The dose of Pink Root, known ns one of the best vermifuges is, ID to 20 grams, nod (double Ihnt quantity jn infusion is necessary P> the same effect. lint lies syrup contains a concentrated decoc tion, iinieh stronger than the infusion, amounting to almost the whole virtues of the tuhilancc. One teaspoonful of this syrup contains the con rontratod decoction of 20 grams within n small fraction, which may bo considered at least, equal I to Ibe minimi dose of the substance, which is 10 giairis—two teaspounfuls 20 grains, and so on. A slight laxative power is given by combining in the vitluesof rhubarb and senna. It is not certain that any uniform antidote to the occasional nervine effects of Pink Root is known, but tho host antidotal power hitherto aaoortaincd, nrislolochia, serpentaria is combined 1 n duo propor tion. It should bo remembered that no vermifuge is uniformly successful, even when worms areknuwn to bo present. The offietanal infusion is 100 weak; containing only the tea of seven and a half to (if teen grains to the dose, which equals, (if tho selce lion of the root he well made) only three and a quarter to seven and a half grains of the substance. Fortius syrup, the best specimens have been selected with great care, and the syrup on use has been found to possess, in a very convenient form for administration to children, all the uniformity of power as a vermifuge wiih the root in subs'snee,or tlm full powers of it in infusion or decoction.
