to-day, and prices are more uniform. The sales
reach about 500 bales —Good Middling at 10 cents.
EXCHANGE.-—The rate on New York is 4
per cent prem. for Sight Checks, and on Charles
ton and Savannah, par.
FREIGHTS. —The River is in good navigable
order. No change to notice in rates.
SA VANNAH, Feb.26.— Cotton. — Arrived since
the 19th inst., 8,565 bales Uplands, and 537 do. Sea
Islands—-(3,948 per Rail Road, 3,753 from Augus
ta, 814 via Darien, and 50 per wagons.) The ex
ports for the same period have been 6,201 bales
Uplands, and 19 <lo. Sea Islands, viz : to Bremen
886 bales Upland; to Providence 444 bales Up
land; to Boston 586 bales Upland, and 3 do. Sea
Island; to New York 3 585 bales Upland; to Phil
adelphia 500 bales Upland; and to Charleston 56
bales Upland, and 16 do. Sea Island; leaving on
hand and on shipboard not cleared a stock of 51,
481 bales Uplands, and 3,063 do. Sea Islands, a
gainst 60,757 bales Uplands, and 1,701 do. Sea Is
lands at same time last year.
Our last weekly report closed with a quiet mar
ket and a fair business doing. On Wednesday
there was a brisk: demand, the sales amounting to
2,180 bales; on Thursday there was no change in
prices but there was a limited inquiry, and sales of
but 469 bales. On Thursday evening the tele
graph announced the arrival of the American
steamer Baltic, with seven days later intelligence
from Europe. The Live*pool Cotton market had
declined an with small sales. On Friday morn
ing our market opened dull and heavy, and the
day’s operations were but 468 bales, at a decline
of about 4 cent. On Saturday no sales we- e re
ported ; on Monday 1 736 bales changed hands,
and yes'erday 158 bales, the market closing irreg
ular, and so much unsettled that we are un bie to
give quotations. Ihe decline within the week has
been fully |c., the lower qualities having suftered
most.
The sales for the week amount to 4,991 hales,
at the following particulars t 8 at 9&; 21 at 10; 204
at 104; 54 at 10§; 319 at 10|; 995 at 11; 310 at IQ;
182 at IQ; 841 at IQ; 378 at 11$; 544 at ll|;
1,069 at 12; 41 at 12$; and 25 bales at cents.
Sea Islands. —The market has been drooping
throughout the week, and closes with a decline of
one to two cents, The ptrticulars of the transac
tions, amounting to4Bo bales, are as follows :—72
at 22; 96 at 24; 12 at 25; 80 at 22 a 23; 130 at 23 a
25; a d 110 at 22 a 27.
Rice. —There has been no change in prices this
week, and we notice the fo'lowing sales, a t tal of
867 tierces, viz : 17 at 2 13 16; 262 at 3; 100 at 3J;
328 at and 150 at $3 5-16 per 100 lbs. Ex
ports th.s week, 1567 tierces.
Flour —2so bis. Baltimore sold at $6,25; 300
do. at 5,50; 50 do. at 5,75; and 50 bbls. Pniladel
phia at $5,50. Prices remain unchanged.
Corn. —6,( 00 bushels so;d in lots at 75 cents on
shipboa'd. From stores it is selling at 80 cents.
Oats — 1,200 bushels sold at 58 cents
Coffee —2OO bags Rio from store sold at 124 c.
Bacon. —3o hhds. Sides br -ught 10 cents.
Whisky —About 30 bbls. Philade pnia sold at 31
cents. 50 do Connecticut at 32 cents.
Molasses —Four cargoes of Cuba have arrived
this week most of whict has been disposed of at
22 t 023 cents.
Salt. —Four cargoes have arrived this week one
of wbich sold at 75 cents on time. Sales of 1,000
sacks have beea made at 75 cents cash, and 100 do.
at 80 cents.
Lime. —2,4oo casks in lots, have changed hands
during the week at $1 to sls cents.
Exchange.— W.e quote sterling at 84 per cent,
prem ; Domestic Exchanges—The Banks aie s -l
ling sight checks on all Nortbein cities at £ per
cent, prem., and are purchasing sight to 5 day
bills at 4 disc ; 30 days, £ disc.; 60 days, 14 and 90
days at 2 per cent discount.
Freights —During the week, foreign freights
have been improving, and yesterday engagements
were made at 7-16 d. for Liverpool. Some ships
were asking 4d., but we did not hear of any freight
being taken at that rate. Coastwise are duli; no
change, except to New York, to which place the
rate is now for square Cotton, 5-l6c. for round,
and 75 cents per cask for Rice; to Boston and
Philadelphia | and 7-16 c. for Cotton, and $1 for
Rice; to Baltimore nothing offering.

been quite dull during the week. Owing to the
decline in the Cotton market, purchasers take
hold rather reluctantly. The week’s sales amount
to 1075 bales, however, at greatlv reduced prices.
The market yeste day ranged at from 8 to 10^c.
The pioduce market remains about ihe same as
at our last, with sligh changes unworthy of note.
