I am constrained, however, to trespass on your

Such a medicine as this compound should be
Widely known, and had I the gift of tongues and
the power, i would not hesitate to proclaim its
praises in the streets and on the house tops—as it
is, I speak fearlessly to all aad every one. My

Rheumatism in my baok is what 1 labored under,

CTBLISS’S COMPOUND COD LITER j
OIL CANDY. —An eminent English physieian,
writing of the use of Cod Liver Oil, says he ob
served, that in a few days the cough was miti
gated, expeetoration diminished in quantity and
opacity, t se night sweats ceased, the pulse became
slower and of better volume, and the appetite,
flesh and strength gradually improved. Now these
are high commendations, but our limited experi
ence teaches us that they are not undeserved.—
.Bliss's Compound Cod Liver Oil Candy unites nil
-the good qualities of the oil, as above enumerated,
to an agreeable taste and pleasant edor. It is an
tnvalnable medicine ; but our friends in purchas

COTTON.—The market to-day has been easier

SAVANNAH, APRIL 18.— Cotton. —Arrived
since the 10th inst., 4,994 bales Uplands, (1,825

for the same period have been 16,701 bales Up
lands, and 1,773 do. Sea Islands, viz: to Liver

17,418 bales Uplands, and 1,237 do. Sea Islands,
against 39,807 bales Uplands, and 3,409 do. Sea Is
lands at same time lest year.
Advices of the arrival of the steam ship Afriea,
reached us on Friday morning, and after the pur
port of the news was known, holders advanced
their pretensions so much, that ao sales were ef
fected for the remainder of the day—Bls bales
had been sold before the arrival of the steaaaer
was announced. On Saturday holders were firm
—sales of the day, 99 bales; on Monday t->e sales
were 389 bales; on Tuesday,sl3; on Wednesday,
631; aud yesterday, 186 bales. There was some
improvement iu our market after the Africa ar
rived, but the news of a decline in the New York
market produced a reaction, and priees now are
said to be lower than last week Our quotations
kave been reviewed by several large dealers, and
we find them near y the same as those es our lest
issue, the market closing dull. We quote—

| CHATTANOOGA, April 13.—Our quotation*.
■ *re carefully corrected. We would remark that
there has been no transactions in Bacon this week,
; but holders are firm at 9 cents. Corn cannot be
bought at less than 65 cents a bushel, and the buy
er pays for sacks. Lumber is scarce. Irish Po
: tatoe», dull at % 1,25 per bushel. Other articles iu
common demand.
Cotton —There are sow but a few hundred
bales of Cotton iu store, and the estimates of the:
1 remainder to come, varies from five hundred to
one thousand bales. The whole amount received
• up to this time at the various commission houses,
amounts to 17,500 bales. Thic amount would ha* e
been much greater if it had not been lor the losses
sustained by shippers over the roads last season,
and the difficulty of getting oft’ from thi« point
this season. Thousands of bates were sent to
Nashville and New Orleans, that would have tv
ken this route, but for the reasons mentioned.—
We hope, but will not promise that there will be ?
better regulation on the State Koad, by next sea*
■ eon.
Other Produce. —The large stores of Corn. Ba
con, &e., are now getting otf over the road finely.
Iu ten days more, there will probably be none tc
complain that they canuot get their freight off.—
The amount of Corn received at this point is es
timated at 800,000 bushels, and of Bacon from 5 to
600 000 lbs. This is pretty fair for a short crop
year.

ELECTRIC WASHING FLUID,
For washing in hard or soft water.
THIS ;is the only genuine article to be found
in the world ; and possesses double the pow
er of any thing ever discovered lor washing
clothes, at a trifling expense, doing away with
wash boards once. In fact, it seems to be the
long sought Pui osopher’s Stone, or universal sol
yeut; scemi' g a magical preparation, its opera
tion being of toe most astonishing char aster. A
common sized washing may be done with one gill
of this Fluid, in less than two hours. It softens
and removes the dirt, leaving the articles of the
moD brilliant whiteness. It being as harmless in
its operations as pure water, and clothing will
Wfe«r rnueh longer than when i übbed to pieces by
the common method of washing.
This Fluid is i powerful agent, to be used in all
cases where sjap is required, particularly for
cleansing milk utensils, cleaniug windows and
paint, scouring floors; in short, it is beyond a pre
cedent, as its i eis universal in the washing world.
