DIED.
On the 9th inst., at his residence in the city of
Atlanta. REUBEN CONE, Esq., in the 63rd year
of his age.
In the death of Judge Cone the community has
lost a highly respected and estimable member —
one endeared to a circle of friends and ac
quaintances, by h s many excellent qualities. He
was a devoted husband, an affectionate father, and
ak nd and forbear.ng master. In him the poor
and ue«.dy found a friend and benefactor. As a
citizen, he was enerjreiic and enterprizing; and it
will not be regarded as invidious when we say,
that the young and flourisuing city of Atlanta owes
much of its prosperity to his labors and influence,
lie was honorable in all the transactions of life,
diligent in business, always submitting to the dis
pensations of D.viae Providence, without mur
muring or repining.

OIL. CANDY.—An eminent English physician, j i
writing of the use of Cod Liver Oil, says he ob- j
served, that in a few days the cough was miti- ;
gated, expectoration diminished in quantity and
opacity, t e night sweats ceased, the pulse became
slower and of belter volume, and the appetite,
flesh and strength gradually improved. Now these
are high commendations, but our limited expert- ;
ence teaches us that they are not uudeserved.—
Bliss’s Compound Cod Liver Oil Candy unites all
the good qualities of the cil, as above enumerated,
to an agreeable taste and pleasant odor. It is an j

CHARLESTON,ApriI Iff— Cotton —The pre

prices soon took a decided retrograde movement.
On r nday, the day that these accounts weie re-

only 300 ba cs were sold. Saturday was also a
very quiet day, the transactions having been lim

tended to 900 bales, establishing a decidedly lower
range oi figurts. 'I his concession ou the part of

for the article. On Wednesday fully 1800 bales

on comparing them with those repor ed in our re
