Augusta Market.
Cotton. Considerable anivicy has been expe
rienced during iho week in tlio demand lor now
collon, and prices have advanced fully 1 cent per
lb. Most of the sales have been nude at 1-1 cents
V\ enow quote 121 a 121 eta. ns the extremes of the
market; the quantity arriving is quite small, and
many of our planters arc holding, back for belle 1 '
prices, ns the prospect of the nop being much short
of last year is new confirmed. In old cottons there
is also a good feeling, and all that is offered is easily
sold. We now quoteBl aHI els. ns extremes.
Groceries, Huy (loons, Hardware, &p-
The recent rise in the river has considerably added
to our merchants’ supplies, and their slock may now
he considered good. The number of country mer
chants in town has caused considerable activity
amongst our wholesale dealers.
Exchange. —Checks on the rtbrlhorn cities are
now dull at 2 per cent, premium for current money;
a difference o( one per cent, is made for city bank
notes
Freights.—Tho late rise in the river has
brought the steam boats to our wharves, and
freights to Savannah continue at 81 per hale; to
Charleston, (no boats up,) by rail-road, half cent per
pound is demanded.
I.IVKUPOOI. COTTON MARKET, ACC. 15.
Cotton.—Tho market since Friday last, has been
more quiet, but without effecting prices, which re- '■
main steady, and the advance of id noticed as hav
ing been obtained on American descriptions, under
fair, during the past, week, is still sustained. Ihe
sales on Saturday were 11000 bale's, on Monday
2500 ami ycat-rdav 3000 hales, chiefly Americans
were sold, with a very qu.ol market.

Stß:—We deem it due to your lino of singes,
nml our follow-citizens who maybe travelling on
■he route, to inform you and I hem, should you
deem it an object worth giving publicity to it, of
our entire and perfect satisfaction with the manner
in which we have been transported from Warren

of fifty hours; and although the Telegraph line
had endorsed ontheir Way bills to boat your stage
at least eight hours, neither (he Telegraph nor I lie
Mail Stage have arrived, although wo have been
here several hours, nml when they do arrive, wo
Venture to predict it will bo eight bouts behind, in

Our journey was accomplished without anything
like racing, and tho expedition is wholly to lie as

enced, sober and respectful deportment of your
drivers, who we have much pleasure in bearing
