Cotton. —The sales to-day reach 3390 bales,
at firmer prices.
Charleston, Jan, 13. p. m.
Cotton.— The market is depressed, and prices
in favor of the buyer. Sales to day 1100
bales, at 12 to 13£ cents.
Augusta Market? January 13—P. M. B
COTTON.— Th s morning our market opened
with but a limited demand, and although some
lew holders shew a disposition to meet buyers at
slightly reduced prices, the transactions were
limited. Towards afternoon, however, a better
demand sprung up, and although sales weie lim
ited, holders, generally, realized Saturday’« prices
for a i sold. The next steamer's news is looked
for with much anxiety by all parties.
THE RIVER—Is sti lin good boating order.
CHATTANOOGA, Jan. 9 otton.— -Since
our last, we have no sales to report, as the re
ceipts have been very limited, and holders were
disposed to wait the steamer’s news. The news
by the Niagara brought advices of $ to si. ad
vane s, and sales to the amount of 65,000 oales;
this will have a tendency to m ike our market
firm at the following prices, and at which we
rate our quotations: Middling 11$ a Ilf; Good
j iddiing 11$ a Ilf; Midd.ingTail 12 a 12$.
The steamer James Jackson arrived Thursday
with 407 bales Cotton.
The Riv r. — The weather is now, and has been
for several days, exceedingly warm for the season
of the year. The River is in good boating con
dition. but few Flat Boats have yet come in.—
1 here seems to be an abutuiaace of green and
dried Fruit. C irn, Oats, Fodder, &c., is in de
mand. Tbe large shipments ol Flour from Ohio
to this place, will cause a reduction m the price.
Irish Potatoes are in demand and high. Produce
generally meets ready sale.
MONTGOMERY,Jan 8. Cotton.— The news
by the Canada of a further advance of auegbth
to a quarter of a penny in the Liverpool market,
wbie.i reached ibis city by teiegraph Monday
evening, create ! quite a fluiry in our market, at d
prices ran up tor the better qiadties on Tuesday
to l2sc. Buyers, however after time for reflection
whicn Tuesday night afforded, entered the mar,
ket this morning at a reduction ol $ on the previ
ous day's rates, which checked operations to a
consiieiabe extent. The m trket closed q net
this evening at 12$ f>r Middlings to .2$ for uood
Middlings.
SAVANNAH, Jan 11.— Cotton. — The market
was very dull y esierday, cau ed no doubt by the
inclemency of ihe weather; the sales were limit
ed to 383 bales, as foliow-: 30 at 12$; 62 at 13; 99
at IJ£; 25 at 13$; 48 at J3f; 70 at 13$; 34 at 13$;
a id 15 bales at 13$ cents.
