f | AllK unparalleled reputation which Peters’ Pills
R have acquired as a Medical Restorative, is the
most unquestionable proof that can he given, of
their immense import unco to i he afflicted, in almost
every class of diseases. The number of letters re
ceived from patients recovered through their moons
is really prodigious, and the complaints which
they have cured, urn almost as varied ns they are
numerous. But still there are some in which they
are more especially beneficial than in others; nnd
among those may he named the luooften fatal com
plaints ol Iho stomach nnd bowels, such ns Chulic,
Flatulence anti Indigestion, for which they are not
only n certain, but an immediate cure.
It is well known, that (non the derangement of
theslonmch and bowels, arise nine-tenths of nil the
maladies of adult and declining life; that this is
the foundation of flatulence, spasmodic gains, indi
gestion, loss of appetite, 4'f and that those in thoir
turn give birth to Dropsy, Liver Complaint, Con
sumption and Habitual Lowness r{ Spirits, there
fore Peter’s Pills being the very bust medicine
which has ever bean discovered lor the incipient
diseases of the intestines, are necessarily the surest
preventives of those dreadful, and also general dis
orders which embitter mature lile and drug so many
millions loan untimely grave.
In speaking I tins, Ur. Peters arrogates nothing to
hiinseil that has not been conceded hy the public.
Hu is no needy quack nr unknown spnenlalor, who
come s before the world as his own herald anil wit
ness ; hut is planed in a responsibility nl situation
by the patronage which he has enjoyed for years,
and which is increasing to nil extent unprecedented
in ihe annals of medicine, that makes him careful to
assert nothing which is not borne out hy the most
infallible proof, and hence he does'not fear to ho
put to the test in any thing which ho has promised
respecting his Pills
Dr. Peters is most happy In he able to stale on
the authority of a great nmnl e.r of regular Physi
cians, that wherever his vegolnh’e Pills have been
introduced, they have almost superseded the adop
tion of mercurial experiments, for their peculiar
faculty in sweetening the blood, and stimulating it
to expel all noxious juices and in giving strength
and tone to the nerves, prevents disease from ac
quiring that strength which must bo got under, if at
ail, by dangerous remedies.
Every g .amine box has the signature of the pro

O* COSBY’S DYSPEPTIC BITTERS.
PKRHAPS there is nothing more calculated to ,
disgust the public eye than the innumerable
advertisements ol nostrums that are constantly ap
pearing in the public prints. All are ready to ex
claim, our souls are sick, our ears arc pained with
every day’s reports of ils and specifies. This state
of the public mind would seem to forbid any person
of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis
coveries in medicine, to the trial of the public.—
Still, motives of delicacy shoo’d not prevent us
from making known real discoveries, which wc
are confident will benefit our fellow-men. This
latter consideration has prompted the author of
these bitters to make them known. He knows
they are highly efficacious, for he himself, his wife,
and many friends, have given them u thorough trial,
lie was himself a continued dyspeptic, so much, that
even liis recollection was gone. Hy using these
bitters he has been restored to health. Mrs. Cosby
was troubled for many years but was restored to
health by the use of these hitlers. This has been
the case with many of his friends. Mr. Cosby in
sending forth this advertisement addresses those
who know him. He has been for many years a resi
dent of Augusta, at which place, ho can at any
lime be consulted about tin* bitters. They me
good in all cases of diseases of the digestive or
gans, the symptoms of which are Indigestion,
pain or oppression in the stomach from food,
loss of appetite, flatulency, heart burn, giddiness in
the head, pain in the side, shortness of breath, lassi
tude, general weakness, disturbed sleep, &c.—
The composition is entirely Botanical, and has
proved e flic a ions when many celebrated medicines
had failed. In support of which he refers them to
Freeman \V. Lacy, sherilf of Richmond county,
and William T. Thompson, editor of the Augusta
Mirror, and he might refer you to many others,
but deems rt unnecessary as he is willing to place
it on it' own merits. All he asks is for those who
are afflicted with the dyspepsia to give it a trial.

JAY INK'S INDIAN EXPECTORANT,
IS recommended as decidedly superior to any oth

blood, Angima Pectoris —Palpitation of the heart,
Bronchitis;Chronic Pleurisy,Hoarseness,Difficulty
of Breathing, Hooping Cough,Pains anil Weakness

