f S 3 O T ViLOltS.—The Subscriber having been
JS- made agent for the sale of Mr. James H. Chap
pell's '■•Spherical System" of Cutting for the nseofTai
lors, would hereby inform the trade that he is now
ready to order and teach the system to all such as
will make personal application to him. Having used
the system for more than eighteen months, he feels
perfectly safe in recommending it to the profession
as being perfect. Ir is founded on entire different
principles from any oilier system that has over
been offered to the trade. I have used 3lr. J. G.
Wilson’s, A. F. Sagues’, O. Madison’s, A. Ward’s,
E. 3liue.-rer's of London, and T. P. Williams Co’s
systems of Cutting, and until I became acquainted
with 3lr. Chappell’s Spherical System and Elastic
Square, I never had any assurance of what the
event of my labors would be: but now, my meas
ure obtained, 1 know the event will be a perfect,
smooth and graceful garment; and that too, without
paying the least attention to the form of the custom
er—for all this is done by the aid of the “ Elastic
Square and Sperical 3leasures,” and they, alone es
tablish every point, and on material and rational
principles. I should not speak in such decided
terms, were it not that I am perfectly acquainted
witli the system, and have applied it to men of eve
ry form that can be mentioned, and have found
that it applied with equal certainty to all forms.
Any person on examining 3lr. Chappell’s System a
few moments can plainly see that it does at once I
obviate every difficulty in the art of fitting the j
man shape. With this system you can prosecute
your business safely and happily—every point of
the garment is obtained with perfect accuracy—for j
your way is marked out as plain as the Carpenter’s j
or any other branch of mechanism, who measure one \
article to obtain another like it.
I have several certificates in my possession from !
all the first tailors in Philadelphia and other north
ern cities, who have accepted Mr. Chappell’s sys
tem, most of whom used Mr. Ward’s but have laid
it aside as useless.
Mr. Chappell has offered a challenge or premi
um of one thousand dollars to any'’ person who will
produce a more perfect system for the specified use:
or one more accurate or better calculated for the
practical tailor. WILLIA3I FIELDING.

GARLEGANT’S BALSA3I OF
HEALTH.
Hfi The above valuable BALSAM
OF HEALTH is now extensively
known and used in many cities and
towns in the States of Virginia, Ma
ryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New
York, Kentucky, Missouri, and
South Carolina, and has performed
wonderful cures in Dyspepsia, Cho
kes, Nervous Tremors, Lowness of
Spirits, and Palpitation of the Heart;
it is also a sovereign remedy for all
kinds of worms, Ac.
It is not recommended, like most
patent medicine... as a cure-all, but
he recommends it for what he has
lull confidence it will and has cured, which he can
substantiate by the testimony of hundreds of per
sons that have experienced its salutary effects.
The proprietor has a great number of certificates
in his possession of cures performed by this valua
ble 3ledicine, which would fill several columns of
a newspaper, but has thought proper to give only a
few of the most prominent, which the reader will
find below this advertisement.
It is neatly put up in square half pint Bottles, with
I the name of the Medicine blown on the glass and
| the proprietor’s signature on the label pasted on the
) outside wrapper of each bottle, to prevent it from
being counterfeited. Each bottle is accompanied
with extensive directions for its use, which can at
all times be had atone dollar per bottle, and by the
quantity at a liberal discount, at his Drug and Medi
cine Store, and of his agents in the above named
states.
Below’ are a few certificates of cures performed
by the above Balsom of Health.
John S. Miller.
Dear Sir: 1 had been troubled with a constant
sickness and pain in my stomah, w hich also occa
sioned a tremor and weakness and pain across my
back, for which I used a great deal of Medicine
without any relief. I was prevailed on by a friend
to try your Balsam of Health, which 1 procured
from our Agent in Hagers Town, and, to my great
astonishment, before 1 had used the contents of one
bottle, was able to eat my daily meals with as much
appetite and satisfaction as ever, and can now attend
to my daily work as much as ever I could before.
JOSEPH C. COXSON.
Washington County, February 10, 1835.
About two years ago 1 was severely afflicted with
Dyspepsia, which 1 had for the last fifteen years
previous to the above named time, which was very
Much increased by my having a blood vessel ruptu
ted upon my lungs, occasioned by lifting—which
increased my complaint, Dyspepsia and general de
bility and weakness, to such a degree, that two or
three years previous to my using the Garlegant
Jalsam, I never ate a meal but my stomach became
so painful that 1 had immediately to throw it up.
Seeing Garlcgant’s Balsam of Health advertised, I
was induced to try a bottle; after taking the very
first dose it appeared to strengthen my stomach;
and every dose of the first bottle helped me so
much that in the course of a few days my stomach
began to retain and digest every tiling I ate. I co n
tinued to use the Balsam until I used seven bottles,
which cured me entirely, and restored me to perfect
health, which I have enjoyed ever since, and not
before for fifteen years. I cheerfully recommend it
to all persons who are afflicted with Dyspepsia or
debility of stomach. Given under my hand this
11th day of January, 1834.
HENRY LOUUHAN.
Frederick Co., Va.
0 . Leesburg, Virginia.
Dear sir—l have used the Balsam of health which
I procured from you, with great benefit. If not
ivith entire relief. When I procured it, I was sorely
ifflicted with Dyspepsia, attended by all its distres
smg symtoms, head ache, giddiness, heart burn and
the thousand nervous affections which accompany
t, m its worst stages. At times, such was the de-
Jiuty occasioned, that I was bed ridden. I think I
.an say that the first relief, if not the entire cure

