The Georgia wings have the severest race to run
this campaign, than they ever have had. Their ef

anticipate. “The clouds w hich lower upon their

The punitive and negative electricity of the Georgia

“fare well, u long farewell, to all their former

It is a practical doctrine with many, that “ all is
fair in politics except cutting throats.” I cannot
adopt so barbarous an opinion. It is indeed painful
to nil true democrats to witness the violence and
bitterness which characterize the politics of this
country. This spirit of animosity is partly the re
sult of a mistaken idea of liberty. The most per
fect analysis of Democracy gives these two propo
sitions : that man is capable of self-government;
, and that the laws of that government are derived ’
