COTTON.--There is still a good inquiry for this
article in our market, chiefly confined to good and
prime; bul.lhe quantity offering is so limited that
I the few transactions that take place are scarcely
worth noticing. Prime and choice are in good do
brand, and we understand as high as 19 cents lias
Lecn paid this week for a small lot of prime, for
Inferior and middling cottons there is very little de
mnrid, and this description is rather dull of sole
[We quote 13 a 19 cents— remarking that it must be
L prime or choice 1 rt to bring the latter price.
I FREIGHTS. —To Savannah rather dull at 371
cents per bale lor cotton; to Charleston by Rail Road
SI. Our river is now inexcellcnt steamboat condition,
and is likely to remain so for two or three weeks,
and longer should wa be favored with rain.

the trade proceeded as if they felt perfectly secure of

Cosicealriitcd Sarsaparilla,
FOR the cure of Scrofulous, Mercurial, Sy
philitic, and other diseases, which depend
upon Scrofulous Habit of Body, is prepared by a
new process, without boiling, and is warranted to
contain, in a concentrated form, the active princi
ples of the roat, obtained from the most approved
species of smilax.
Its efficacy has been repea'edly tested in
private practice in the successful treatment of the
worst forms of the diseases, for the cure of which
Sarsaparilla is recommended, after other prepa
rations of that medicine, the Panacea, &c.,had
been used without effect. A number of cases of
extensive ulcerations, and affections oftho bones,
in simple Scrofula, and in Mercurial and Syphili
tic diseases, have been permanently cured by its
use in three months, without any oilier treatment,
except the most simple applications lo the parts
diseased. A trial of two or three bottles, in
similar cases, will prove the efficacy .and import
ance of the preparation.
It has been found particularly useful after
calomel, where that medicine has been given too
freely in scrofulous habits, or in the cure of a
certain disease. It is admirably calculated-, in
such cases, to remove all disease from the body,
and restore the usual vigour of the constitution;
and may be taken with safety and advantage
when the system is mercurialized. The use
of one or two bottles, on ordinary occasions of
the kind, will prove an effectual security against
secondary diseases; and, in recent cases, will
effect a perfect cure, after three or four doses of
calomel, of five or eight grains each, night and
morning, have been taken, followed by salts, and
the usual local treatment.
