JAYNE’S INDIAN EXPECTORANT, ,

j i his medicine is highly and justly recommended,
by numerous and respectable individuals, who have
found relief from its use. Many who have been
I laboring under protracted Coughs and Pains in the
j breast, and have been i I pposeu by themselves and
1 their friends far advanced in Consumption, have
been happily restored to perfect health by the use
of t iis valuable Expectorant,
! I The Rev. C. C. P. Crosby, late Agent of the Ameri
can Paylist, writes as follows :
New York, June 15, 1835.
■ To Dr. Jayne —Dear Sir, —1 have made use ol the
Indian Expectorant, personally and in my family,
for the last six years, with great benefit. Indeed I
may consider my life prolonged by the use of this
valuable medicine, under the blessing of (io.l, fur
several years. 1 may say almost as much in the
case of my wife, and also of the Rev. Mr.'Pinson,
of the island of Jamaica. For all cases of cough,
I inflammation of the chast, lungs and throat, Ido
most unhesitatingly recommend this as the best
medicine I have ever tried. My earnest wish is,
’ lhatothers afflicted as I have been, may experience
the same relief, which 1 am persuaded they will, by
' using the Indian Expectorant.
’ C. C. P. CROSBY.
N. B. —Many of rny neighbors, on my rccommen
lation, have tried this medicine with uniform suc
cess. (Mr. Crosby’s present residence is near Eliz
abethtown, N. J.)
* ncrehy certify that I was cured of a violent
:ough and pain in my breast by using Dr. Jayne’s
d ixpectorant medicine. My wife also was afflicted
■ vith a bad cough and pain in her breast, attended
f with so much difficulty of breathing as to prevent
her from ge'ling any sleep for a number of nights in
succession j nut by taking two doses of this medi
cine she was enabled to sleep quietly through the
night, and in a few days, by continuing its use, she
was perfectly cured, JACOB RIDGEWAY.
Hancocks Bridge, -V. J., Sept. 24,1838.
( Last spring my wife was confined to her bed by a
( listressing cough and pain in her breast and side.
1 Her cough harrassed her day and night, and her dif
f Acuity of breathing was so great that she got very
little sleep for many Jays and nights together. —
. None >f the medicines she took appeared to be of
' any service to her, until Dr. Jayne kindly sent her
. a bottle if Indian Expectorant, which completely
. restored ler to health. She firmly believes it is the
best nedicine ever discovered.
. WM. POULSON.
. Hancock’s Bridge, N. J., Nov. 21, 1838.
[ Copy of a letter from the Rev. Simeon Siegfried,
pastor of the Baptist Church at Horburough, near
! Philadelphia.
Dr. D. Jayne. —Dear Sir, —You will probably re
collect that about two months since, 1 called upon
you and procured a bottle of your Indian Expe to
rant, stating that I was then troubled with an invet-
I erate hoarseness and cold of three months standing,
for which no medicine that 1 had tried afforded any
relief. I deem it due to you and to the Expectorant
to inform you, that the use of that one hotllc entire
ty removed the complaint, and that 1 have had no
return of it sine*. From a fair rrial of this medi
cine, andalso of your Carminative Balsam, in my
own family, and under my observation,! confidently
recommend both to the afflicted. Yours truly,
S. SIEGFRIED.
Philadelphia, July Vsth, 1837.
Dr. Jayne. —Dear Sir, —Labouring under Pulmo
nary Atfections for the last live years, and being
troubled recently with a severe cough, attended
with frequent attacks of hemorrhage, 1 was per
suaded to buy your Indian Expectorant, after 1 had
resorted in vain to the best medical aid of this city.
Before 1 had taken two bottles,! am happy to say
that the cough entirely left me,t ogether with the
hemorrhage. I make this statement under the im
pression that it is a duty which 1 owe to my fellow
sufferers, and as an expression of my sincere grati
tude to you for your invaluable medicine.
Very respectfully,
J. E. MOORE, Dentist, 49 S. Fifth-st.
Philadelphia, Mat ch 30, 1838.
DR. D. JAYNE’S CARMINATIVE BALSAM,
is a certain, safe and effectual remedy for Dysentery,
Diarrhcea, or Looseness, Cholera Morbus, Summer
Complaint, Cholic, Griping Pains, Sour Stomach,
Flatulency, &c. &c., and all Spasmodic and Nervous
Diseases, as Sick and Nervous Headache, Hustcria,
Cramp, tkc. ike.
This is one of the most efficient, pleasant and safe
compositions ever offered to the public for the curd
of the various diseases of the stomach and bowels,
and the only article worthy of the least confidence
for curing C holera Infantum or Summer Complaint j
and in all the above cases it really *ts like a charm.
The highest testimonials have been received of the
great variety and number of important cures it lias
elfcctcd —by persons, too. of the lust respectability,
who have too much intelligence to be imposed upon
themselves, and too much honesty to lend the influ
ence of their names for the purpose of imposing upon
others.
Bai.timore, March 27th, 1838.
Dr. Jayne —Dear Sir, —You ask me what proofs I
meet with of the efficacy of your medicine. 1 can
safely say that 1 never prescribed a medicine for
Bowel Complaints that has given me so much satis
faction, and my patients so speedy and perfect relief
as this. Whenever introduced into a family, it be
comes a standing remedy fur those ailments, and is
called for again and again, which 1 think a pretty
good proof of its efficacy and usefulness. In the
Summer Complaint of children it has frequenrly ap
peared to snatch the little victims, as it were, from
the grave. “1 have saved the life of my child, and
of such and such a child,” 1 have repeatedly heard
said. In dysenteric atfections of adults, 1 have time
and again seen it act like a charm, and give perma
nent relief in a few hours, I may say in a few
minutes. In line, it is a valuable medicine, and no I
family should be without it. Respectfully,
M. L. KNAI'P, M. D.

PERHAPS there is nothing more calculated to I
disgust the public eye than the innumerable i
advertisements of nostrums that are constantly ap \
pearingin the public prints. All arc ready to ex- j
claim, our souls are sick, our cars are pained with ‘
every day’s reports of ils and specifics. This state j
of the public mind would seem to forbid any person
of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis- j
coverics in medicine, to the trial of the public.—
Still, motives of delicacy sltou d not prevent us '
from making known real discoveries, which wc <
are confident will benefit our fellow-men. This
latter consideration has prompted the author of I
these bitters to make them known. He knows
hey are highly efficacious, for he himself, his wife |
and - many friends, have given them a thorough trial!
He was hiraselfa confirmed dyspeptic, so much, that I
even his recollection was gone. By using these
bitters he has been restored to health. Mrs. Cos iy
was troubled for many years but was restored to
health by the use of these bitters. This has been
the ease with mvny of his friends. Mr. fosbyin !
sending forth this advertisement addresses those .
w o know him. He has been for many years a rest- i
dent of Augusta, at which place, lie can at any
time be consulted about the bitters. They are ,
good in all cases of diseases of the digestive or- ,
gans. the symptoms of which are indigestion ]
pain or oppression in the stomach from food’ i
loss of appetite, flatulency, heart burn, giddiness in’
the head, pain in the side, shortness of breath, lassi- i
tude, general weakness, disturbed sleep &c i
The composition is entirely Botanical, and lias t
proved efficacious when many celebrated medicines i
had failed. In support of w hich he refers them to
Freeman W. Lacy, sheriff of Richmond county (
and William T. Thompson, editor of the Yugusta’ I
Mirror, and he might refer you to many others I
but deems it unnecessary as he is willing to place’ h
it on its own merits. All he asks is fur those who “
arc afflicted with the dyspepsia to give it a trial. I
