PATENT MEDICINES.
DR. CHRISTIE’S
GALVANIC liiNG S
AND
M A ONE TIC FL IT 11> .
THIS remarkable invention, which ha* received the
almost universal approbation of the medical pro
: fes.-ion ol Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
plication of Galvanism, us a remedial agent, by means of
j which the ordinary Galvanic Ba t cries, Electric and Mag
-1 netic Machines, &r., are etuirely dispensed with, and the
1 mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any
I of the objections which are inseperuble from the tene
ral inode now iu use. The strong doses and at irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by tbe Ma
chines. has been pronounced, as era fair and impartial
trial, to be decidedly injl kiocs, and it was to remedy
this radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has
been brought to its present state of perlection. The
Galvanic Kings answer all the purposes of the most
expensive Machines, and iu many other respects are
more safe and certain in accomplishing tiie desired
effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all
U SORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN
HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and
these < omplaints are among the most painful and uni
versal to which we are subject. They arise, withontex
| ceplion, from one simple cause—a derangement of the
Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other
“ remedies” havii g so often failed, a new agent was
greatly needed, which it is confidently beliexed, lias
been found in the proper and judicious application of
Galvanism.
The Galvanic Kings have been used with entire suc
cess in all cases of Rheum atism, acute or chronic, ap
plying tothe head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic-Doloreux,
Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick
Headache, Indigestion. Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy,-
! Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, ApPopi.exy,
Stiffness f Joints. Spinal Complaints, Kumbago,
Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chf.st andSidf,, General Debili
ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed
Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc
cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system
must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre
ventive for tbe preceding complaints they are equal
ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices,
being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat
terns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without
the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is
rather agreeable thun otherwise.
The Galvanic Beits, Bracelets, Bauds,
barters. Necklaces, «sec.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings
| is notsuificieiit to arrestthe progress of disease and ulti
-1 mately to restore health. The improved modification in
; the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, fee., entirely reme
dies tnis objection ; any degree of power that is required
cun readily be obtained, and no complaint which the
! mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be
permanently relieved. These articles arc adapted to the
waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe boiiy
with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces
| are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
; affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Ner
i vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a
| preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar
complaints.
Christie’s Magnetic Fluid.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings.and
all their modifications. This composition has Seen pro
nounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most
extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be
lieved to possess a remarkable power of renderhig the
Nerves seusitivf. toGalvauic actioii, by these means
causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of dis
ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No
othercomposinun in chemistry is known to produce the
same effect or to impart a similar property tothe nervous
system by means of an outward local application. The
Maghetic Fluid eoutainsnothingr.apaole of the slisrbt
ost injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
iu its - action as i> is beneficial in its result. Fail explana
tions and directions accompany it. The combined in
ventionsare in every way perfectly harmless; they are
at prices within reach of alt, and the discoverer only re
quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy
and permanent benefit,
Christie'S Galvanic Strengthening I’las
v ters.
These articles form another valuable application of
tiie mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an
important adjunct to the genuine Galvauic Riugs and
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but
h iving this advantage of more local application. They
are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
all iutvous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases
of Pain and Weakness iu the. Clie-t or Back, Pain in the
Side, in Asthma ic Affections, and iu Weakness or Op
pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spina) Com
plaints; their effects are of the most decided character,
and they have often been used with complete success.
They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and
Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended
for many of tiioso complaints to which- lemales are
especially liable. As an effectual means for -treiigtheii
ing the system when debilitated with disease or other
causes ; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest
generally the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster wili be
found of great and perraanentadvaiilage. In a few words,
it embraces all tiie virtues of tbs best tonic preparation
with the important addition of the Galvanic influence,
which is neither impaired or exhausted, whilethe action
continues. Thes-- articles will be found entirely free
from those objections which are a constant source of com
plaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use.
UrTlie great celebrity and success of these articles,
have caused them to be counterfeited by unprincipled
persons. To provide against imposition, Dk. Christie
has but one authorized agent in eacbeityof theUuiou,
The only Agency in \ugusta,Geo., is at the Store of

