PATENT MEDICINES.
DR. CHRISTIE’S
GALVANIC RINGS
AND
.11 AC, NETIC F L UIl).
THIS remarkable invention, which has received the
alnicvt universal-approbation of the medical pro
fession of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
plication ol Galvanism, us a remedial agent, by means of
which the ordinary Galvanic Ba terics, Electric and Mag
uetic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the
mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any :
ot tile objections which are inseperable from the pene
ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma
i chines, has been pronofiuced. as era fair and impartial
trial, tobe decidedly injukious, and it tv as to remedy
this radical defect, that this new application was pro- 1
i jeeted, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has j
; been brought to its present state of perfection. The
i Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most
; expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired
| effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the '
Magnetic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all i
D BORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN- !
HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and j
these complaints art- among the most painful and uni
versal to which we are subject. They arise, w ithout ex
ception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the
Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other
“ remedies” having so often failed, a new a-rent was
greatly n»eded, which it is confidently believed, has
been found in the proper and judicious application of
Galvanism.
The G\Lvantc Rings have been used with entire suc
cess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap
plying to the head, face or limbs • Gout, Tic-Dolorecx,
Toothache. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick.
Headache, Indigestion. Paralyses. Palsy, Kpilepsy, j
Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy, I
Stiffness f Joints. Spinal Complaints, Kumbago,
Neuralgia, Nf.rvous Tremors, Dizziness of the
Mead. Pains is the Chest andSidf. General Debili
ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
and At.l. Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed
Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally sue- J
cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system !
must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre- |
ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal- !
ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices, ;
being made of all sizes, aml of various ornamental pat- •'
terns, and can be worn by the mostdelicate female without i
the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is !
rather agreeable than otharw ise.
The Galvanic Iselts, Bracelets, Bands, i
i-nrlers, Necklaces, «Jkc.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings
is not sufficient to arrcstih- progress of disease ami ulii- \
mately to restore health. The improved modification in !
the Galvan c Bsuts, Bracelets, &c., entirely rente- i
dies tnisohjeclion ; any degree of pow er that is required I
can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the
mysterious agent of Galvanism can elf‘cl will fail lobe i
permanently relieved. Th> so articles are adapted to the 1
waist, arms, w rists, limbs, ancles or any part of iiie body
with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces
are used with areater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally; also in eases of Ner
vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a j
preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, aud similar :
complaints.
Christie's Magnetic Fluid.
Isissued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and
all their modifications. This composition has been pro- 1
nounced by the French Chemists to be one ofthe most
extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be- ,
lieved to poss ss a remarkable power of renolkidg the j
Nerves seiisitive to Galvaiuc actioii, by these means ;
causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of Jis- '
ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No j
other composition in chemistry is known to produce the
same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous
system by means of an outward local application. The
Maguetic Fluid contains nothing capatde of the slight
est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
in itsac.tion as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana
tions and directions accompany it. The combined in
ventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they are
at prices within reach of all. and t e discoverer only re- j
quests a fair trial, as u lest of their surprising efficacy ,
apd permanent benefit.
Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
These articles form another valuable application of .
the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an
important adjunct to the genuine Galvaoic UliiGsand
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but
hiving this advantage of more local applica ion. They j
are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in
all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases 1
of Pain and Weakness i the. Chest or Back, Pain in the ;
Side, in Asthma ic A flections, and in Weakness or Op
pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Cora- ;
plaints; their effects are ofthe most decided character, j
and they have often been used with complft" success, j
Thev are also of tiic greatest advantage in Pains and i
Weakness of the Breast and are highly recommended !
fo>- many of those complaints to which lemales are i
especially liable. As an effectual means for strengthen- ;
iug the system when debilitated will) disease or other ;
causes ; as a certain aid in Constitutional VVeakn -ss. as a
Preventive for Colds and in nil affections of the Chest
generally the Galvanic Strengt ening Plaster will be
found of great and perinaneniad vantage. Ina few words,
it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation
with the imp rtant addition of the Ga vnni influence,
which is neither impaired or exhausted, wiiilethe action
continues. Thes articles will be found entirely free ;
from those objections w Inch are a con-ta t source of com- |
plaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. j
JTTTIn' great celebrity atid success of these articles,
have caused them to be counterfeited by unprincipled
persons. To provide against imposition, Dr. Christie
has but one ant onzed agent in each city of the U nion.
The only Agency in A ugnsta,Geo., is at the Store of

| DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
3~5 Howerv, N. Y.
MUST those be who h ivc Pulmonary Consumption,
or any affection of the Lungs. Liver or Chest,
i after reading ihe following letter, just received from a
| in st respectable inhabitant of Westchester Couuty
! New York.
Tarrytown, Aug. 0, 1°44.
Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to express the
gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest vou
have tak' n to relieve me in my distress. In the year
1342 1 contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on
my lungs; in a lew months after I commenced coughing
and laising offensive matter, which smelt very bad.
Having heard that Bhc 4 *.an's Lozenges were good for a
cough I tried a few boxes of them, bat they had not the
least oti' ct on me. I then called in the best physician in the
place, whoii tended me a few months, but without sue
: cess; I then saw an advertisement in one ofthe city
j papers of Wisfar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I
par based three bottles, at the corner of Fniton and Nas
! sau streets, but I could Hot perceive t e least beneficial
effect from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in
jury to me. Shortly after using it i commenced raising
blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down sick and
| confined to the house for three months, during which
time 1 lost my appetiie and fdl away very fast; 1 was
then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of
the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no
good. I again become worse, and was confined to the
house all hist winter and spring, and I gave np all hope of
ever getting an,v belter, aa I again raised blood and my
cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast
and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up
all hopeof my recovering, and thought every day was
the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF
X.l VERM OUT being good fur consumption , hut I was
like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu
j lur humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I
j thought il could make me no worse. My brother th' n
purchased a bottle of il at 375 Bowery, N. V. and I com
menced t iking it, and by the lime. I had used one bottle
full I could sleep all and in the morning 1 had an
appetite for my breakfast. Istitl keep on taking it and
find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entire
ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two
months I have gamed in weight six pounds and much in
J sfreng h. I would therefore advise all who have any
i affec ion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
; Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to
i betha best rein uly in existence for diseases of the Lungs
or Liver. Should any mie doubt the above statement re
| lative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and
1 w ill convince th-m of its virtue.
Yours respectfully, C. DF. REVERE.
Beware of counterfeits, the only genuine has an engra

THATED COMPOUND FLUID
EXTRACT OF SARSAPARILLA.
THIS preparation of Sarsaparrilla, is in most cases,
found to be preferable to the Syrups, on account
i of not creating acidity of the Stomach, which the suc
i ch trine matter contained iu the Syrup, is aj>t to do,
where its use has been long continued. The Fluid Ex
tract effectually obviates this difficulty; and may be used
i for any length of time, with increased benefit.

All those persons who hrkve tried them, have de*

when required, I will put up the Press oh the plan

Ami again—being well aware that the planters
have hut little confidence in new things, from the
fact that nine out of ten are "Yankee tricks,” in
j tended to deceive, I have been to the trouble and
expense to fit up an establishment in Macon, with
several Presses, for re-packing Hound Bales into
Square, and to show to the planters that the Press is
just the thine; they want. These Presses are. now,
and will t>e kept in daily use, and open to inspec
