(fommcreial, Augusta Market, June 25. COTTON.—The market during the past week has heen steady, with a fair demand for the better grades, while qualities ranging from Middling down are almost unsale able unless to manufacturers in this vicinity. The re cent intelligence from Europe has had no perceptible in fluence on our market, and the sales made during the week were at the quotations given below. We omit those for Inferior, Ordinary and Middling, as there is no de mand for these qualities. It must be a strict classifica tion to bring our outside figures. QUOTATIONS. The stocks of our mer chants are good for the season of the year, and every ar rival is adding to the assortments. On the opening of the Fall Trade, our Merchants will be prepared for a heavy business. BAGGING.—There is some enquiry for Bagging, and sales of Gunny are making to planters, in small lots, at 16 cents. There is a good stock of Gunny on hand. Os Dundee the stock is light—held at 12$ cents. No Ken tucky Bagging in market. BALE ROPE.—There is a good stock of Kentucky on hand, and sales are making at 8$ to 9$ cents, by the small quantity. BACON.—The stock on hand is more than equal to demand, and prices, if any thing, are easier. Western Sides are worth 10} to cents by the quantity—the latter price for a good article; Shoulders 9$ cents. Thero is some tainted Bacon in market, which can bo had much lower. LARD.—Good is scarce, and sells readily at 11 cents by wholesale, and 12$ at retail. We quote City Mills Flour from now Wheat s7s a 8; from old $6 to s7s. WHEAT.—Some few parcels of prime White have been received, and met with ready sale at $1,25 per bush el ; good new Red is worth sl. Our Cherokee friends would do well, by sending their Wheat early to market. They will find ready sale and good prices in the Augus ta market. COFFEE.—There is a fair stock on hand, and prices still tend downwards. We quote Rio at 10$ to 11 cents, the latter price by the small quantity. CORN.—The market is well supplied with Maryland and North-Carolina, and sales are making by the small quantity at prices ranging from 85 to 95 cents—the lat ter price for a beautiful article of Maryland and North- Carolina White. Our exchanges notice copious rains in different sections of the State, which, it is hoped, will bring out the Corn crops, at one time thought to be in a precarious situation for the want of rain. HAY.—Sales of Eastern, from wharf, at $1 25 per 100 lbs. MOLASSES.—Fair stock of Cuba on hand, which is selling by the hhd. at 25 a 26 cents. On Charleston and Savannah our Banks are drawing at par. STOCKS.—We have heard of no transactions this week. Little or none offering. FREIGHTS. —Our river is still in navigable order. Cotton to Savannah and Charleston, is still taken at 50 cents per hale. LIVERPOOL, Juno 6.—We have had a good business in Cotton throughout the week, and tho’ the quantity offering has been fully equal to the de mand, with occasional forced sales at lower prices, still the general tone of the market is healthy and the quotations of last week are repeated for the middling and better descriptions, whilst inferior and red cotton has been almost unsaleable; fair Orleans 6s; fair Mobile sf; fair Uplands s|; middling ss, 5$ and 5; inferior and ordinary 3’ a 43d. The sales of the week reach 45,230 bales, speculators taking 4630 and exporters 5730 bales. The stock of cot ton in this port is estimated at 648,000 bales, of which 465,000 are American, against a total stock of 548,000 at this period of last year, of which 469,000 were American. In Manchester there has been a good business in yarns and goods at slightly improved rates. There has been rather more doing in our corn market at the full prices of last week. LIVERPOOL, June 7,1 p. m.—Dear Sir :—This morning confidence is again shaken by the an nouncement of another failure in the cotton trade, (an importer) and as long as these misfortunes hang over the market, it makes an advanco or even the maintainanee of present rates very uncertain. There is a good general inquiry and the sales of the day may sum up to 6 a 7,000 bales, including 1 or 2,000 speculative or export. The Manchester re port continues favorable. A confirmation of de clining receipts are anxiously looked for. I am truly yours. JAMES M'HENRY. QUOTATIONS.
