AUGUSTA MARKET, JULY 6.
t COTTON. —Our market for the last week has
I been active, which, we presume, is owing chiefly
■ to orders having been received, to remittances
I having to be made, and to freight wanted for ves-
I sels loading in Charleston and Savannah. This
I activity and demand, were confined to the better
I qualities of the staple ; for the inferior there has
B been no demand and they remain much neglected.
I From the warehouses the sales have amounted to
I 1005 bales, as follows; 20 bales at Os, 158i.t8, 18
I at 85. 95 at 85, 163 at 81, 108 at 81, 131 at 81, 103 at
H 9, 80 at 05, 55 at 05, and 146 at 95, with 8 bales
I Nankeen Cotton at 14, From these sales, it is easy
IK to in fer the prices which have governed our market:
Ik. we may, however, quote those prices to be from 0
r* to 95 cents, according to quality.

MOBILE, July I.—Business remains in the same
dull slate as reported last week—owing, we think,
to the great scarcity- of money—as the common ne
cessaries of life are now in very little demand; we
think, however, there will be a cnange for the
belter.
Colton —Our business season in this article, un
like former years, still continues, and sales are ma
king daily for the purposes of remitting balances
I -due on previous engagements—it is resorted to by
all classes as the only exchange between this and
the northern cities; sales this week about 1400
bales—prices range from 8 to 105 cents, for middling
to fair, and fully fair cottons—moderate arrivals
continue, yet not sufficient to the demand— still we
may look tor more free arrivals, (iftrue) that there
has been ati abundance of rain in the interior as
many thousand bales are doubtless held back, but
prices that no Northern or European market justi
fies can be realized for it here. Arrived this week
1459 bales, and exported in the same period 189 b
bales; leaving now on hand and on shipboard, not
cleared, 11,522 bales.
Coffee. —The stock on hand is quite light—and
sales are chiefly from 10 to 14 cents.
Flour. —The stock has considerably increased
the past week—and is freely offered at $lO for su
perfine, by the 50 barrels, and sll retail.
drain. —Corn is becoming scarce, though only in
demand for city consumption, at $1 50 a $1 625.
Sugar. —Sales light, at from 75 to 75 cents, with
a moderate supply on hand
NcZt—Aleets with good demand, at Si 73 a SI
8/5. None received since our last.
Whiskey. —The stock on hand is large, and be
coming quite dull. Sales at 43 a45 cents, in small
lots.
NEW ORLEANS, June 30.— Remarks. —The
w eek has passed without any thing worthy of re
mark in regard to business.
I ransactions continue on same limited scale
as heretofore, and prices remain about the same as
last quoted; sales are principally for City consump
tion, and for immediate wants.
Cotton. —Sales as far ns has come to our know
ledge amount to 2807 bales, comprising 412 hales
Mississippi,at 91 cents; 172 at 9; 72 at 81 61 at 85;
40ui8;2l Louisiana, at 125: flat Uh 1956 Alaba
ma, at 7<; 59 Mobile, at 105. We have heard that
5 a 600 bales besides the above have been fold; but
could not learn particulars. There is very little
good, and fine cotton ifany, in market.
• he Exports to this time amount to 5 iT,332 bales,
and the total of last season was 485,208, making an
j excess over the whole ol last season, of 62,124
I bales.
The demand has been very limited during the
week and up to Thursday only amounted to 660
hales. The sales made ibis week, w ere at a reduc
tion of on previous rates,/if about 1 cent.
Sugar. —Prices remain the same, and demand
small, principally for city consumption, we quote
5 a 53; very superior article will bring something
over, and some of in crior quality are sold under
those rales.
Molasses. —We find no change in this article,
prices remain the same, with a very limited de
mand.
Flour. —There has been an advance in the price
since our last weekly report, we quote at 10 a 105
and some are bolding it at a higher price, but we
hear ol no sales overour quotations.
Corn. —lnconsequence of large receipts during
the week the (trice has declined to $1 12, audit is
thought it will go something lower.
Freights. —There is very little enquiry for ves
sels, and it is difficult to obtain the low rales we
quote, say to Liverpool 7-16 d Havre Ic. they are
equally dull both to Europe and Coastwise.
Specie , ty c . —Dollars, 23 a 25 per cent, premium;
Doubloons, (Spanish) §2l; Mexican, §29, Sover
eigns, $6; Half Eagles, 86 a 6 12.
Hank Notes. —U. S. Bank, 12 percent, premium;
Mobile, 8 per cent, discount; .Mississippi, 20 a 22 per
coni, discount.
BALTIMORE, June 30. —American Cotton Goods.
—A slight variation has taken place in the prices of
some asticles under this head, and we correct our
quotations accordingly.
Coffer. —There is very little doing. Bmall sales
of Rio are making to the trade at 12 a 125 cts. At
auction 10-d:ty 112 bags Havana sold at 95 a ]Uj
cents.
Cotton. —Wc note sales of old crop Upland at 91
a 10 cts.; of new Upland at 115 cts. cash ; and of
prime Virginia at 11 cts. cash.
Exchange. —We hear of no transactions in Bills
on England this week.
Howard street F'our. —The transactions in How
ard street are confined to the retail trade at 89 a
$9 50. The supply of fresh ground flour from good
wheat, is very limited, ami this description greatly
in demand. The wagon price ranges iioiti $7,75 a
$4,25, according to quality.
City Mills Flout. —The demand continues wery
active, and sales are made as last as the article-can
be ground. There is no stock in the millers' hands.
Sales generally are at $8,25 but some parcels oi'su
perior quality are selling at $8.50 a $8,75.
Corn. —On Tuesday sales of yellow were made
at 90 cents, and white at 95 cents, but since then
the receipts have been Very large, and prices fell
to 94 a 95 cents or yellow, and 90 a9l cents for
white, which are the prevailing rates to-day.
Molasses. —At auction on Tuesday 13 hhds. New
Orleans were sold at 33 a 39 cents, and 8 bbls. do
at 415 cts. To-day 18 hlids. Havana were sold at
22 a23 cents. At private sale, 3d hhds. Trinidad
de Cuba were sold at 35 cents.
Sugar. —At auction on Tuesday 130 hhds Porto
Rico were sold at $6,33 a $7,15; and to ddy 100
hhds. New < Means were sold at $6,10 a $6,73. By
private contract small sales of Brazil white, in bags,
are making at $9,50.
