to make such rise of it at you please. For seven
or eight years 1 had not enjoyed perfect health.
In the spring of 1814. I had some cough; I was
then in Worcester County, Mass., and applied to a
physician, who gave me same medicine, but it did
not relieve me I was not able to work during the
auramer. Last fall 1 was much worse, so reduced
by coughing, and sweating nights, that I was ob- |
lig.d to take my room. My physician tried in
Ttin to remove my cough, and restore me to health,
but I did not expect to recover ; I however con
cluded to try Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry; I
was then troubled with very frequent spells of
coughing, night and day; before I had taken one
bottle, my cough wi' easier; T continued to take
the medicine until I was able to leave my room. I

Dr. Jayne: Sir—l take great pleasure in inrorm

time been exceedingly thin, but for two or three
years past it bad so fallen out that my head had
become almost entirely bald. I was under the

Augusta Market. Jan. 19.
COTTON.—During the past week there has been &
joud demand for Cotton iu tins market, and as the
quantity offering ha* increased, we have to report one of
ihc largest week’s transactions noticed for the past
month or two—the total sales summing up 4685 bales,
: viz: 1108 on Wednesday, 783 on Thursday, 992 on Fri
day, 420 on Saturday ,824 on Monday and 558 yesterday up
to 2 o’clock. The particulars of the above sales \\ ere :
13 at 6, 100 at 6J, 21 at 6*, 119 at G.t, 08 at 6f, 200 at tlj,
281 at 6J, 704 at7, 90 at 7 1-16, 78s aI7J, 152 at 7 3-16,
1494 at 7j,33at 7 5 16, at
a fancy crop lot at 7J cents. Tbi* latter sale should not
be considered by planters as a criterion of oiir market,
for it was one of those lots of cotton, Where the planter
is known to lake part cular pains in handling it, and
from its reputation, will always bring \ cent o'er the
highest iaark<-t price. The receipts this week have also
been larger than tor some time past, and will no doubt
continue so for a month or two to conic. Those, how
ever. who expect as large a crop from Georgia as last
year, will be disappointed, for from the best informa
tion we can gather, there « ill be a material falling off
in middle Georgia, nearly one-third. As regards prices,
we have this week to notice an improvement of about
jtb cent, particularly on qualities above good middling,
and at this advance, holders have found no difficulty in
effecting sales. The lower qualities are more dilficull of
sale, particularly in round bales, and when sold holders
have to submit to a reduction of j age. from prices paid
for same description of Cotton in square bales. We al
ter our quotations to conform to present prices, and
quote, for square bales,

1 CR iCERIES.— There continues to be a fair business
u.tn..acted in the Grocery line, but a.s heretofore noticed,
: it has been confined principally to the filling of small
country orders. ‘The stocks of our merchants were never
1 better at tills season of the year than at the present mo'
| incut, and every arrival adds thereto. Our quotations,
i on the other side, will give a fair index as to prices, but
I ,»ur country friends must bear in mind they are fur
' wholesale transactions, and that rates are in every in
stance higher for small transactions, or such as are ordi
narily embraced in filling small country orders. They
must not expect our merchants to buy 50 or 100 hhds.
St. Croix Sugar at 6 a 10c. per lb. and retail it out by the
dollar or two dollars worth, at the same price.
CORN.—The few sales made this week have been at
prices ranging from 50 to 52 cents per bushel in sacks,
j sacks included. A small lot of white was sold at 53,
: but holders generally are reluctant sellers at these prices
, and the greater portion refuse to sell at them. We cun-
I limit to quote sack corn at 50 a 53 and shcHed at 45 f.
i 48 cents per bushel.
SALT Stick Salt is getting scarce and there is none
now remaining in first bands. It is retailing from stores
at $1 62 per sack; and loose at 45cts. per bushel.
MOLASSES.—Market now well supplied with Cuba
and New Orleans, —the latter description is stl ing in
| small lots at 33 cents per gallon.
| DOMESTIC LIQUORS—There is now a fair supply
of all descriptions on hand. Whisky is retailing from
: stores at 31 a 32 cents.
BACON.—No receipts this week, and the demand
limited. Our quotations may be considered as nominal.
BAGGING, i.c.—Not much demand for Bagging—
business confined to the supplying of small country or
ders, within the range of quotations. Bale Rope is still
scarce, and the retail price is 10c.
COFFEE.—The stock on hand is good of all descrip
tions. Sales have been reported to us of about 153 bags
Rio, in lots, at 6* a 8J cents.
SUGAR'.—Good supply of all descriptions on hand,
and our quotations will give a fair index of the market
when a hhd. or more is purchased.
EXCHANGE.—Northern is still scarce, and our Banks
are selling Sight Checks on New York, in limited
amounts, at 1 per cent prem. They purchase GO day bills
at interest off.
FREIGHTS.—The River is still in boating order
for light draft boats. Not much Freight offering to either
Savannah or Charleston. No change in rates.

NEW YORK, J an. 14,6 I*. M.—Flour continues
du 1, with but few operations in anything but in
ferior qualities. The sales to day amount to oOiHJ
barrels at £6aG.I2J, for V* estern hands of various
descriptions Genesee and Southern are held
higher than buyers are willing to go.
The operations in Corn have also been light. The
sales do not exceed 7000 bushels at GGa6B for new
and 71a75 for old.
Cotton is firm, but inactive. About 300 bales
were sold to spinners.
The Cambria was advertised to leave Liverpool
for New York on the Ist of January, and is there
fore thirteen days out and unless she has lost her
good sailing qualities, ought to be in to-morrow.
She will probably bring some intelligence with re
gard to the delay of toe steamer Washington, for
which much anxiety is felt.
CHRLESTON, Jan. 18.— Cotton. —There was
again a good demand for Uplands yesterday, with
transactions amounting to upwards of 1000 bales

I could not close my eyes during iho nigut, and i
would walk the roam half the time. For out a
