Barnett, Cashier of the Br. Rank of the State of
Georgia, at Washington, do swear that at no time
(since the passage of an act of the General Assem
bly of the State of Georgia, entitled “An Act to pre
vent the several banks of this State from selling or
disposing of Exchange at a higher rate per cent,
than herein expressed, under certain conditions;
and to prescribe the mode of punishment for a vio
lation of the same,” passed the 23d December,
1839,) has this bank violated the provisions of said
Act, either directly or indirectly, and that the same
has not been done bv any other officer or officers
of this hank, within their knowlebge, for the bene
fit of said bank.

the Directors of the Branch of the State Bank at
Washington, reports that on the 14th of December,
1839, he borrowed of said branch bank (S3OO ) three
hundred dol’ars, on his own note, and which was
paid on the first of February, 1840; and that the
above is all which he Las been indebted or has bor
rowed, or has been borrowed for him on bis own
note or obligation in that or any other period with
in the last six months.
