton— "Continues to
arrive quite briskly, but few sales have been made
during the past week in this market. The planters
and present holders are anticipating favorable ac
counts from Liverpool by the next arrival. We
quote the few sales that have taken place at G 4to
< cents. W c believe 7 is the top of the market
for the best qualities.

OAKLAND INSTITUTE,
AN D
CLASSIC \L BOARDING-SCHOOL.
fIUIE UNDERSIGNED, Rector and Proprietor
| X of the above Institution, relies upon the citi
zens of his native State for a liberal share of pat
ronage. His SCHOOL has been established to
meet the views of those, who, like himself, prefer
to remove their sons from the contagion of evil
example, and the manifold temptations which beset
them in towns and cities. The course of instruc
tion will be such as to supersede, to a considerable
: extent, the necessity of a collegiate education; —or
to prepare his pupils thoroughly for an after course
j of either collegiate or professional instruction,—
Fifteen years of successful experience in his busi
ness, costly buildings erected at Ills private ex
pense, a new and superior
Chemical and Pnilosopliical Apparatus,
and a LIBRARY of valuable hooks of reference,
designed to facilitate and promote the progress of
his pupils, cor-titute a part of his claims to the
support of the public. Without an assistant, his
School will be strictly limited to 25 pupils; u:ilh
one, to 35, A fee of SBO per term of 5 months,
coyer-- all expenses of board, tuition, willing, fuel
and lights. The fee for the first term, payable in
advance; for subsequent terms, at the close there
of, or upon the pupil withdrawing from School.—
No pupil received for less than a term, and every
entry being understood to be a term, except in
eases of a spepial agreement for a lunger time, a
I liability for the whole fee of SBO will be under
stood to attach immediately upon, and by virtue of
the entry. The first term of 1846, will commence
on the first Monday in February next. Letters
addressed to the undersigned, at Oakland, near
Cartcrsvillc, Cass county, Ga., will receive prompt
attention.
Wanted, an assistant capable of teaching the
French and Spanish languages, and also the higher
branches of Mathematics, or the French and
Mathematics. S. FOUCHE.

above two insertions per month for two months,
