Augusta Market? January *5.
COTTON. —Our market opened on We’&> e^a y
morning last with a brisk demand, and as' holders
shew more disposition to meet the views of buy
ers, the sales were large, reaching nearly 3
bales, Good Middling at 12$, Middling Fair at 13 a

weather was inclement, and the transactions
limited. Friday and Saturday the market was
quiet, v. ith limited sales, all parties seeming dis
posed to await the steamer’s news, thenpast due,
before operating further. On Monday the market
opened quiet—some holders evinced a disposition
to yield a little in order to effect sales, but buyers
were reluctant operators, and but few transac
tions took place in the morning. In the afternoon
a better demand sprung up, and sales were made
at Saturday’s prices. Yesterday, Tuesday, the
market was quiet, all parties anxiously looking
for the steamer’s news, now past due. The
•sales of the week sum up 6.232 bales, at the
following prices : 3 at Ilf; 32 at 11 4; 4 at Ilf; 4

Southern manufactures should give our Mills a pre

an article as can be procured North, for a less
price.
FEATHERS.—There is a good demand for
this article, and holders have been able to get 33
cents per lb. by the small quantity or large.
Some holders are asking 35 cents by the small

the demand. Sales from stores are making by

MEDICINAL USES OF THE WILD
CHERRY.
Ever since the settlement of America, Wild
Cherry has been known to possess very im
portant medicinal virtues. Everv body knew this
fact, but no body knew how to ext- act its essen
tial properties. Every mother gives Wild Cherry
tea to her children for worms, lor co.ds, and for
a most every disease ; and adults throughout our
country are in the habit of making a compound of
syrup of Wild Cherry bark and other ingredients,
to be used in spring as an antidote 'o complaints
incident to that changeful season. It is found by
experiment that the Wild Cherry possesses even
far more important qualities than was ascribed to
it. For the first stage of Consumption, Asthma,
no matter how long standing. Coughs, Liver Com
plaints, etc., it is proved to be the best medicine
known to man. Dr. Wistar’s Balsam of Wild
Cherry is a chemical extract, combined with a
simitar extract from Tar, which enhances its val
ue. Its success in curing pulmonary diseases, in
almost every stage, after our best physicians
coul 1 do no mo e,has astonished the facu ty, and
led them to confess that Wistar’s Balsam of Wild
Cherry possesses a principle heretofore unknown
among medical men.
