Male and remain Academies, at Monroe,
" ullon county, hereby gives notice ‘that these in-

on Monday, the Bib of January next. The Male and
Female Oepartments will he conducted in Separate
buildings, Situated about 80 rods apart, both under
the direction of the Principal, who has been engag
ed in lear'hing in (his place for the last iwo years.
A commodious building, with a convenient Appa
ratus room adjoining, Inis been prepared for tiio
(Male Academy, and competent assistants will be

Kemele department, whose reputation and standing
as a teacher are well known, ns she has been en
gaged in teaching in this place for several years

tions o( the higher classes of females at the apparat
us room, adjoining the male academy, and w ill illus
trate by means of apparatus, toe different branches
of study.
Particular pains will bo-taken to give the pupils
a practical knowledge of natural philosophy, chem
istry, astronomy, and the higher branches of math
ematics, the taking of latitudes, longitudes, Ate. To

grams,and to illustrate, II emsclvea, by means of the
apparatus.
■Students wislnngto obtain a practical Knowledge
of surveying heights and distances, Ate. are inform

ing vertical and horizontal angles, are in tiie pos
session of the Principal, who will go into the field
with bis clhsscs, and make theth familiar with sur
veying, plotting and calculating distances. Lectures
w ill, from lime to time, be given at night on natural
philosophy, astronomy, &c
Lessons will be givfcn on the piano, guitar, (lute,
clarionet, &c- by Mr. Guttemuehokr, whose novel
system of instruction and skill in Music, have al
ready earned lor him a reputation of the first rank.
Painting and drafting will also bo taugbtin the
female department.
The Principal will spare no pains to give his pu
pils a clear knowledge of the different branches of
study ; utid hopes by the arrangement made, to so
cure all the advantages, without any of tho disad
vantages ofa mixed school. The health of the vil

-1- patrons and friends of the Wesleyan Mansion
School, and the public generally, that he bus
brought that school to a close, and 'taken charge of
anew institution, lately established at Williams
Cross Roads six miles below Watkinsville, in Clark
county This determination has not been induced
by a want of patronage to the Wesleyan Mai on ;
foi, in that respect, it lias been sustained beyond
the expectations oi its proprietor : but by a deliber
ate conviction, that in farmers’ Academy, under
Us present prudent arrangements, the subscriber
will be able to do a larger amount of good, with
more pleasure and projil to himself, than lie has
I been able to do, in Monroe. The new institution
will consist of two branches in separate houses, one
for unties, and the other lor fPP.ales. A competent
female teacher will he employed, to conduct she
female branch, under the direction of the principal
teacher ; but the advanced classes in that branch

each other, and the teacher’s dwelling centrally be
tween them: and it is believed that such measures
have been adopted us will secure the advantages,

the principal vices, and fashionable extravagancies
ol town and village schools, are effectually exclud
ed from this establishment. The Acauemy is fur
nished with mi extensive Chemical, Philosophical
and AstfAfloifiical apparatus, together w.th a num
ber of large and elegant maps, and oilier facilities
for the promotion of education. In view of the lo
cality of Fanners Academy situated as it is in One
of the most pleasant and healthful sections of the up
country, together with its other advantages, the sub
scriber does not hesitate to promise to pupils, a lar
ger amount of benefit than be has been able hereto
fore to give them. Every precaution that o prudent
forethought lias suggested, lias been taken, to throw
around the morals of pupils the strongest altd most
effectual safeguards. All the branches (both solid
and ornamental) of a liberal and extensive educa
tion, will be taught in this institution, and at mode
rate prices. Hoarding may be bad a*, the Academy
and within the distance of one mile from it, in the
most respectable families, for eight dollars, or less,
per month.
