CHARLESTON, May 9.- Colton —The Mar
ket Irom the opening to the close of the previous
week, exhibi'ed an unusal degree oflangourand
dep ession. A combination of circumstances,
which have already beenaiverted to, adverse to
the Cotton interest, pressed heavily on the market,
and ea< h succee ing day saw a lower ra> ge ot
prices, resulting eventually in a reduction of 4 to
: ;C. on all qualities. The market, on Friday, the
first day ol the present week, presented no new
(eatuie. The transactions were limited to 700
bales at an equally large concessions in favor of
buyers; on Saturiay, however, some attention
was drawn to * ards the article, and buyers
during the day may be said to have bought freely,
aLd prices « xhibited a degree ot firmness that
had neither been sten or felt for severa days
Monday was again a quiet day. Several buyers
were in attendance, but were unable to make much
progress in the execution ot their orders, »o
there was a stringency in the terms ot sellers
that did not suit their v ews.
'i he former class of dealers renewed their offers
on Tuesday, but finding tout the latter were not
to be moved in their position yielded to circum
stances thev could not con’rot, and bought freely
during the day, establishing at the close of busi
ness on that day an advance of £ to 4c. on former
prices. A good demand prevailed throughout
Wednesday, and prices exhibited a decided up
ward tendency, with the subjoined quotations
representing the value of the article at that time,
viz . ordinary to good ordinary —a —; Low Mid
dling to Good Middling a 10$; Middling Fair 10$;
and Fair and Fully Fair 104 a 11c. Purchasers
were progr« &sing with the execution of their or
ders yesterday forenoon, at prices correrponding
with the above quotations, and between 7 and 800
bales were sold, when the telegraphic advices by
the Europa, came to hand, which put a stop to bu
siness, as not a bale has been sold since her ac
counts were made public, and we consequently
have no quotations to offer at the ciose of the week.
The receipts since our last foot up 6,435 bales, 1
and the transactions in the corresponding period
reach 9 000 bales as follows, viz : 74 bales at 7; 10 i

liacott.— The transac-ions since our last report,
so far as we have been able to team, have been
confined to some 100 hhds. which were sjlu to
arrive at 9|c.

NORTH AMERICAN
ELECTRIC WASHING FLUID,
For washing in hard or soft water.
rjIHIS is the only genuine article to be found
JL in the world; and possesses double the pow
er of any thing ever discovered for washing
clothes, at a trifling expense, doing away with
wash boards at once. In fact, it seems to be the
long sought Phi osopher’s Stone, or universal sol
vent ; seeming a magical preparation, its opera
tion being of the most astonishing character. A
common sized washing may be done with one gill
of this Flu<d, in less than two hours. It softens
and removes the dirt, leaving the articles of the
most brilliant whiteness. It being as harmless in
its operations as pure water, and clothing will
wear mueh longer than when i übbed to pieces by
the common method of washing.
This Fluid is a powerful agent, to be used in all
cases wheie soap is required, particuiar'y for
cleansing milk utensils, cleaning windows and
paint, scouring floors; in short, it is beyond a pre
cedent, as its use is universal in the washing world.
