Sold wholesale and retail by HAVILAND, RISLEY & CO. Oct 11 DR. CHRISTIE’S GALVANIC RINGS AND j MAGNETIC FLUID. i E HIS remarkable invention, which has received the | JL almost universal approbation of the medical pro- I session of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap i «»f Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Ra Aeries, Electric and Mag netic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are iuscperable from the gene ral mode now in iiae. The strong doses, aud at irregu lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma chines, has been pronounced, as era fair and impartial trial, to be decidedly iNJUaious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new application was pro jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has been brought to its present slate of perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, mid in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, a.e confidently recommended in all d sokders which arise from an enfeebled or un heathy STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, Hlld these complaints are among the most painful and uni versal lo which we are subject. They arise, withontex ception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly seeded, which it is confidently believed, lias been found in the proper and judicious application of Galvanism. 'l’he Galvanic Rings have been used with entire suc cess in all cases of Rheum atism, acute or chronic, ap j plyingtothe head, face or limbs : Gour, Tic-Doloreux : Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick i Headache, Indigestion. Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy, i Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy, Stiffness ■ f Joints. Spinal Complaints, Kumcago, Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the Head, Pains in the Chest and Side. General Debili ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and ali. Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal ly recommended. The Kings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat terns, and ran be worn by the most delicate female wit hnut the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is rather agreeable than otborwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, &c. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of disease and ulti mately to restore health. The improved modification in the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme dies tliisohjeclion ; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, anus, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Nf.r- \ vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, aud similar complaints. Christie’s Magnetic Fluid. is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings. aud all their modifications. This composition has been pro nounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is.be- j lieved to possess a remarkable power of renderiiig the j Nerves seiisitive to Galvahic actiou, by these means 1 causing u circulation of the influence at the seat of dis ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No ! i other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effector to impart a similar property to the nervous system by means of an outward local application. The Magiietic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slight est injury, its application is agreeable, aud it is harmless in itsacliou as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana tions and directions accompany it. The combined in ventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only re quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising eflicacy aud permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application of the mvsterious influence of Galvanism. They are an important adjunct to the genuine Galvaiiic Riiigs and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recommended as u valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy iu cases of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in tlie Side, in Asthma ic Affections, and in Weakness or Op pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com plaints; their effects are of the most decided character, aud they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and arc highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthen ing the system when debilitated with disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds and in all a flee lions of tile Chest generally the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster wili be 1 found of great arid perniuiienlad vantage. In a few words, I it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation I with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, i which is neither impaired or exhausted, wlulethe action i continues. Those articles will be found entirely free from those objections which are a constant source of com plaint with the ordinary Plastersiu common use. Fir The great celebrity and >uccess of these articles, have caused them to be counterfeited by unprincipled persons. To provide against imposition, Dr. Christie has but one authorized agent in each city of the Union. The only Agencv in Augusta,Geo., is at the Store of HAVII.AND, RISLEY <fc CO.. Drucgi.-ts. Liver or Chest, i ; after reading ihe following letter, just received from a i no si respectable inhabitant of Westchester County ; New Y ork. Tarrytown, Aug. 9, l< q 44. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to express the : gratitude which 1 feel towards you for the interest you j have tukm* to relieve me in rny distress. In the year ; 1542 1 coniructed a heavy cold, which finally settled on ■ ; rny lungs; in a tew months after 1 commenced coughing , and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. : Having beard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a cough 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they had not thg i least effect on me. I then called in the best physician in the place, who a. tended me a few mouths, but witiiout sue | cess; I then saw an advertisement in one of the city papers of VV is tar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which J pur- based three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nas- I sau streets, but 1 could not perceive ti e least beneficial : effect from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in j jury to me. Shortly after using it I commenced raising blood in large quantities; IJwas taken down nick and j confined to the house lor three months, during which , j time 1 lost my appetite and fell away very fast; 1 was I then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of ! the best physicians in the city,) but be could do me