diseases of our climate lo l>e found in this country.
It is formed by chemical extracts from vegetables

to have placed here as powerful antidotes to all af

Asthma in various cas**s. It cured a lady of an
incipient Consumption, whose family had all died
of the same disease. Reference to Isaac Platt. Esq.,

! only 23-80 hales, against 3i,600 bales at saitie lime
last year, ami the whole stock of all doscript-ions
now on sale is estimated at 1400 hales. As regards
the p ospectsof supply, it must, vve think, be con
sidered beyond all question that the crops have suf
fered very extensive damage, particularly in Lt>u
i-iana, Aiississippi. Eolith Alabama ami Texas, i
; from the destructive ravages of the caterpillar and
I b.^worm, ami excessive rains for a lengthened
I period. .Many planters, and those in sections of
this State ami Mississippi which usually produce
j the best cottons, estimate that that their crops will
j be cut short one-third to one-half of their aiuici
; }>uted yield, while on the other hand the prospects
in the Atlantic (States are said to be favorable for
an average production, should the picking --easoa
prov e auspicious. As regards any genera I estimate,
however, of the actual quantity likely to be pro
duced in the whole country, n tie vve think can be
ventured, upon any ba>is now existing, that future
circumstances may not prove to he widely ertyi
neous; and several weeks—perhaps months —must
yet clasp* before the probable extent ofthe damage
c;tn lie calculated w ilh any approach to an accu
rate result. The weather for a week past lias be-u
, clear, and the h*-al excessive, ami the accounts
from die country arc that tbe (.‘otion bolls which
are matured, lain, deprived if ail shade by thede
sinieiion of the leav es, are opening with unusual
rapidity; requiring the full force of the planters in
the fields, to secure the cotton vv line the weather
continues favorable, ami from tics c.in-e ami the
disposition us many planters to hold back their crops
until the extent of the damage is more fully ascer

receipts for some weeks to come.

in which from twelve to fit teen men were

marched out to ti.e number of from three lo

distance of abou t one mile east of Die. Temple,
having an open plain in front, and an ex

formed near and parallel with the fence.
"Here they waited Die approach of Die

lasted until 5 o’clock, when the Aaties either

The battle between too contending parties
was resumed to-day at 3 o’clock, and lasted

tlie cannons of both sides. Those from the
Mormons were entirely harmless, not a man

of tite Amies raked the city, rattling and
crashing through those temporary Mormon

'i'he engagement with small arms lasted