Organs.
Tills medicine is highly and justly recommended,
by numerous and respectable individuals, who have
found relief from its use. Many who have been
laboring under protracted Coughs and Pains in the
breast, and have been t it pposed by themselves and
their friends far advanced in Consumption, have
been happily restored to perfect health by the use
f t tis valuable Expectorant.
The Rev, C. C, F. Crosby, late Agent of the Ameri
can Baptist, writes as follows :
New York, June 15, 1835.
To Dr. Jayne —Dear Sir, —I have made use of (he
Indian Expectorant, personally and in my family,
for the last six years, with great benefit. Indeed 1
may consider my life prolonged by the nsc of this
valuable medicine, under the blessing of Cod, for
several years. 1 may say almost as much in the
case of my wife, and also of the Ilcv. Mr. Tinson,
of the Island of Jamaica, For all cases of cough,
inflammation of the chast, lungs and throat, 1 do
most unhesitatingly recommend this as the best
medicine I have ever tried. My earnest wish is,
lliatothers nlllicted as 1 have been, may experience
(bn same relief, which 1 am persuaded they will, by
using the Indian Expectorant.
C. C. I>. CROSBY.
N. B.—Many of my neighbors, on my rocommen
lation, have tried this medicine with uniform suc
cess. (Mr. Crosby’s present residence is near Eliz
abethtown, N. J.)
nerehy certify that 1 was cured of a violent
tough and pain in my breast by using Dr. Jayne’s
txpcctorant medicine. My wife also was afflicted
vith a bad cough anil pain in her breast, attended
vitli so much difficulty of breathing as to prevent
ter from go' ling any sleep for a number of nights in
'Recession; out by taking two doses of this medi
line she was enabled to sleep quietly through the
tight, and in a few days, by continuing its use, she
vas perfectly cured. JACOB RIDGEWAY.
Hancock's Bridge, N. J., Sept. 24,1838,
Last spring my wife was confined to her bed by a
listressing cough and pain in her breast and side.
Her cough harrassed Iter day and night, anil her dif

little sleep formally days and nights together.-
None if the medicines she took appeared to be of
any service to her, until Dr. Jayne kindly sent her
a bottle if Indian Expectorant, which completely
restored ter to health. She firmly believes it is the
best medicine ever discovered.

Dr. D. Jayne. —Dear Sir, —You will probably re
collect that about two months since, 1 called upon
you and procured a bottle of your Indian Expecto
rant, stating that 1 was then troubled with an invet
erate hoarseness and cold of three months standing,
for which no medicine that I had tried afforded any
relief. 1 deem it doe to you and to the Expectorant
to inform you, that the use of that one bottle entire
ly removed the complaint, and that I have had no
return of it since. From a fair rrial of this medi
cine, amlalsd of your Carminative Balsam, in my
own family, and under my observation, 1 confidently
recommend both to the afflicted. Yours truly,

Dr. Jayne. —Dear Sir, —Labouring under Pulmo

troubled recently with a severe cough, attended
with frequent attacks of hemorrhage, 1 was per

resorted in vain to the best medical aid of this city.
Before I had taken two bottles,! am happy to say
that the cough entirely left me,together with the
hemorrhage. 1 make this statement under the im

VEGETABLE DULCAMARA

continues to do from day to day—the proprietor has I
the happiness to state that it has proved one of the
most useful and beneficial remedies for the cure of
all those diseases above enumerated, that has ever
been offered to the public. And as a proof of the
high estimation in which the Dulcamara is held,
several gentlamen have purchased at one time, a
dozen bottles of it, and many gentlemen of the
Faculty have also recommended and liberally pa

the greatest Botanic discovery ever made, for the
relief and cure of every chronic disease, has been
fully realized and tested with the utmost success,
and the happiest results, thatpersons instead of ex
pending an estate upon Sarsaparilla syrups and

of the advantages of the Dulcamara, and be cured
at a moderate expense, with a very few bottles of

of twenty-seven months he has sold upwards of five
thousand bottles of his Dulcamara. In which time \
it has performed some of the most splendid cures i
that have ever been effected, and won the proud
distinction of being considered the greatest itesto- !

Ihe following are tire unsolicited certificates of
a number of individuals who have been cured by |
the Dulcamara. Many persons also afflicted for I
years with consumption, asthma, coughs, colds, I
rheumatism, liver Complaints, dyspepsia, cancers,
leprosy, and the worst kinds of scrofula, with va

by the Dulcamara, are ready at any time to authen

I do hereby certify, that ahouttwo months ago, I
had an affection of the nose with considerable pain
and inflammation in one nostril, which at length
became an alarming sore, which I have no doubt
would have terminated in polypus or cancer, were
I not fortunately persuaded to try a bottle of Mr. '
Veitch’s Vegetable Dulcamara. I purchased from j
the proprietor t\Vo bottles which performed a per- f
fecteure. In addition to which, a troublesome ul- |
ccration on the lip was removed at the same time. .

To the Vuhlir. —l have been afflicted for the last
four years with the asthma ; the attacks of which
disease, at times, have been uncommonly severe 0
and distressing. I have had recourse to the most
approved remedies for this complaint and have only
had temporary relief. Some months since, I made -
up my mind to try Dr. Veitch’s Vegetable Dulea- |
mara, and accordingly commenced the use of it. I
soon found to my satisfaction that this invaluable
medicine afforded relief every time I took it, and
which 1 pronounce to be the best expectorant I
have ever tried. 1 have persevered in the use of
it, until 1 have so far regained my health, as only 0
to require the medicine occasionally. The attacks n
of the disease are now less frequent, and much 11
milder than formerly, and 1 can confidently rccom- c
