shall consider it expedient to do so, by allowing I

office which is or may be established on the I
route, for refusing or neglecting to perform any I
other stipulation of this contract, for suffering I
the mail to be injured, wet, lost, or destroyed; I
and may exact a forfeiture of the pay of the trip Jj
whenever the trip is lost, or the mail arrives so I
far behind schedule time as to lose connection I
with a depending mail. I
8. He may annul the contract for repeated I
failures to perform any of the stipulations, for I
refusing to discharge a carrier when required, I
for violating the Post Office law. for disobeying I
the instructions of the department, or assigning j
a contract without the previous consent of the
Postmaster General.
9. If the contractor shall run a stage or other 1
vehicle more rapidly or more frequently than
lie is required by the contract to carry the mail, i
he shall give the same increased celerity and m
frequency to the mail, and without increase of M
compensation. V
10. Contractors on stage and coach routes |
shall convey, free of charge, all agents of the I
Department upon exhibition of their credentials; |
also, mail bags and Post Office blanks.
11. Contractors on stage and coach routes
shall, in the conveyance of passengers, give a
preference to those who arc brought in the con
necting mail lines, over those travelling in any
oilier; so that connecting mail stage routes shall
form continuous travelling lines.
12. On routes where the mail is transported
in stages, and the present contractor shall he su
perseded by an under bidder, who may not have
the si age property requisite for the performance i
of the contract, he shall purchase from the pre- ■
sent contractor such of the stage horses and pro- *
perly as may he suitable for the service, at a fair

Should they not agree as to the suitableness of
the property, the terms, or the security, each
may chose a person, who may appoint a third,
and thgir decision shall be final, or the Post,
master General will name the umpire. This
will be made the condition of any bid under that
of a present contractor; and should the under
bidder tail to comply, his bid will be offered to f
\ the contractor; but should lie decline it, the
proposals of the underbidder will be accepted
I unconditionally.
13. 'Fhe Postmaster General is prohibited by
law from making contracts for the transportation
! ofthcrnail with any person who shall have en-
I tered into any combination, or proposed to enter
into any combination, to prevent the making of
any hid for a mail contract by any other person
or persons; or who shall have made any agree,
merit, or shall have given or performed or pro.
mised to give or perform, any consideration to

14. On post coach and stage routes where that
kind of transportation is sometimes difficult,
proposals will be received for carrying the mails
on horseback, in wagons, or carts, for a specifi.
ed number of months, weeks, or days, in each
year; but no dispensation of post coach or stage
service will be tolerated unless it be stipulated
for in the proposals and embraced in the con
tract.

‘ DYSPEPSIA.
ANOTHER recent test of the unrivalled virtue
of Dr. WM. EVANS’ Medicines—DYSPEP
SIA—TEN YEARS STANDING. Mr. J. Mc-
Kenzie, 166 Stanton street, was afflicted with the
above complaint for 10 years, which incapaciated
him at intervals, forthe period of six years,in attend
ing to his business, restored to perfect health, under
the salutary treatment of Dr. \V m. Evans.
The principal symptoms were, a sense of disten-
sion and oppression after eating, distressing pain in
the pit of the stomach, nausea, impaired appetite,
giddiness, palpitation of the heart, great debility
and emaciation, depression of spirits, disturbed
rest, sometimes a bilious vomiting and pain in the
right side, an extreme degree of languor and faint
ness, any endeavour to pursue his business, caua
ing immediate exhaustion and weariness.
Mr. McKenzie ts daily attendinghisbusinest, and
none of the above symptoms have recurred since
he used the medicine. He is now a strong and
healthy man. He restorted to myriads of remedies,
but they w'ere all ineffectual. He is willing to give
any information totlie afflicted respecting the ines
timable benefit rendered to him by the uge of Dr.
Wra. Evans’medicine.
