Qet 1 _ _____ _ 1 UR, CHRISTIE’S GALVANIC lUNGS AND MAGNETIC FLUID. fIVIIiS remarkable invention, which has received the almost universal approbation of the medical pro , session of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap plication ol Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of w hich t lie ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and -Mag netic Machines, Ac., are entirely dispensed w ith, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any oi the objections which are insuperable from the gene ra! mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu- I lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma il chines, has been pronounced, af.er a fair and impartial trial, tobe decidkdly inmukious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new application was pro i jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has | been brought to its present state of perfection. Hie Galvanic Kings answer all the purposes of tho must expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired I effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the 1 Magnetic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all 1 D SORDRRS WHICH ARISE EROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN HEATHY STATE OK THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and . these complaints are among the most painful and imi , versa! to which we are subject. They arise, withoiltex ception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, lias been found in the proper and judicious application of , Galvanism. 'l’he Galvanic Rings have been used with entirosiic cess in all cases of Rheum atism, acute or chronic, ap plyingtothe head, face or limbs ; Gout, Tic-Doloreux Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick Headache, Indigestion. Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation ok the Heart, Appoplkxy, Stiffness > k Joints, Spinal Complaints, Kumrago, Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness ok the Head. Pains in the Chest and Side. General Debili : tv, Deficiency ok Nervous and Physical Energy, 1 and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal ly recommended. 'Pile Rings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat terns, and can be worn by the mostdelicate female without the slightest inconvenience. In fact {ho sensation is i rather agreeable than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bauds, Larters, Necklaces, Arc. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing, the power ns applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrestthc progress and ulti mately to restore fieqljh. The improved modification in the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, fee., entirely reme dies this objection ; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the Waist, arms, w ris{s ( limbs, ancles or any part of ilie body with perfect convenience. The Galvaamp Necklaces are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat gen orally; also in cases of Ner vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive fur Epileptic Fits, and similur cqmplaiuls. Christie's 3la?netic Fluid. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition has been pro nounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be lieved to possess a remarkable power of rendering the Nerves seositive toGalvahic ACT}qji, by these means causing a circulation of the inltuence at the seat of dis ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No othercomposiiion in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system by means of an outward local application. The Magiietic Fluid contains nothing capable of tljc slight est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana tions and directions accompany it. The combined in ventions are in eyery way perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach of all, and Use discoverer only re quests a fair trial, as a lest of their surprising efficacy ! and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application of the mysterious iiiHuence of Galvanism. They are an important adjunct to the genuine Galvaoic Riiigs and tficir modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this advantage of'more local application. They are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in t);e speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute ur chronic ; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of Pain and VVeak,.e.'S in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, in Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Op pression qf the Pulmonary Qrgans, In Spinal Com plaints; tholr effects are of the njost decided character, .jnd they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage io Pains ami Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of {hose cotapinints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthen ing the system when debilitated with disease or other causes ; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest generally the Galvanic .Strengthening Plaster wdi he found of great and permanentud vantage. In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impaired or exhausted, while the action continues. These articles tvill be found entirely free from those objections which are a constantsourceof com plaint with the ordinary Plastersin common use. IZTThe •'real celebrity and success’of these articles, haye caused them tobe counterfeited by unprincipled persons. To provide against imposition, Dr. Christie has but one autnorized agent in each city of the Union. The only Agency in Augusta, Geo., is at the Store of HAVILAND, RISLEY & CO., Druggists. Liver or Chest, 1 after reading Ihe following letter, just received from a 1 most respectable inhabitant of Westchester County j New Voik. Tarrytown, Aug. 9, 1844. Dear Doctor —It is difficult to find words to express the gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. In the t ear 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few mouths after 1 commenced coughing , ! and raising WTensive matter, which smelt very had. ! Having hcara that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a i cough 1 tried a few boxes