been sent to Texas for circulation.
Homicide.—An act of homicide was commit
ted in our streets, ye-lcrday afternoon. Geo.
Churchward, a commission merchant, was shot
dead, through the head, by C. B. Churchill, a
cotton broker. We know nolhing of the causes
of the fatal act. We are pained and sickened at
the repetition of these scenes, each one of which,
happening with impunity, is another blow at the
security of iile and limb, which it is the first ob
ject of civilized laws to protect.
Mr. Churchill surrendered himself to the au
thorities, and his trial for commitment takes place
before Justice Wilkins, to-morrow. — MubiU Adv,
