A gentleman in the south of Europe, and Pales

in favor of JEW DAVID’S PLASTER, and of the
(as he considered) miraculous cures it had per
jj formed, that he was induced to try it on his own
person, tor a Lung and Liver Affection, the re
moval of which had been the chief object of bis
journey, but which had resisted the genial and de
licious clime.
He accordingly applied a plaster on the right

other between the shoulders, and on* over the re

TO THE AFFLICTIIB
Have you a cough, cold, or the consumption! ,
It j’ou have, try Dr Hastings, Compound ;
Syrup of Naphtha, f his medicine is the discove
ry of the celebrated Dr. Hastings, Senior Physi
cian to the Blenheim Free Dispensary ol London. t
Dr Hastings bad his > ,rly attention drawn to the ;
consideration of the causes of, and the cure for
consumption, and after numerous experiments, and
long years of patient and laborious study, discov- .
ered that Wood Naphtha com ounded w ith other
vegetable substances, was a certain and speedy
cure for consumption, and all diseases of the lungs. 1
The Naphtha being of a very volatile nature, im- !
mediately rises to the lung*, the scat of the dis
ease, and attacking it in its stronghold, destroy » all i
tubercles that have formed upon the lungs, and i
prevents the formation of others. For coughs aud i
colds it is an invaluable remedy, curing the most I
severe in an incredible short space of time. A I
single bottle will prove the virtue of this remedy,
in fact, a single dose will effect an almost instsnta- f
neons relief.
Hastings’ Compound Syrup of Naphtha
| IS now being u-ed in nearly all our hospitals, and
is also coming into rapid u*e among all our best
physicians, lor coughs, colds, and all diseases ol
the lungs. It has been recommended in the worst
state el consumption by the celebrated physician,
Dr. Mott, of New York; and Dr. Arnold, of Sa
vannah, Geo., writing to the agent at New York f
under date of Jan. 30th, 1843. says ;—“ 1 received- *
the half-dozen Hastings’Naphtha Byrup, ordered 1
from you, aud am convinced that Naphtha is the '
principal ingredient. Enclosed is twenty-five dol- i
Pars, .or which you w ill send me two dozen and-a
hatl bottles more, i have two patients in the Ma *
rinc Hospital, whom 1 think will be benefited by ‘
it.”
Dr. Lenoir of Lenoir’s Landing, Tenn., writes
as follow*:— •* 1 procured some of Dr. Hastings’ I
Naphtha Syrup from Philadelphia, and enclosed
send j'ou ten dollars for one dozen moie bottles. 1 ]
consider it a very valuable medicine for all dis
eases of the lungs.” *
Savannah, Feb. 9fh, 1843.
Mr. M. A. F. Harrison
Dear Sir-—At the suggestion of Dr. Arnold, the
Physician ot the Hospital ot which 1 am one ol
the directors, 1 would like to supply myself with '
Hastings Wood Naphtha. The Doctor ordered,
some days since, some for the use of the Hospital.
Should you deem proper to send the article on '
liberal terms, I can forward the sale of it in our
