ETBLISS’S COM POUN D CO D LI V ER
OIL CANDY.—If you would avoid, reader, fal- j
ling by Consumption, you must take a Cold in due
season, and make use of sueh a remedy as has
been proved in a thousand cases preceding your
own. Such a remedy, we unhesitantingly assert,
19 to be found in Bliss’s Compound Cod Liver Oil
Candy. A common Cold will yield to its benign
influences in a few hours, and an obstinate Cough
gives way in a short time, if due care is observed
while the medicine is in use. Unlike the Cod Li
ver Oil, it is one of the most agreeable medicines
in the world. When you purchase, look out for
counterfeits.

I am constrained, however, to trespass on your
kind indulgence, and say some'Lmg in behalf of

Such a medicine as this compound should be
widely knowu, and had I the gift of tongues and
the power, 1 would not hesitate to proclaim its
praises in the streets and on the house tops—as it
ts, I speak fearlessly to all and every one. My
c,\se was indeed a painful one, and 1 did despair

Eradicator, 1 have got entirely well, and perfectly

Just before the close of our last weekly report
the Europa had arrived, but the effect of her
news was not known, as there had beeG no trans
actions after her news was received. On Friday
the market was very dull, the sales being but 157
baies, and on Saturday but 79 bales —prices being
quite unsettled. On Monday there was a better
enquiry and 665 bales changed hands at a decline
of 4 a I cent, from the current rates prior to tne
arrival of the Europa. On Tuesday the sales
were 396 bales, without change in prices. On
this evening the telegraph announced the arrival
of the American steamer Arctic at New York,
with a report of a further decline of sd. iu the
Liverpool market. On Wednesday prices were
irregular, with sales of but 114 bales. Yesterday
there was more done, the sales reported being 860
bales, at nearly same prices as before the Arctic
arrived. The market closes dull and unsettled.
The following quotations represent present rates,
asuear as can be ascertained:
Ordinary to Good Ordinary .8 a 84
Middling to Good Middling B;ja 9
Middling Fair.... 9Ja
Fair nominal.
The sales of the week amounting to 2285 bales,
are at the following pariculars : 167 at 8} 105 at
8J; 10 at 8§; 445 at 84; 281 at
9J; 52 at 9J; I2at9s; 194 at 94; and 41 bales at
10£ cents.
Aiter the above remarks were in type, we re
ceived telegraphie advices of the arrival of the
Cambria, with four days later intelligence from
Liverpool. The market had declined 4 to Jd. in
the four days, with small sales. The Manchester
market was also reported dull. Iu ordinary times
this news would depress our market, but prices
are so low, with a small stock, that this unfavora
ble news will not probably have much eff ct.

PROFIT BY EXPERIENCE*
AUGUST, 1849.
TYli. LITTLE—Dear Sir: After having used
JLf seyeral Y>rmifuge medicines, and even Cai-
without success in S’elieving our child of
worms, yy e then gave your Vermifuge according
to directions, which soon caused the expulsion oil
a large quantity of worms. After that, the
got well immediately.
(Signed) E. Esel*., of Houston co.
When a child is loaded with worms, or pris
trated with their effects, it is not always safe, by
any aeau3. to give Calomel, because it excites
too much action, and together with the displace
ment of the worms, w(U often s;nk a child before
tfluefi else can be fioue for it. Un tfie other hand,
Little’s Vermifuge is perfectly safe, and produces
nq such excitement, is much more destructive to
worms, and at the same time gradually expels
them.
