slock on band inclusive of all mi shipboard, noi

bales Sea Island. In Cotton we have experienced
a moderate demand, at prices betraying id varia
ton from those current last week. The sales
amount to 1410 hales as fallow: 107 at 9,; 68 at 9s .

20 at lug, 217 at 11.
In Sea Islands we have no sales to report.

CHARLESTON, July I.— Cotton. —We have
not had as active a demand tin , as the preceding
week for Upland L otton; but there is, however, no
laliu.g off in price. Prime quality as heretofore is
much sought after, and fully maintains quoted rales,

cciils, winch is above our quotations. ’1 ins is a su
per.or arlicle —and even when our market was so
depressed some lime since, would have brought a
cousiuerab.e ad vance on the current prices then
quoted. Our market closed heavily yesterday lor

comprise nearly 3jOU hales, as lollows: 30 at Os;
269 at 7, 33 at 74; Hat 74; 67 at 7g, 622 at 8; 05 ai
8i; 70 at 81; l.vattll; 369 at 9; 09 at 91; Hat 91,

2J2 at 1,;. About 20 halts Florida long Cotton, in
bad order, brougtit —> cents. Our present stock of

LECTION AGENCY.
THE undersigned, late editor and proprietor of
the Augusta Chroni 7c, having the extensive
business of that establishment to close, and Cons
cious from long experience, how much such a labi
lity is needed, at least by the Press, is disposed to
connect with it a General Agency for the collection
of Newspaper and other Dehls, in this and the
neighboring Southern States, and will travel almost
coniinnally to present them himself. Should the
business sufficient, the agency will be
made a permanent one —and while his long connec
tion with the Press and consequent knowledge of
its peculiar requisitions and benefits from such an
Agency, and his extensive personal acquaintance
with the localities and people of the country, alfird
peculiar facilitis for the performance of its duties, he
trusts that suitable enqui ies will leave no doubt o!
his prompt and faithful attention to them.

Newspaper accounts, sc. (including those of Peri
odicals.) when made out each separately, 124 per
cent; when lo be made our by turn, from general
lists forwarded by mail, Ac., i 5 per cent. New Sub
scribers, with payment, in advance, 25 per ceiv;
without payment in advance,l24 percent. He has
been offered more in some instances, but cannot
consent to take more from one than another, or than
he himself would willingly pay, and now fixe
on these rates as those he has paid, and as being a