Steamboats ; (per Choctahachie River and Bay, St.
Rosa Sound and Pensacola Bay, to 3lobile.
A Passenger taking his seat at Augusta, is in no
danger of being thrown out orlosingfiis preference
by other conflicting interests (as the Florida Line
is but one concern and under one control through
out,) and may rely WITH CERTAINTY’upon his
arrival at Mobile earlier than by anv oilier route,
through all weather and at any season, unless some
most unforeseen catastrophe should occur. Unin
cumbered with a heavy mail the accommodation of
the passengers is the first consideration. The
Agents for accommodation, Teams, Coaches and
Drivers, are not surpassed in the southern country.
The loxv pressure, coppered and copper fastened
Steamer Watchman, is too well knoxvn to need de
scription : the steamers on Santa Rosa Sound and
Bay and Chattahoochee River, are adapted to the
service, and the Agents for the Stage Line for ac
commodation, teams, coaches and drivers are not to
be surpassed in the Southern Country.
The steamer Watchman being by this arrange
ment attached to the Florida Line, the proprietors
flatter themselves, that they are offering to the pub
lic by far the most expeditious and comfortable route
between the South and the North.
The safe and interesting water navigation—the
smooth, hard, natural roads—the time and the ac
commodation, afford the trax eller speed, certainty,
comfort and a pleasing variety, which the proprie
tos hope xvill entitle the enterprize to a large snare
ofthe public patronage.

Messrs. Moffat, Plummer Jf Co.
Gentlemen —After having tried, by the recommendation
of my friends, almost every medicine for a cough, without
the least relief, I had recourse to your New England
Cough Syrup, and arn enabled to say, with much thank
fulness, that it has cured me of one of tho most obstinate
coughs 1 ever knew, and shall feel jt to be a duty to re
commend it to every one whom 1 find in need of so valua
ble a medicine. Yours respectfully,
JOHN P. STEVENS
Boston, Nov. 20, 1831.
I have the satisfaction and pleasure of informing you
that the bottle of New England Cough Syrup, which I
I procured of you on the 23d of April, has entirely relieved
i mo from a very severe cough which had afflicted me for a
short time past. After using a variety of medicine, and
finding no permanent relief, I was induced by tho advice
I of my friends to try your Syrup. The result I have already
stated; it succeeded beyond my expectation; and I cheer
fully recommend it as a very valuable medicine for all
those who may be afflicted with similar complaints.
Yours respectfully, CHARLES RUGGLES.
Boston, May 1, 1535.
It gives me great pleasure to be able to add my testi
mony in favor of your New England Cougli Sjiup, tw*
bottles of which having entirely cured ray cough which
was so severe that my physician advised me to spend the
coming winter in a southern climate, but the fortunate use
of the Syrup will preclude the necessity.
Yours, Ac. JOSEPH BRADLEE

TRIPTJE’S CONCENTR AT LD MARS A
-
FOR the cure of Scrofula, Mercurial, Syphilitic,
and other diseases, which depend upon Srro-
I fulous Habit of Body, is prepared by a new process,
without boiling, and is warranted to contain, in u
concentrated form, the active principles of the root,
obtained from the most approved species of smilax.
Its efiicacy has been repeatedly tested in private
practice in the successful treatment of ihe worst
forms of the diseases, for the cure of which Sarsa
parilla is recommended, after other preparations of
that medicine, the Panacea, Ac., had been used
without effect. A number of cases of extensive ul
cerations, and affections of the hones, in simple
Scrofula, and in Mercurial and Syphilitic diseases,
have been permanently cured by its use in three
months, without any other treatment, except the
most simple applications to the parts diseased. A
trial of two or three bottles, in similar eases, will
prove the efficacy and importance of the preparation.
It has been found particularly useful after calo
mel, where that medicine has been given too freely
in scrofulous habits, or in tho cure of a certain dis
ease. Itis admirably calculated, in such cases, to
remove all disease from the body, and ret tore the
usual vigour of the constitution; and may he taken
with safety and advantage when the system is mer
curialized. The use of one or tw o bottles, on ordi
nary occasions of the kind, w ill prove an effectual
security against secondary diseases; and, in recent
cases, will effect a perfect cure, after three or four
doses of calomel, of five or eight grains each, night
and morning, have been taken, followed by salts, and
the usual local treatment.
