O BLISS’S COMPOUND COD LIVER
OIL CANDY. —The first action oi thisCandyis
to sooth the organs of voice, and finally to allay
all pulmonary irritation. It certainly stands unri
valled as a remedy for all affections of the throat
and chest, and, unlike many other remed es for
the same diseases, it does not disagree with the
etomacb of the patient. We have never U9ed any
remedy that is so powerful, and at the same time
fialatable to the taste, and we say this, having ful
y tested the Candy. We would earnestly en
treat our friends suffering under colds, to purchase
this Candy. Call for Bliss’s Compound Cod Liver
Oil Candy, as numerous counterfeits have been
gHit forth to the public.

Augusta Market) February 28. P. M
COi TON.—Our market is at a complete stand.
About 11 o’clock this morning, private despatches
were received announcing the arrival of the
steamer Europa, with one week’s later intelli
gence from Europe, and noticing a further decline
of 0 a §d. in he Liverpool market. After the ie
ceipt of the news some few transactions took
place, but at prices not made public.
CHARLESTON, Feb. 28 Cotton.—' The Afri
ca’s accounts, which came to hand in tbe early
Sarto the previous week, exarted an unfavora
le i< fluence over our market, which for several
days prece ling the date of our last publication,
was in an unsettled and drooping cond tion, shew
ing a decided downward tendency in prices, with
the Middling and Middling Fair qualifies quoted
at 12 a 120 c. Although decline after decline had
followed i. quick successirn, and it w;-s at the
t.me thought th«.t prices were compai atively
low. the market was destined to experience an
other revulsion, more uisattrous than it had pass
«a through during the week just then brought to
a close. Ihe opening ot the week under review,
brought with it a telegraphic synopsis of <he
steamer Halt c s dv ces, showing a further de
cline in prices on the oxher side, which l iken in
connection with the limited demand and the
larae =-tock pressing on holders, have borne hea
wly On our market. The aggregate tiansactions
(during rn ay and Saturday las , mav b) estima
ted at 3,000 bales, and at the close of business on
the latter day, prices had receded all of | c .; from
th t period, however, up to the close of the week
them arse seems to have labored under a panic*
Each successive day has seen prices lower than
the on« that preceded it, establishing a dec ine at
{he end ot the week of three quarters to a cent,
on the prices current at tbe time we made up our
former report, and it is generally conceded that
the common qualities have suffered even to a
greater extent.
6 The mariv l at t^e c^ose t * ie wee k was quita
unsettled, and price ß . Bo irregulai, that we found it
a matter of impossibility to arrange a list of quo
tations for this day’s paper. The receipts since
our last comprise 9592 bales, and tbe sales in the
same time may be summed up as follows, viz : Fri
day 1/00 bales; Saturday 1/00; Monday 1,277;
Tuesday, 1,635; Wednesday 1.200; and Thursday
1,500, making an aggregate of 8,612 bales. The
actual transactions were 44 bales at 9; 15 at 90:
320 at 90, 277 at 10; 379 at 100; 367 at 101; 1,134
at 100; 292 at 100; 1,935 at 100; 101 at 10 13-16: 48
at lOf; 695 at 11; 108 at 14; 962 at 114; 13 at 1 lg;
728 at 14; 143 at 11$; 522 at 110; 85 at l!g; 237
at 12, and 138 bales at 120 cents. There has been
a material improvement in the demand for all de
scriptions classed uncer the head of Long Cotton,
at about the prices paid the previous week. Infe
rior and Middling sold at prices ranging from 22 to
26; Clean Common to prime Santees and Maines
from 28 to 30; and Middling fine to fine Sea Islands
at prices ranging from 32 to 38 cents and upwards
as in qua ity.