of them, hut they had not the J | least effect on me. I thott called in the best physician in the : plum , whoa tended me a few months, but without sue j 1 cess; I then paw .m advertisement it! one of the city : papers of Wislar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I pur< based three buttles, at thecorner of Fulton and Nas ; sau streets, hut I could not perceive tl.e least beneficial ■ effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great iu ■ jury to me. Shortly after using it I commenced raising ; blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and I confined to the house for three months, during which lime I lost my appetiie and fell away very fast; 1 was | then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of ; the best pli> sicians in the city,) hut he could do me no good. 1 again become worse, and was confined to the ; house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of j ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my ! cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast I and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up | all hopeuf my recqvpring, and thought every day was the last. About this time I heard of your HALS AM OF LIVERWORT bring good for consumption, but i was : like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu lar humbug; 1 however finally consented to try it, as 1 thought it could make me no worse. My brother tli« n • purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. V'.. and I com- j menced taking it, and by the time 1 had used one bottle j full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my nraaHfqst. f still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entire- , ly gone, and I raise no more blood. W ithin the last two I months 1 have gained in weight six pounds and much in strong h. I would therefore advise all who have any affec ionof the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to be t he best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs i or Liver. Should any oqe dol|ht the above statement re : lativetoyour valuable medicine, let n.iu cull on nie, and | I will convince them of its virtue, Yours respectfully, DE REVERE. Plus Press has now been in use four years—sev- i era! hundreds of them are in successful operation. In one that has been in use about two years, there has Iteen packed, over Jive thousand Hales of > Cotton ! and it works better (if jtossible) now, than I when first put up. Not one dollar has been ex j pended on it in repairs—nor ever w ill be, if well ■ used. All those persons who have tried them, have de- j t ided to keep them their l\fe time, and then hand | them down to their children to the third and fourth | generations. Not an individual that has seen them in use hut w hat pronounces them ‘‘just the thing.” 1 challenge the world to d>.prwve these state- : ments. Now, can as much be said of any other Machine ever made! And yet Igo still further; when required, I will put up the Press on the plan- j tat ion. and if it does not answer the purpose, will make no charge. And again—being well aware that the planters have but little confidence in new things, from the fact that nine out of ten are ‘“Yankee tricks,” in tended to deceive, I have been to the trouble and i expense to fit up an establishment in Macon, with several Presses, for re-packing Round Bales into I Square, and to show to the planters that ihe Press is just the thing they want. These Presses are note, and will be kept in daily use, and often to inspec- , lion. Now, therefore, to induce the planter to make an examination, I give below a certificate, [ signed by a Jew of the many who have very kindly offered me their names, since ] started my Presses in M aeon. That a revised delineation is called for, of our I extensive territory, independently us what exispi in the labors of Sjvrux* a«»d Greene, will noi 1 be questioned. The accumulation and possession, since their times, of a vast body of laud designated : then as wilderness, or the temporary dutpain of the Indian tribes, with natural objects well worthy‘‘tv habitation and a name,” have been converted into organised counties, presenting a depsr population, flourishing villages, and extensive public and pri ) vate improvements. The Map to he published (sp soop as a sufficient I number of subscribers will warrant,) is five feet by four feet and eight inches; and is designed to exhibit as well as perpetuate the present condition of the whole topography of the State. In addition to tlie ordinary mete* apd bounds—courses of ri vers, and ranges of mountains, Rail.oads, Cample, County Sites, Post Offices, Factories, in fact alii remarkable places of the past or present day, will be shown. The attention of the compiler has been particularly directed to a faithful drawing of coun ty llu«s apd public roads, and to accomplish such important ends, he has not only consulted the ori ginal surveys and the acts of various legislatures, but he deemed it the better plan to make rough sketches of each county and submit the same to : the Justices of the Inferior Court, Postmasters, and others equally competent and obliging, and to ask for such additions and corrections as might he ne cessary, and further to designate any and all ob jects of natural curiosity that might exist. Tp many, if not all of his requests, kind, prompt and satisfactory replies were given,so that many giar ing inaccuracies the maps heretofore published have ueen corrected; and the compiler takes this occasion of returning his acknowledgments to those \\ ho favored his objects, as rendering a service not merely to himself, hut aiding most materially in the thorough and correctdeveloperoent of the whole plan. To his brother Engineers of the different Kaffrpqds, hi* thanks are due for the use of maps which enabled him not only to lay down the true courses of those important works, but likewise to malie profiles exhibiting the elevation above the sea, ofevery station from the Atlantic to the Ten nessee river. T|te map will he embellished with views of the State House and the Executive Man sion, and will be furnished to subscribers at thevp resideppesat ten dollars per copy. VVM G. BONNER, Ciyjl Engineer.
