ceum, (a literary and scientific .Society,) of which
the Pnncidal ia ex offuno, President, meets every
.Saturday evening. This society has been estab
iislied but a lew monlbs, and has already proven it
self to be immensely improving to tbs young ladies.
We pledge ourselves to impart in one years time
to any young lady, who possesses a good mind, and
who can read fluently, a handsome handwriting, a
a correct knowledge of Grammar, Arithmetic, Geog
raphy and spelling. v

School, and the public generally, that he has
brought that school to a close, and taken charge ol
a now insiitiitWh, lately established at Williams
Cross Roads six miles below VVntkinsville, in Clark
county This determination has not been induced
by a want of patronage to the Wesleyan Mansion ;
lot, in tbat. respect, it has Itecn sustained beyond
the expectations of its proprietor ; but by a deliber
ate conviction, that in Partners' Academy, under
its present prudent nrifti'.g’erneiifß, the subscriber
will h» able to do a larger amount of good, with
more pleasure and profit to himself, than he has
been able to do, in Monroe. The new institution
will consist ol two branches in separate houses, one
for males, and the other for fertialos. A competent
female teacher Will he employed, to conduct the
female branch, under the direction of the principal
teacher ; but the advanced classes in that branch
will make their recitations to tile principal The
two Academies are located at n short distance from
each other, and the teacher's dwelling centrally be
tween them: and it is believed that such measures
have been adopted us will secure the advantages,
without Ihe disadvantages, of n mixed school. All
the principal vices, and fashionable extravagancies
ol town and village schools, are effectually exclud
ed from this o&tabllsUhfent. The Abaoemy is fur
nished with an extensive Chemical, Philosophical
and Astronomical apparatus, together With a num
ber ol large and elegant maps, and other facilities
for the promotion of education. In view ol the 10,
, e tlily of farmers Academy situated as it is in one
of the most pleasant and healthful sections of the up
country, together w ith its other advantages; the sub
scriber does not hesitate to prothise to pupils; a lar
ger amount of benefit than he has been able hereto
fore to give them. Every precaution tlmt » prudent
forethought bus suggested, has been taken, to throw
around the uidrnis of pupils the strongest and most
effectual safeguards. All the branches (both solid
1 and ornamental) of a liberal and extensive educa
tion, will be taught in this institution, and at mode
rate prices. Boarding may be hud at the Academy
and w ithin the distance of one mile from it, in the
most respectable lamihes, for eight dollars, or less,
per month.
