Sold wholesale and retail bv HAVILAND, RISLEY & CO. Oct 11 DR. CHRISTIE’S GALVANIC RINGS AND MAGNETIC FLUID. THIS remarkable invention, which has received the almost universal app.ubatii u of the medical pro fession of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap plication of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Ba teries, Electric aud Mag netic Machines,&c., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without anv of the objections which are insepetable from the gene ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma chines, has been pronounced, as era lair and impartial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical delect, that tiiis new application was pro jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has been brought to its present slate of perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all tbe purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more sake and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all n BORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN HEATHY STATE OK THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and these complaints are among the most painful and uni versal to which we arc subject. They arise, withoutex ception. from one simple cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has ! been found in the proper and judicious application of | Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire suc cess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap plying to the head, face or limbs : Gout, Tic-Doloreux Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick Headache, Indigestion. Paralyses. Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation ok the Heart, Appoplexy, Stiffness cF Joints. Spinal Complaints, Kumbago, Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debili- I ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, j and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed | Dyspepsia, which is simply u nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat terns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is rather agreeable than othorwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bauds, Garters, Necklaces, Arc. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing, the power as applied hy the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arresttlie progress of disease and ulti mately to restore health. The improved modification in the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme dies this objection ; anydegree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to lie permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Ner vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar complaints. Christie’s Magnetic Fluid. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition lias been pro nounced by the French Chemists to be, one of the most extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is.be lieved to possess a remarkable power of renderiiig the Nerves SEnsinvE to Galvahic actioii, by these moans causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of dis ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No olhercomposition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system by meansof an outward local application. The Magiietic Fluid contain* nothing capable of the slight est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless in itsaction as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana tions and directions accompany it. The combined in ventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach of alt, and the discoverer only re quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application of tbe mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an important adjunct to the genuine Galvaiiic Rmcsand ' their modifications, acting upon the same, principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They : are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases i of Pain and Weakness i 1 the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, in Asthma ic Affections, and in Weakness or Op pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com plaints; their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. Asan effectual meansfor Strengthen ing the system when debilitated with disease or other causes ; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest generally the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster will be found of great and pennanenlad vantage. In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impaired or exhausted, whilcthe action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those objections which are a constantsourceof com plaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use, TTThe great celebrity and success of these articles, have caused them lobe counterfeited by unprincipled persons. MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consumption, j or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Clfast, : j after reading ihe follow ing letter, just received from a j most respectable inhabitant of Westchester County : New York. Tarrytown, Aug. 9, 1844. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to express the j gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me iu my distress. In the year i f 1542 1 contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on ; my lungs; in a few months after 1 commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having beard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a cough I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the j least effect uu me. I then called iu the best physician in the place, whoa tended me a few months, but without sue cess ; 1 then saw an advertisement in one of the city papersof Wistar’* Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which J purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nas sau streets, but I could not perceive t: e least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it 1 commenced raising j blood in large quantities; 1 Was taken down sick and j confined to the hon.-e for three months, during which 1 time I lost my appeliie and fell away very fast; I was | then induced toconsult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of ! the hast physicians in the city,) but he could do me no 1 good. 1 again become worse, and was confined to the j house all last winter aud spring, and I gave up all hope of ! ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my j cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast i : and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up j all hopeof my recovering, and thought every day was ( the last. About this time 1 heard of your BALBAM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, but I Was -like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu- | lar humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as 1 thought it could make me no worse. My brother tlun ' purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. V'.. and I com menced taking it, and by the time I had used one bottle 1 I full I could sleep all night, and in the morning Iliad an ! j appetite for mv breakfast. 1 still keep on taking ii and ; find great benefit from if—the pain in my breast is entire ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two j months 1 have gained in weight six pounds and much in I streug h. I would therefore advise all who have any i affection of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. j Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to i be the best reme.dy iu existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver, Should any one doubt the above statement re ! lutive to your valuable medicine, let il.m call on me, and I will convince them of its virtue. IN offering this valuable medicine to the people of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis- I eases incident to a southern climate, Ido not claim for it infalibility; neither do I say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dys pepsia, 1 can confidently advise and recommend its use, from my personal observation and use of t lie article in my own practice. This article is favora bly received wherever it has been used. lam al lowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup, Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Ter rell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of Lagrange; to which a great number of names might he added, who bear their testimony to its value. Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed il to many others, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua ble medicines that can be used in imperfect diges tion, liver complaints, constipation ami irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in bilious com plaints, to persons recovering from bilious fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, this medi cine is well suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful, I could append a long list of certificates, hut for bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of tbe medi cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. JOEL BRANHAM, Eatonton,Ga. Price SI —For sale by march 11 A. G. WILLIS. TOBACCO AND SEGARS OF THE CHOICEST BRANDS. THE undersigned has be.en, for months past* engaged, under the direction of His Excel lency, Governor Crawford, in compiling a Map of the Slate of Georgia, on a scale of six miles to the inch. The undertaking is how nearly completed, and he Hatters himself lie will receive the favor able patronage of his fellow-citizens—sufficient, at least, to have it published aud plated in a durable form. That a revised delineation is called for, of our extensive territory, independently of what, exists in the labors of Sturges and Greene, will not he questioned. The accumulation and possession, since their times, of a vast body of land designated then as wilderness, or the temporary domain of the Indian tribes, with natural objects well worthy “a habitation and a name,” baVi been converter! into organised counties, presenting a dense population, nourishing villages, and extensive public and pri i vate improvements. The Alap to be published (so soon as a sufficient > number of subscribers will warrant,) is five feel by four feet and eight inches; and is designed to exhibit as well as perpetuate the present condition j of the whole topography of the State. In addition 1 to the ordinary metes and bounds—courses of ri i vers, and ranges of mountains. Railroads, Canals, i County Sites, Post Offices, Factories, in fact ail remarkable places of the past ur present day, will be shown. The attention of the compiler has been particularly directed to a saiths ul drawing of cotin ; ty lines and public roads, and to accomplish such 1 important ends, he has not only consulted the ori ginal surveys and the acts of various Legislatures, | but he deemed it the better plan to make rough I sketches of each county and submit the same to the Justices of the Inferior Court, Postmasters, ami ! others equally competent and obliging, and to ask for such additions and corrections as might be ne cessary.and further to designate any and all ob jects of natural curiosity that might exist. To many, if not all of his requests, kind, prompt and satisfactory replies were given that many glar | ing inaccuracies in the maps heretofore published have been corrected; and the compiler takes this ! occasion of returning his acknowledgments to those w ho favored his objects, as rendering a service not merely to himself, but aiding most materially in the thorough ami correct developement of the whole plan. To his brother Engineers of the different ; Railroads, his thanks are due for the nse of maps which enabled him not only to lay down the true ‘ courses of those important works, but likewise to make profiles exhibiting the elevation abox-e the sea, of every station from Ihe Atlantic to the Ten nessee river. The map will be embellished with views of the State House anti the Executive Man ' sion. and will be furnished to subscribers allheir residences at ten dollars per copy. WM. G. BONNER, Civil Engineer. P. S —Subscription Lists may be found at the several Court Houses in the State. nov 27 CHAMPOO! For Cleansing and Beautifying the Hair.
