Boarding ran he obtained in the house of the rector for thirty pupils, anil in neighboring pri vate houses to any extent desired. 11 is particularly desirable that those who intend to place their chil dren in this institution for the next year, should do ho in the first week of the opening of the school in January t as, in that week the classes will he formed for the whole system to commence its operations on Monday of the second week. The school room is provided with fire places and I tires, to make it comfortable in winter, and tlic 1 hours of instruction are the same in that season as in the summer. Edgefield, Nov. 6,1888. «itt Madison male and female acade mies.—The Trustees of ibis Institution, have the pleasure to announce to the public, that their Academies are in the most flourishing condition am! present to the public the most inviting induce ments for the education of youth. The male department is under the rectorship of Augustus Alden, A.M., whose time will be employed in the higher branches of education—the Classics, Mathematics, Oratory, &c. Mr. Abel Geer, well known in our county us a most successful teacher, will lake charge of the English department—speak ing French fluently, this language will also be taught by him. (lur close approximation lo the French nation, in our almod daily intercourse with them in commercial relations, is rendering a know edge of this language absolutely necessary to the ■wn hant, especially in onr cities. Our female school has succeeded beyond onr mod sanguine expectations. We consider onr institution inferior to none in the Southern country. Professor Pierce, assisted by Miss White anil others, have ■charge of the Literary department. Tin ir siicce.-a during the present year. We consider a siifliciont guarantee for an opportunity of obtaining In Hie Madison Female Academy a finished education in •ail the higher and substantial branches of literary Vnowledge. Mr. Daniel Chan, Professor of Vocal and Instrumental Music, having secured u competent assistant, will he enabled tu give the utmost satis- ' faction in his department. Much has been the mini- 1 her of pupils during the present year wishing inusi- ' sail instruction, dial he could not accommodate them all; this will he now obviated, and his entire alien-I lion to this department will be given. His reputa tion is firmly established. Our village is quite healthy. Board can he oh tained in the most respectable families at moderate ■rate*. u I’he tnitien fees are placed upon fair grounds,— AVe believe they are lower than al several inslilu ■lions in onr State, where opportunities for education ~ «re not as good.
