mouths of certain rivers, and for oilier pur

presenlatives of the United States of America,
in Congress assembled. That the following sums
be, and the same are hereby, appropriated, to be
J paid out of any money in the Treasury no!
otherwise appropriated, for carrying on and
completing certain works heretofore commenced,
viz :
For continuing the improvement of the harbor
of Chicago. Illinois, thirty thousand dollars;
Fur continuing the construction of a harbor
at Michigan City, Indiana, s ; x thousand seven
hundred and thirly-thrce dollars and fifty-nine
cents;
For continuing the construction of a pier or

paid out of any unappropriated money in the

For Fort Warren, Boston harbor, one hundred
ilionsand dollars;
For the preservation of Castle island, and re
pairs of Fort Independence, Boston harbor, fifty
thousand dollars;
For Fort Adams, Rhode Island, one hundred
thousand dollars;
For Fort Delaware, Delaware river, forty
thousand dollars;
For Fort McHenry, Redoubt Wood, and Co
vington battery near Baltimore, thirty two thou
sand four hundred and fifteen dollars;
For Fort Monroe, Virginia, one hundred thou
sand dollars;
For Fort Calhoun, Virginia, thirly thousanc

For fortifications in Charleston harbor, and foi

paid, or seemed to be paid, upon all goods,
:o, wares and merchandise, destroyed in unbroken
li- and original packages as imported, by the great
c nflagration which took place in the city of
n- New York, on the sixteenth and seventeenth
’s. davs of December, in the year one thousand
eight hundred and thirty.five, and the name or
er names and places of residence of the several
iy persons entitled, as owners of the said goods, or
otherwise, to receive or have remitted to them

said commissioners shall meet at such lime an 1

n testimony in relation to the goods so destroyed,
and the amount of duties paid, or secured to
