Newark, N J., afflicted for four years with severe pains in all his joints, which were always increased on the slightest motion, the tongue preserved a steady whiteness; loss of appe tite, dizziness in Ins head, the bowels commonly very costive, the urin high colored, and often pro fuse sweating, unattended by relief. The above symptoms werealsc attended with considerable dif ficulty of breathing, wilh a sense of tightness across the chest, likewise a great want of duo energy in the nervous system. The above case was pronounced hopeless hy three of Ihe most eminent physicians, and a disso lution o( the patient daily aw ailed fur by her friends, ‘ which may be aulhenlieaied by the physicians who were in attendance. -She has given her cheer ful permission to publish the above facts, and will also gladly give any information respecting the benefit she has received to any enquiring mind. The dose of Pink Root, known as one of the best subterfuges is, 10 to 20 grams, and double that quantity in Infusion is necessary to the same effect But tins syrup contains a concentrated dec ec ho/), much stronger than the infusion, amounting to almost tjie whole virtues of the substance. One tonspoonful of this syrup contains the con rentroted defection of 20 grains within a small (ruction, which may be considered at least, equal to the minima dose of the substance, which is 10 grains—two teaspoonfuls 20 grains,and so on. A slight laxative power is given by combining in tho virtues of rhubarb and senna. It is not cerlgin that any uniform antidote to tho occasional nervine effects of Pink Root is known, but tho best antidotal power hitherto ascertained, arislolochia, scrpcnlaria is combined in duo propor tion. It should bo remembered that no subterfuge is uniformly successful, even when worms are known to he present. The ofliciannl infusion Is 100 weak; rootui ning only the tea of seven and a half to fil teen grain* to the Cose, which equals, (if tho seler ■ ion of the root he well made) only three and a quarter to seven and a half grains of the substance. Fortins syrup, the best specimens have been selected with great rare, and the syrup on use has been found to possess, in a very convenient form for administration to children, all tho uniformity of power as a vermifuge with the root in substance, or the full powersofit in infusion or decoction.