Com —The receipts this week amount to 28,000
bushels Baltimore and North Carolina. Our mar
ket was previously abundantly supplied, and thi
addition to the stock has had a tendency to fui
tuer depress prices, which have suffered a reduc
tion on the rates current at the close of the pre
vious week of 6 a 7c. and we would refer to our
quotations a9 revised yesterday for a fair criterion
of the market at the close o business. A portion
of the receipts had been so d prior to arrival, and
on arrival at something above these figures, but as
we said before, this range will show tne value f
the article at the close of the week. Two or three
cargoes remained unsold when we closed our re
port.
Bacon.— The receipts this week comprise 274
hhds. Sides and Shoulders A portion of which
had been sold to arrive, at 90 and 90 for the form
er, and 8 to > oc. for the laiter.
Salt— Some 3,000 sacks, held over from the
previous week, h»ve been since sold at 73 cents
per sack. About 3,000 sacks received since our
las* is still unsold.
Sugar.— There has been a material increase in
the rece pts t.fis week, which has had the effect of
depressing the market, and sales have been made
at decidedly ea.-ier prices, come 100 hhds. Musco
vado, “Victoria” brand, were 9old at auction at
7c ; and 85 hhds. Muscovado of other brands were
•old at the same firne at prices ranging from 5
15-I6ths to 6fc. About 180 hhds. Muscovado, ot
f ir quality, have also changed bands at prices
ranging from 6 to 60c. The receipts coastwise
comprise 341 hdds. >.ouisiana, which have been
imported by the trade, and has consequently
checked the demand for the present from this
quarter, and hence the limit d tran-acti -ns, the
sales have been confined to a lot ot 53 hhds. of
good quality a* 60 ; and 50 hhds. weie subsequent
ly sold at at an advance on the invoice prices.
Coffee.— T.i re has been a moderate demand
for Coffee this wet k, which, however, ha- been
confined a most solely to Rio, at prices ranging
from 110 to 110 c.
Molasses —The receipts this week comprise
431 bbls. New Orleans, and 131 hhds. and 8 tcs.
Cuba. Some 200 bbls. of the former were sold to
arrive. We quote N. Orleans from 31 to 33c. per
gallon.
Freights.— The current rate for Cotton to Liv
erpool at tbe close of the last and in the early part
of the present week was |d. for square bales; on
Wednesday, however, a vessel was taken up at
7-lbtha for square and 9 16ths for round bags. A
vessel was put upon the berth this week for Ha
vre and bas a full cargo engaged at the following
rates, viz ; 0 a lc. for Cotton, and g 3 per 800 lbs.
fer Rice. We quote to New York 5-16 for Cot
ton, and #1 per tierce for Rice, and to Boston §c.
for the lor mar, and $1 for the .atter.
CHATTANOOGA, FEB. 26.— Cotton. —Our
Cotton market remains perfectly flat—we do not
hear of any person offering to purchase at any
price ; though holders would freely sell if they
could find purchasers. A considerable quantity
of Cotton has accumulated here, from the fact of
the Railroad not being able to take any away last
week, owing to the break in the tressel-work at
Ootamlla bridge, caused by the late freshet.
Cotton still continues to come up freely ; about
1600 bales have been received since our last pub
lication.
Corn. —l here is a considerable quantity of Corn
on the market at this time, and nearly every boat
that arrives from above, increases the quantity;
but prices still remain at our last week’s quota
tions.
Bacon. —Bircon begins to accumulate here, but
holders are very stiff, and refuse to sell at whole
sale for less than 9 cents, hog round; and as that
seems to be the ruling rate at present, we advance
our figures to that point.
In reference to other articles, our market re
mains unchanged.
We stated our belief last week, that the late
freshet had afforded a sufficient tide in the water
courses in Upper East Tennessee, to permit pro
duce boats to come out; but we presume such
was not the fact, as the last Knoxville Register
states that the river only rose 15 feet there, while
it rose here over 3U feet—and from the further
fact, th<*t there has been no arrival of produce
boats from that region, and but few from other
points.
SAVANNAH, Feb. 27. Cotton. —The market
was dull yesterday, the sales being limited to 528
bales, at prices ranging Irom 10 to 110. Prices
still continue irregular.
