Oct 11 DR. CHRISTIE’S GA L V A N I C RIN G S AND .MAGNETIC FLUID. rWNHIS remarkable invention, which has received the JL almost universal approbating of the medical pro fession of Great Britain, comprises'an entirely new ap plication of Galvanism, as n remedial agent, by means of which the ordin iry Galvanic 15a tones. Electric aud Mag netic Machines, Ac., are finitely dispensed w ith, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are insuperable from the gene ral mode now in use. The strong do.-es, aud at irregu lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma chines, has bem pronounced, as cr a fair and impartial trial, tube decidedly INJURIOUS, and it was to remedy this radical delect, that this new application was pro jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has been brought to its present slate of perfection. The Galvanic Kinks answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all D BORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN HEATHY SPATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and these complaints are among the most painful and uni versal to which we are subject. They arise, wilhontcx ception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judicious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire suc cess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap plying to the head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic-Doloreux Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses. Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp. Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy, Stiffness . f Joints, Spinal Complaints, Kuhbago, Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizzinf.ss of the Head. Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debili ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and ali. Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must he witnessed To be believed, and as a certain pre ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat terns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is rather agreeable tban otharw ise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, Ac. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to urresithe progress of disease and ulti mately to restore health. The improved modification in the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme dies this objection ; any degree of power that is required can readily" be obtained, and no complaint which the i mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail lo be permanently relieved. Tin se articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ilie body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Nf.cklaces are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Ner vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a | preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar | complaints. Christie’s Magnetic Fluid. } Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition has been pro- | nounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most extraordinary discoveries of modern echemce. It is be lieved to possess a remarkable power of Rendermig the | Nerves seiisitive to Galvaiuc actioii, by these means causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of dis- ! ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effector to impart a similar property to the nervous i system by means of an outward local application. The Maguetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slight- j est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless | in its action as it is beneficial in its result. Full explaua- j tions and directions accompany it. The combined in- | ventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they are j at prices within reach of all, and tne discoverer only re- \ quests a fair trial, as a lest of their surprising efficacy ! and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Pias ters. These articles form another valuable application of the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an important adjunct to the genuine Galvauic Kiiigs and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but • hiving this advantage of more local application. They j are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy' in cases of Pain and Weakness i i the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, in Asthmitic Affections, and in Weakness or Op pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com plaints; their effects arc of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. : They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains aud Weakness of the Breast, aud are highly recommended | for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. MUST those he who have Pulmonary Consumption, ‘ or any affection of the Lungs Liver or Chest, , after reading ihe following letter, just received from a meat respectable inhabitant of Westchester County 1 New Yoik. Tarrytown, Aug. 9, D'44. Dear Doc It—lt is difficult to find words to express the i gratitude wkieh I feel towards you for the interest you j j have tak n lo relieve me in my distress. In the year j 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on , my lungs; in a lew mouths after 1 commenced coughing | j aud raising offensive matter, which smell very bad. \ j Having beard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a ; cough 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the 1 least effect on me. 1 then called in the best physician in the placi, whoa tended me a few mouths, but without sue cess; I then saw an advertisement in one of the cily ! papers of Wistur’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I pur based three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nns- j sail streets, but 1 could nut perceive t e least beneficial i effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it I commenced raising ! blood in large quantities ; Ijvvas taken down sick and j confined lo the house for three months, during which ; time I lost my appetiie aud fell away very fast; I was 1 then induced to consult Dr. CuClis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no ' good. I again become worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of i ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my ; cough was very severe, together with a pain in ray breast , and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up 1 all hopeof my recovering, and thought every day was j the last. A hunt this time I heard of your BALBAM OF | LIVERWORT being good for consumption., hut 1 was 1 1 like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu lar humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I ' thought it could make me no worse. My brother then purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., aud I coni , menced taking it, and by the time 1 had used one bo tils j full 1 could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an ! appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entire ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months 1 have gained in weight >ix pounds aud much in i streng h. I would therefore advise all who have any j affec ion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. 'Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe it to bethe best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs ; or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement re -1 lative to your valuable medicine, let h.m call on me, and i I will convince them of its virtue. Yours respectfully, DE REVERE. BRANHAM’S LIVER AND DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE. fN offering this valuable medicine to the people , of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis eases incident to a southern climate, Ido not claim ! for it infalibility; neither do I say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dys- , pepsia, I can confidently ad vise and recommend its use, from my personal observation and use of the | i article in my own practice. This article is favora ■ bly received w herever it has been used. I arn al : lowed to reler to Mr. George Heard of Troup, Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb, 3lr. Asbury Hull of Athens, 3lr. W illiam D. Ter rell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of Lagrange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value. Dr. Henry j Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as bis j opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua ble medicines that can be used iti imperfect diges- ■ ti«»u, liver complaints, constipation and irregular ! state of the bowels. It is useful in bilious com plaints, to persons recovering from bilious fevers, ! and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to costive ness, this medi cine is well suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. I could append a long list of certificates, but for- 1 hear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. Augusta, July 30, 1846. apIO nug 86 MAP OF GEORGIaT THE undersigned has been, for months past, engaged, under the direction of Hi* Excel lency, Governor Crawford, in compiling a Map of the State of Georgia, on a scale of six (tides to the inch. The undertaking is now nearly completed, and he flatters himself he will receive the favor able patronage of his fellow-citizens—sufficient, at least, to have it published and placed in a durable form. 'That a revised delineation is called for, of our extensive territory, independently of what exists in the labors of Sturgks and Gkkene, will not be questioned. The accumulation and possession, since their limes, of a vast body of land designated then as wilderness, or the temporary domain of the Indian tribes, with natural objects Well worthy “a habitation and a name,” have been converted into organised counties, presenting a dense population, flourishing villages, and extensive public and pri vate improvements. The Map to he published (so soon as a sufficient number of subscribers will warrant,) is five by four feet and eight inches; and is designed lu exhibit as well as perpetuate the present condition of the whole topography of the State. In addition to the. ordinary metes and bounds—-courses of ri vers, and ranges of mountains, Railroads. Canals, County bites. Post Offices, Factories, in fact all remarkable places of the past or present day, will be shown. The attention of the compiler has bet u particularly directed to a faithful drawing of coun ty lines and public roads, and to accomplish such important ends, he has not only consulted the ori. ginal surveys and the acts of various Legislatures, but he deemed it the better plan to make rough sketches of each county and submit the ssme to the Justices of the Inferior Court, Postmasters, and others equally competent and obliging, and to ask for such additions and corrections as might be ne cessary. and further to designate any and all ob jects of natural curiosity that might exist- To many, if not all of his requests, kind, prompt and satisfactory replies were given, so that many glar ing inaccuracies in the maps heretofore published have been corrected; and the compiler takes this occasion of returning his acknowledgments to those who favored his objects, as rendering a service not merely to himself, but aiding most materially in the thorough and correct developement of the whole plan. To his brother Engineers of the different Railroads, his thanks are one for the use of maps which enabled him not only to lay down the true courses of those important works, but likewise ttx, make profiles exhibiting the elevation above the sea. of every station from the Atlantic to the Ten nessee river. The map will I •embellished with views of the State House ami the Executive Man sion, and will be furnished to subscribers at their residences at ten dollars per copy. WM. G. BONNER, Civil Engineer.