HOW AWFULLY CULPABLE,
TO NEGLECT USING TIIE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSA3I OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, N. Y.
MUST those he who have Pulmonary Consumption,
or any affection of tiie Lungs. Liver or Chest,
after reading the following letter, just received from a
m st respectable inhabitant of Westchester County
New York.
Tarrvtown, Aug. 9, 1844.
Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to express the
gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you
Lave tak-u to relieve me in rny distress. In the year
1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on
my lungs; in a few months after I commenced coughing
and raising offensive matter, which smeit very bad.
Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good fur a
cough i tried a few boxes of them, but they hud not the
least ctl ct nu me. I then called in the best physician in the
place, whoa tended me a few months, but without sue
cess ; I ’.hen saw an advertisement in one of the city
papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1
pur* based three bottles, at the corner of F’ulton and Nas
sau streets, but I could not perceive tl e least beneficial
effect from it, on tbe contrary 1 think it was a great in
jury to me. Shortly after usi'isr it 1 commenced raising
blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down sick and
confined to the house for three months, during which
time 1 lost my nppctiie and fell away very fast ; 1 was
then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of
the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no
good. I again become worse, and was confined to the
house all last winter and spring, and 1 gave up all hope of
ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my
cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast
and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up
all hopeof my recovering, and thought every day was
the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF
1.l VER WORT being good for consumption, but I was
like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu
lar humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I
thought it could make me no worse. My brother tit n
purchased u bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y. and 1 com
menced taking it, and by the tim*-1 had used one bottle,
full I could sleep all night, and in the morning Iliad an
appetite for my breakfast. 1 still keep on taking it and
find great bom fit from if—the pain in niv breast is entire
ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two
months I have gained in weight >ix pounds and much in
strong h. I would therefore advise all who have any
affec’ion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to
betlie best remedy iu existence for diseases of tbe Lungs
or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement re
lative to your valuable medicine, let him cull on me, and
1 will convince them of its virtue.
Yours respectfully, C. I)E REVERE.
Beware of counterfeits, the only genuine has an engra
ved label (over t.tu-outside wrapper of eacli bottle! with

BULLOCK’S
PHOGRESSiyEJPOWER COTTON
THIS Machine is now offered to the pnblic a*
the most durable, the most convenient , the
most powerful, (and all things considered,) thj
cheapest and best Colion Fucking Press in the
World.
This Press has now been in use four years—sev
eral hundreds of them are in successful operation*
In one that lias been in use about two years,
there has been packed, over Jive thousand Hales of
Cotton 1 and it works better (if possible) now, limn
when first pul up. Not one dollar has been ex
pended on it in repairs—nor ever will be, if well
used.
All those persons who have tried them, have de
cided to keejt them (heir life time, and then hand
them down to their children to the third and fourth
generations. Not an individual that has seen them
in use hut what pronounces them 'Just the thing.”
I challenge the world to disprove these state
ments. Now, can as much he said of any other
Machine ever made? And yet Igo still further j
when required, 1 will put up the Press on the plan
tation, and if it does not answer the purpose, will
make no charge.
And again—being well aware that the planters
have but little confidence in new things, from the
fact that nine out of ten are Yankee tricks,” in
tended to deceive, I have been to the trouble amt
expense to fit up an establishment in Macon, will*
several Presses, for re-packing Round Hales into
Square, and to show to the planters that the Press is
just the thine they want. Theae Presses are now,
and will he kept in daily use, and often to inspec
tion. Now, tlmrefore, to induce the planter to
make an examination, I give below a certificate,
signed by a few of the many who have very kindly
offered me their names, since i started my Presses
in Macon.
To prevent bad work, and all sort of meddling
or tampering with the Machines, 1 have them alt
made under my own direction, and sold at one price-
All those wishing to give them a trial, will please
give their names to my Agents who call upon them,
or send them to the Commission House, where
they w ish to go for the Machine, in order that th#
Agent may be prepared for them, otherwise they
may he delayed in getting a Machine when ilia
wanted.

LIVER AND DYSPEPTIC
MEDICINE.
SN offering this valuable medicine to the people
of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis
eases incident to a southern climate, 1 do not claim
for it infalibility; neither do I say it will cure all
diseases. Hut in Chronic Liver Affections and Dys
pepsia, lean confidently advise and recommend its
use, from my personal observation ami use of the
article in ray own practice. This article is favora

John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb,
Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Ter
rell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of Lagrange*
to which a great numlier of names might be added,,
who bear their testimony to its value. Dr. Henry
Branham has used this medicine in his own case,,
and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his
opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua--
hle medicines that can be used in imperfect diges
tion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular
state of the bowels. It is useful in bilious com
plaints, to persons recovering from bilious fevers,,
and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant
women, who are subject to costiveness, this medi--
cine is well suited. In regulating the slate of the
stomach and bowmls, and promoting digestion, it ia
particularly useful.
I could append a long list of certificates, but for-,
bear, preferiug to rely on the virtues of the medi
cine to sustain itself. The medicine is-a gentle*
and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific.