no j good. I again become worse, and was confined to the ‘ j house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of 1 ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my , j cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast ' ■ and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up ! all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was I the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF i I.IVERWORT being good for consumption , hut I was ! like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu i lar humbug; 1 however finally consented to try it, as I | thought it could make me no worse. My brother tic n purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. V.. and I com menced taking it, and by the time 1 had used one bottle, j full I could sleep all night, and in the morning Iliad an appetite/or my breakfast. I still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—tiie pain in my breast is entire- j I ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the lust two ; months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in 1 ' streng h. I would therefore advise all who have any afieciionof the Lungs or Liver to try tiie Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to bethe best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement re- j lativetoyour valuable medicine, let h.m call on me, and I will convince them of its virtue. In one that has been in use about two years, there has been pocked, over Jive thousand Bales of Cotton ! and it works better (if possible) now, than I when first put up. Not one dollar has been ex pended on it in repairs—nor ever will be, if well used. All those persons who have, friedthem, have de cided to keep them their life time, and then hand them down to their children to the third and fourth generations. Not an individual that has seen them in use but what pronounces them ’fust the thing.” I challenge the world to disprove these state ments. Now, can as much be said of any other Machine ever made? And yet Igo still further; when required, I will put up the Press outhe plan- I tation, and if it does not answer the purpose, will ■ make no charge. And again—being well aware that the planters j have but little confidence in new things, from the fact that nine out of ten are Yankee tricks,” in tended to deceive, I have been to the trouble and expense to fit up an establishment in Macon, with several Presses, for re-packing Round Bales into Square, and to show to the planters that the Press is just the thing they want. These Presses are now, and will be kept in daily use, and open to inspec tion. Now, therefore, to induce the planter to make an examination, I give below a certificate, signed by a fete of the many who have very kindly offered me their names, since I started my Presses in Macon. IN offering this valuable medicine to the people of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis i eases incident to a southern climate, Ido not claim J for it infalihilily; neither do I say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dys pepsia, I can confidently advise and recommend its use, from my personal observation and use of the I article in my own practice. This article is favora ! hly received wherever it has been used. lam al lowed to refer to Mr, George Heard of Troup, Mr. j John Warren of Coluniiujs, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Ter rell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of Lagrange; to which a great ntimlter of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value. Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua ble medicines that can be used in imperfect diges tion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular mate of the bowels. It is useful in bilious com plaints, to persons recovering from bilious fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, this medi cine is well suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. I could append a long list of certificates, but for bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. The undertaking is how nearly completed, and he flatters himself he will receive the favor* | able pat ronage of his fellow-citizens—sufficient, at least, to have it published anil placed in a durable I form. That a revised delineation is called for, of our extensive territory, independently of what exists in the labors of St urges and Greene, will not be questioned. The accumulation and possession, since their times, of a vast body of land designated then as wilderness, or the temporary domain of the Indian tribes, with natural objects well worthy “a habitation and a name,” have been converted into organised counties, presenting a dense population, flourishing villages, and extensive public and pri vate improvements. The Vlap to be published (so soon as a sufficient number of subscribers will warrant,) is five feet by four feel and eight inches- and is di signed to exhibit as well as perpetuate the present condition of the whole topography of the State. In addition to the ordinary metes and hounds—Courses of ri vers, and ranges of mountains. Railroads, Canals, County bites. Post Offices, Factories, in fact all remarkable places of the past or present day, will be shown. The attention of the compiler has bei n particularly directed to a faithful dravvingof coun ty lines and public roads, and to accomplish such important ends, he has not only consulted the ori ginal surveys and the acts of various Legislatures, but be deemed it the better plan to make rough ! sketches of each county and submit the same to the Justices of the Inferior Court. Postmasters, and others equally competent and obliging, and to ask for such additions and corrections as might be ne cessary, and further lo designate any and ail ob jects of natural curiosity that might exist- To j many, if not all of his requests, kind, prompt a«d satisfactory replies were given .s*» that many glar ing inaccuracies in the maps lieretofore published have l>een corrected; atid the compiler takes this j occasion of returning his acknowledgments to those w ho favored his objects, as rendering a service not merely to himself, but aiding most materially in the thorough and correct developenrent of the whole plan. To his brother Engineers of the different Railroads, bis thanks are due for the use of maps which enabled him not only to lay down the true courses of those important works, but likewise to make profiles exhibiting the elevation above the sea, of every station from the Atlantic to the Ten nessee river. The map will I e embellished w ith views of the State House and the Executive.Man* j sion. and will he furnished to subscribers at their 1 residences at ten dollars per copy. V\ 31. G.
