April 27.— Remarks. —But one feature, j .-.gnt from those noticed in our previous late can be remarked in our market this week ■I 'hat of increased embarrassment and inactivity. H Jtrs of merchandize are unwilling to dispose of ■ wjfffo.uis on any other terms than cash, and for ■ V 4 they are willing to sell at the lowest rates. I Rut such is the difficulty experienced by buyers in I money equal to their wants, that no ope- V P [ions worthy of mention occur. r Colton Our Cotton market has at last become I lifeless. During the last week our brokers t \ e not pretended to make a report of sales, and H iu . Believe the transactions of the whole week P would not embrace more than from six to 800 bales | Itlic extreme prices of which, have been 3 and 13 ■ oonis. Vbout 4060 bales have arrived since our I Li while 11,401 have been exported. “ \sßomp»rcd witblast year’s statement, it will be I that the number of bales already brought to j n j;irket this year are less, by some ten or I ‘“' e lve thousand. This, taken in connection with I fact that our imports are daily becoming less, I ihou 2 h the rivers at present are full, and well lin | f |j with pood boats, leads to believe that the esti |j Liu’s of the crop at the commencement of the sea | f i,n were altogether too large. The crop will, cloubt | j. he much less than at first supposed. Baps'"S- —Some light imporlalions, as also sales. I Kentucky nominal at 27, and Dundee at 22 cents. Bale Hope. —Kentucky nominal at 14 ; Scotch 1 hemp at 12 cents—light sales | ‘ Bacon. —Hog round, offered at 9i cents. The I srt icJe is very dull, ami the market well supplied. Coni. —From five to 700 sacks have been import ed tins wcektwhich, w itli what was before on tiand, amply supplies the present demand. It is freely I offered from the wharf at 80 cents. jf a y —in requst at 51,50 a *81,73. a Flour. —Stock of Western dour large, and readily 1 offered at 88—at which price it is dull fofee. —Good Havana dull at 11 a 121 cents, i' \folasses.—' This article has suffered a further 0e- I dine in rales, and is wow on market in liberal quan- I nnes at 30 cents. I-’ nice —Dull at 4 cents. We hear of no sales. | Super. — Sugar of all qualities is in abundance. II hooJ New Orleans brown offered at 6 u 7 cents, I mill but light sales. Sail. —The imports of salt have lately been large, a 'nice ouj last a cargo of 2000 sacks arrived, which I is ralhcr dull of sale. It is offering at 81 50. NT.W YORK, April 26— Fish. —The prices of Mackerel, owing to the plentiful supplies arriving, retain a downward tendency. Sales of No. lat I $9,50; No. 2, 88,371; and No. 3, 83,50. Flour. —The Flour market continues quite inac tive, though since our last no important changes j have occurred in price. Richmond Country has I disappeared from the market, and the stock of J Southern descriptions generally has become mate j nally reduced. We quote Western Canal, 80,75 a 110; tales in small quantities of New York City at 87,25 a 8, according to quality; Georgetown and : Howard-street, $10; and Baltimore City Mills, at j $7,25. Sugars. —Prime Sugars of nearly every descrip tion are scarce. The sales have been since our last, about lOOlihds. Porto Rico at 6} a 71, including tome quite inferior at 6 cts; about 200 boxes brown Havana and Trinidad, 7 a 7i , tlie latter rale for prime; and 40 boxes very handsome white Havana at 10cents. By auction yesterday, 84 bbls. Porto llieo sold at 5f a 61; and 20 lihds. Jamaica, 6J a 7f j cents per lb. both for cash. Exchange. —Owing to the want of confidence, rc- Milling from the present derangement of financial affairs, the transactions in Foreign Exchange for I the packets of the 21th weie limited, and all for cash. ■ Bills on England sold at lOi a 12 per cent, prem.; , on France, 0f.171 a sf. 15; Hamburg, 36.1; and Bre- J men, 82 cents. We quote City Mills at $8 a $8 23, no sales. .Moderate sales of Susquehanna at $9. Gram. —Two parcels of good German red Wheat have been sold at 81 45 and 81 50 per bushel. Clneerseed has undergone no variation in prices I since our weekly report. White Corn vve quote to-day at 74 a 75 cents, and yellow at 80 a 82cents. Maryland Rye is worth 95 a Idtl cents, and sales of Oats were made yesterday at 38 cents. Whiskey. —For Susquehanna Whiskey there is no demand—we hear of no sales, and have no quota tions to make. In Howard street the wagon price (■of bbls is 30 cents, exclusive of the barrel. From stores barrels are held at 35 a 37 cents. Goffer. —At auction to-day 466 bags Laguayra were sold at RH a 114. Sugar. — At auction to-day 83 hhds. Porto Rico were sold at $6 55 a 88 10. — American , BOSTON, April 24.— Coffee. —As it regards ibis article, the market is at a complete stand. No sales have come to our knowledge the past week. Flour. —Hire demand continues much the same as noticed for several preceding weeks, and prices of all kinds must again be quoted lower. Sales of Genesee are $lO 37 a 810 25; thestock now is much reduced, and there is less disposition on the part of h 'filers to force sales, a considerable part of other kinds in market is of inferior quality. The wide difference in price betwixt Ohio and Genesee has ! produced a good demand fur Ohio, ami the sales have been quite freest 89 12,9 2ft, and 9 37; per hfil.cash; 1180 bbls. uninspected sold by auction 1 at the close of last week at 89 a 9 I2J, cash. We hear of but one sale of importance; 1000 bids. Rich mond City Mills, Gallego brand, sold so export, at 10 50 per bbl. 4 mos.; Baltimore wharf is offered, but we hear of no sales.
