rgMIE leading principles of the Ilygeinn or Mo-
JB- risoaian 'Theory of Disease, are contained in
tlie following propositions :
1. The vital principle is contained in the blood.
2. Every thing in the body is derived from the
■ blood.
3. AI 1 diseases arise from impurity in the blood.
4. Pain and disease hive the same origin, may
therefore lie considered synonimous terms.
5. Purgation by vegetables is the only effectual
mode of purifying the blood, and eradicating dis- 1
ease.
The Medicines of tlie British College of Health i
i cure p.il diseases which admit of cure.
I 1. They remove from the stomach, liver and in
testines—the blood-making organ,—ail obslruc-
I lions to the due pcr.unnutice of their healthy fime- ,
! lions.
2. They purify the blood, by increasing its vari- |
I ons excretions; and prevent disease by enabling I
1 the body successively to resist the predisposing j
| and exciting causes of disease.
| 3. They increase the action of the absorbents, 1
j by which ail morbid growths are taken into the ]
■ circulation an i afterwards expelled from the body.
■ 4 They restore the regularity olTla>s«* processes j
i upon which tlte formation and circulation of die i
j blood depend.

ON' Uic eighteenth ofMuy, 1833, these now truly
celebrated PiLLS were first made known in
| the United Statics, altltoughin Europe they had
j been previously before the public nearly a century
, The A mencan public naturally viewed them with
suspicion. but as ca trial they were found v.Lr.t
they professed, it was souii displaced by the great
est confidence. They have secured this character,
too, under very adverse circumstances, having to
contend with the base slanders promulgated by
those interested in keeping mankind inn state of
error as regards the functions of their bodies. Dr.
I Hrarulreih would here impress on this friends, and
j the public generally, that however different may
| bo tbe action of the Pills at different limes, that
| such different action arises noi from any alteration
!in the hills, but from the slate of the body ; they
should therefore he persevered in until the action
is uniform ; for they are an effectual assistant ol
nature, having the same kind of action on ilia hu
man body that storms and hurricanes have upon
| air, or that tue tides have upon t lie ocean; they
J purify. What so judicious as the copying of na
; lure 1 Vie see, when she wishes to become puri
: fed, that she puis herself in commotion, whit h has
! the purifying effect. And so we, to induce parity
| i nour bodies, bring about a natural commotion by
; artinciafmeans, and experience has taught those
I who have adopted this course, and \\ ho for ibis p.ur
j pose have used these Pills, that they were in the
right, becat. -e the result has been aoiinn health, or
mother words, every organ lias become restored
to a state of purity consistent with iis functions:;
and although there arc many whose bodies are in
uch a stale of debility find suffering, that all which
can reasonably be expected is temporary rciioi :
nevertheless, many persons who have commenced
, with them under the most trying circumstances of
j bodily affliction, when every other means and me
' dicine have proved altogether unavailing, have
■ been restored to health and happiness irom then*

from individuals of the higiicst lespeclahiiity, who
' iiave been cured by the use of liiese Pills since
their introduction into iho United Stales.
; Although Dr. B. has enumerated by name the
j above diseases, he is nevertheless of opinion with
j ins grandfather, the late celebrated Dr. William
' iirandretii, that r.s there is only ONE principle ol
I diskase, which is an imparity of tlie Blood, which
1 by impeding the circulation, brings on iuilamnm
l tion, and consequent derangement in the organ, or
: part where such impurity ol the blood settles; and
j tlial it is the different appearances which this in
: ilaaimatiun or derangement put on, that have cans
j cd medical men to designate such appearances by
| various names, but which are in feet, only the same
j disease, with more or less virulence. Dr. William
: lirandretii was ; o fully convinced of the truth of
1 the above simple theory, that he spent 30 years in
| experiment and laborious research into the tnedi-
I .dual properties of the numerous plants composing
| the Vegetable Kingdom ; his object being no coin
| pose a medicine which should at once |>urify, and
! remove by purgation all bad humors from the blood
| by the stomach and bowels, as bv the continuation
j of the use of such a medicine, such humors are
' sure to be carried off, and the blood necessarily at.-
j sume a state of purity ; and w hoever takes liiese
j Pills, and perseveres with them, will be satisfied
j that Dr. William Brand relit fully attained his phi
i lanihropic object. Jl is now an absolute and known
i fact, that every disease, whether it be in the head
lor feet, in the bruin or meanest member; whe-
I liter it be cu outward ulcer, or an inward abscess,
I are all, though arising from many causes, reducible
j to this one grand effect, namely, impurity of blood,
| In many cases where the dreadful ravages of ul
j ceralion had laid bare ligament and bone, and
J where to all appearance no human means could
! save life. Lave patients by the use of these Pills,
j been restored lo good health; the devouring dis
' ease having been completely eradicated.
I Inconsequence of the pleasantness of tltcir one
-1 ration, and the dose not generally being required to
i he more titan four or five Fills, ;mereiy keeping in
view the drain upon the humors,) they are fast su
| perseding every other preparation ofsimilariaiport
i Cases mni/ occur where it will he very proper to hike
! I men I y or even thirty or mure Pills ; this must, ho w
| ever, be considered with reference only to itigidy
I inflammatory appearances, or when great pain is
j experienced.
As Brandreth’s Pills prevent Scurvy, Costivcness |
