Sand’s Sarsaparilla-
Socrates, liie wisest and best of the Grecian
philosophers, was condemned to death under the
false accusation ofcorrupting the minds of the youth,
and even at this enlightened age, the spirit of bar- j
barism still manifests itself in condemning, untried
pnd unheard, anynew system improvement that may
introduced. Disease revels in the system
triumphs in our abodes, and men blindly refuse to j
apply a remcdyjbut still ‘-facts arc stubborn things/’ j
and show conclusively that soon incurable diseases
will be numbered with the things that were. Sero- j
fu!a, which has so long baffled medical skill, is now
«ffcctualjy and permanently cured by Sand’s Sars
aparilla, and all diseases having their origin in an
impure state of the blood, also chronic constitutional
disorders.
For further particulars and conclusive evidence
of its superior value and efficacy, see pamphlets
which mav be obtained of agents grade.

CHARLESTON. Nov. 18.— -Cotton. —There
was quite a good demand for Upland yesterday,
with firmer and more favorable prices to
than for the last two or three days past. The sales
amounted to upwards of 1250 bales, at extremes
from 6$ a 7}, principally 7} a 7}.
tiice. —The transactions of the day were light,
but at firm prices, ranging from s3} a $3 7-lb.—

NEW YORK, Nov. 15.-2.} P. M.— Cation. —
Sales 400 bales, prices steady.
Western flour $6,12a-5, steady; corn, 1300 bush
els mixed, sales at 83 cts.; other grain as before
Common butter dropping, and large operators
feel tKe pressure and the disposition to re
tferveh.
The market b.a s been swept of sterling, and some
fiO day bills have gone as high as 10 prein, the fair
rate is 9}alo; francs steady at 5, 22a2t|.
NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 13.— Cotton. —Arrived
since the 9th instant, 10,240 bales. Cleared in the
same time 5960 bales—making an addition to stock
M 4280 bales, and leaving on hand, inclusive of all
on shipboard not cleared on the 12th inst., a stock
of 114,311 bales.
In the early part of the week, as noticed in our
last report, but a limited business was done, which
was attributable partly to the daily expectation of
Jater accounts from Europe, but more particularly
io the reduded stock, and consequent firmness of
holders, the market having recovered about an Jd
of a cent on the ordinary and mi Idling qualities.—
Since then the stock has accumulated again, and
folders have evinced more disposition to sell, but
the non-receipt of the expected European ad
vices is probably tb.c principal cause of the back
wardness of buyers, who have operated to but a
limited extent, the sales of Wednesday being con
fined to 2000, and those of Thursday to 2500 bales.
On the latter day a telegraphic slip was received,
.Announcing the arrival at New York of the French
steamer Philadelphia, but nothing definite was
in regard to the Liverpool Cotton mar
ket; and indeed her dates from that port are said
Jrt be only one day later than those brought by the
Cambria. Under these circumstances, and the
Caledonia’s advices to the 19th Oct. being fully
due. our market yesterday was almost entirely at
f)L stand, the sales scarcely areouuiing to 800 bales;
fnak ng a total for the three days of 5300 bales, and
for the week of 11,300 bales. In regard to prices
we cannot discover that any change has taken
place within the past few days of sufficient impor
tance to require any altera i,m in our quotations,
though it may be remarked that the market lias
J>een somewhat easier for buyers, and ifia.t few or
no sales have been made within the last day or
{wo above our inside figures.

days later accounts from Liverpool were received,
jof a very unfavorable nature, which will cause a
further decline in our market. What that decline
will be we are unable to state, as no sales have
been made since the receipt of these accounts.
OOLUMBUS, Nog. ls*irTrCoiton.rs-By the last
news from Europe, Cotton has suffered another
and further decline. In this city the highest prices
given to-day, as we understand, was 6}. It is not
thought that even, that price can be long maintain
ed. Europe has yet to hear of the unsualiy unex
pected and long continued fine weather so favora
ble to the young bolls. Wc never had a finer sea
son for gathering Cotton, and the Planters are en
ergetically availing themselves of it. We had a
slight touch of frost last night, but not enough to
.affect vagelation injuriously, and we now write in
weather as pleasant as May. Stock on hand 7972.
